Trust me, I wish I was pretending. I'd love to have a HSU option to fit my constraints. There isn't one. Even a VTF-1 is sized inoptimally for me. If I laid it on its side, maybe..

Something along the lines of what a 'ULS-12' might be proportioned at could work, if logically scaled down from the 15.

For instance, there is no SVS SB-12 or 13 equivalent from Hsu. That's what I'm looking for.

Thus, I must stand by my initial post.

The new product looks good (in picture and on paper) but it does me no good.

Ergo...disappointed.

There are a lot of sealed 12" subs out there, I don't think Hsu wants to add another to an already crowded market segment. Each of Hsu's subs are filling a pretty unique niche in the sub market (except against Outlaw Audio's subwoofers but that is a different story). Unless you are completely brand loyal, why not go with a SB12 or something like that? Emotiva has a good deal on their Ultra Sub 12 right now, that might be worth looking into for you. Elemental Designs has some small sealed subs, and the Epik Legend looks like it will have some punch for it's small size. If you have a bit more to spend, check out Outlaw Audio's ECS-10. If you can spend a bit more than that check out the Sunfire TS-EQ12, that should have some really serious output for its size.

I just wish there was a Canadian dealer for Hsu. I really wanted to buy a couple of these and live happily ever after LOL but the shipping/brokerage to the east coast of Canada is just insane... $400 bucks for an $800 sub!!!

It would be cheaper for me to dig a tunnel and smuggle it across the border! If I can get a few people interested I might even try it lol!

PM me if interested hahaha

Keep in mind that the UK is closer than Anaheim to Newfoundland, by a factor of about 30%. North America is a big continent...

Would that be a good idea or probably just stick with ULS-15 DD? Keep in mind this is all theoretical. Don't have any upgraditis just yet. :P

I wouldn't do it.

There are a lot of subjective thoughts on these forums, and to really understand them, or to even begin to understand them, one has to listen to a lot of different things. It is tough, but don't let these "thoughts" keep you wondering.

The ULS-15 is an excellent subwoofer...just enjoy.

I'll do all the digging if you promise to do all the lifting. At 123 pounds each I'm not sure who gets the harder job there!

Now is a great time to buy since the CDN dollar is on par but I just won't swallow those shipping/brokerage charges. $400 bucks for EACH sub! Sorry, not gonna happen!

Yeah i ordered one this morning too. Shipping to Alberta was $350. $1228US with the dollar actually above the U.S. dollar today by a bit is still better than any sub I can find locally..

Congrats man. Did you take the extended warranty on the electronics? (2yr to a 5yr for $100)
I did, it seemed cheap insurance to me beyond the standard 2 year warranty.

Sounds good buddy. Call me in two weeks

I haven't had a chance to directly compare them yet I'll try to do so during the upcoming holiday season!

That is very difficult, as all rooms are different. Room-to-room differences is one of the reasons why we added support for both ported and sealed modes with adjustable Q.

Not to say that mixing and matching will never work, but it would be more straightforward and predictable to simply add another ULS-15 and/or MBM-12 MK2.

Sincerely,

Looks like a$$?

You did a great job on that. Looks very natural.

Scheduled delivery is Friday and I hope I don't have to wait the weekend. I will take pics when it gets here. Picked up Scott Pilgrim, The Pacific, and Back to the Future Trilogy today on BR and can't wait to watch them with the new beast!

I had an old velodyne 12" I sold last week that had to go. I got married and bought house last year after living in condo and needed to step up my game.

I have a question.

They say

"123-125dB max clean CEA2010 peak output capability from 40-100hz"

They say its a 350Watt amp with something about +6dB burst capability.

So Im trying to figure out how they got to 125dB?

350Watts is about +25dB so with that alone the driver would have to be a 100dB sensitivity driver....anyone that knows drivers knows this is impossible to have and to have any Xmax so we can 100% assume its not a 100dB 1w/1m driver.

So lets add the +6dB to the 350Watt amp, does that mean the amp is a 1200Watt amp for just peaks???

Okay maybe but no one can find a 350Watt amp that has 1200 peaks but lets still move on.

Assuming +31dB...That means the driver is still a 94dB sensitivity driver to obtain 125dB measurements. Again, a 94dB driver will have limited xmax and very unlikely to be put in a ported box and tuned to 17Hz.

Sorry but what did I miss about the numbers?? All the data points to the measurements being inaccurate.

It's stated that it's rated for 1400watts for peaks.
Other than that I have no clue on sub designs or the math involved.

The sub will be part of the Audioholics sub shootout this month. They will be doing CEA2010 testing.
