Question about horizontal band on Vizio LCD

By band I mean that the screen is a tad darker in about a 2 inch band horizontally across the entire screen. Is there a setting that can remove this band?? Is it a problem with the TV itself?? The band appears no matter the input so it isn't an input problem.

If you can help or at least tell me the TV is shot I'd be appreciative.

Sounds like a backlight problem. Other than the backlight setting there is no other adjustment you could try. If it is noticable to you and others using various sources and material I would get whoever provides the warrantee to determine if the set should be repaired/replaced. You could go look at the same model in a store and see if that set shows a similar problem. If the set is still in the return period you could return it.
