You are right. The 15H is A less than $900 sub vs the PB13 which is a $2,000 sub. Which should win head to head?

I have been blessed to be able to own two 15H's which amounted to less than 1 Pb13 in price. I don't see 1 PB13 besting two 15H's on any given day. In addition, you can split the 15H's for a better room response.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

where can you get a VTF15 for 900.00? Last I looked they were 1022.00 shipped. however I would definately take 2 VTF15's over a single PB13U.

Oh and please do not take my post the wrong way, I am looking at adding a 3rd sub and if the vtf15 is 900 to my door, well i may add it to the list.

They have some right now in c or b stock on there site.
I was speaking before they added s&h. Anyhow, the comparison would still be 2 15h's for $2,044 vs. 1 PB13 for $2,000. As long as you have the room, that's a good deal all day long.

Where did you hear that? When i inquired about a c stock 15h, i was told it did have the warranty, just no 30 day return period, that the sale was "final", but did include the warranty.

Yeah, forgot about that. I bought mine a couple months apart.

I think to own only one, of course the SVS wins every day. Most people who have done the research wont dispute that. But, if you have read the numerous "2 VTF15's vs one PB-13 Ultra" threads, you will see buying one VTF15 and another later is a better move. That was my plan all along, so even though I may be a little less than what I would have gotten with a PB13, the end game will be a better result IMO. Regardless, both are great subs, one is just in a higher tier than the other. Kinda like Rythmik, I actually was gonna buy one of their high end 15's and then changed my mind at the last moment.
I have had my hsu for almost six months and when I bought it I was so excited to start listening that I did a quick job of placing the sub. As well due to the size my wife encouraged me to put it in the corner. It sounded so much better then my previous sub that I left it their. Yesterday I decided to try it in a few more spots. The best was only four feet to the left (between the tv and the front right tower) but it made a big difference . Bass is more even and smoother . I didn't tell the wife and she didn't even notice . That's where its staying .

Nice. It is just funny how man and woman are wired differently.

I know this is a area for vtf 15, but i need some "expert" advice for a vtf 3.mk4. I ran mcacc with 1 port open eq 1 q=7.
After mcacc was done, it set sub output to 2.0+db, i then adjusted it via spl meter to 75 db which came to 4.5+db.

this sub is in a10x18 room which is on small or mid size room, i fine that the bass or sub a little quiet, i have the gain set at 10 0 clock position. Is that even normal for that sub for mcacc setting it jn +db range o. receiver?.

sub cross over is set to out. any suggestion would be appreciated smile.gif

Have you tried moving over to Eq 2 both ports open?

Placement in the room could cause issues not knowing your room layout and you're seating arrangement will be a wild guess.
The middle of any room will be almost a guaranteed dead spot for low bass.
If you are looking for more room loading the corner with the longest two walls will boost the bottom end.
Did you try a crawl test with the sub?

Please post your room layout, including adjoining rooms that are not closed off when listening. Indicate where you sit in that space, and where the sub is currently located, and what other optional locations for the sub. 10 o'clock and +4.5 dB sounds high. What main speakers are you using?

Sorry for that delay,

got the sub working. Ignore that post.! :D

I recently purchased a VTF3-MK4 for a very large room that is a bit over 7000 cu. ft. (2 stories) and opens to a dining room+kitchen. After demoing the vtf3 for my wife, I now have the OK to go for a 2nd sub.

My question is, can I go for the VTF-15H to pair with the existing vtf3 or should I stick to two vtf3s?

Thank you for any input and thank you Dr. Hsu for responding to my email when I was shopping. You originally recommended the VTF-15H but I couldn't sell that to my wife... until she heard what the VTF3 can do biggrin.gif

I would use the VTF-15H in your large room and use the VTF-3 MK4 in your bedroom... biggrin.gif

I had to 'massage' this to my wife also. She liked the Def tech super cube, but I wasn't impressed with it, I did like the Sub2 but that was $$$. So after we demoed several subs, my wife got tired of not finding something we both like so I got the 'ok' for the VTF. She was surprised by the size (lulz) of the sub but when I fired up a movie she liked, the smiles and reactions was worth the money. Never had a complaint about it so far and I have owned it over a year now.

I have been using the VTF-15H for over a year with an open floor plan living, den and kitchen not to mention the hallway door is always open to my bedrooms and bath and the bass is outstanding
no regrets and would do it all over again and its 50/50 music/movies.

I wish I had the benefit of hindsight/WAF in my case and had been able to go for the 15H the first time but I have to say I've been thrilled with what the VTF3MK4 has been able to pull off. I fired up Cloverfield and could feel the creature stomping while I was standing out on our driveway. (Was walking the perimeter of our house to see if the bass was going to bug the neighbors biggrin.gif)

Can't wait to see what the 15H can do!

Warning at loud levels (my fault) use two sided tape on shallow shelves with what-nots ,vibrated a few of those off first week I had the sub good thing the wife laughed about it.,

When I first got mine and was setting it up to integrate with the rest of the system I blew two clocks off the walls. The wife wasn't pleasd until I got her two new ones. The prices we pay for this hobby!!!

Picking up a emotiva umc200 on Wednesday . Looking forward to peq my hsu. It needs a little help.
Not sure why this thread is so inactive lately . Just peq my hsu with an emotiva umc200 . I was a bit skeptical that it would make a big difference but it did. A lot smoother and no more tv shows ( I know the audio isn't as good) with the odd bass note that is too loud. Music is a lot better as well .
