Charlotte, NC - TWC - Page 151

Anyone have any idea when we'll be able to get Caller ID on the TV screen here in Charlotte? We got the digital phone set-up this morning and were disappointed that on screen Caller ID doesn't work.

I live in matthews (actually, stallings). I think that we are considered part of the monroe office.

We have had the on-screen caller id for a while now, I think that it started when we got the navigator update. I have the 8300hd also- not sure what version. how do I tell that? maybe it was upgraded

"back my Discovery HD"? I don't recall us ever having Discovery HD. It's always been DSCHD Theatre from the get go.

Did I miss something?

We have had Caller ID for a couple of months here. Maybe it takes some time before it becomes active after becoming a digital phone customer. Also check your settings. Maybe it is not turned on in there.

Bob.

I'm in the Gaston market, and the Caller ID is working on my TV. Mine didn't work at first either. I did some searching on the net and found that it takes up to 24 hours for it to start working on your TV. I also rebooted my box, and it was working later that night (maybe 3 hours after install).

Also, when I called to get the phone installed, they asked if I wanted CID to work on the TV. So, if you have navigator and it's still not working, you might want to call the office to see if there's something that they need to enable in the system.

I set up our install through the web page in the mailing we received about the two year contract at $119.95 per month for all three services. Power Bundle
I don't recall needing to make a choice about onscreen Caller ID during that process. The Caller ID on TV page says to press the button and choose Caller ID from the list but it doesn't show up on my 8300HD. I guess I'll have to give them a call. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Ahh, success! I called TWC and the CS guy made a change on their end and now it works. There is one slight difference from the instructions on the Caller ID on TV page here. After pressing the you have to choose Settings and go one more layer into the menus to see the Caller ID items.

Regarding the Switched Digital... I have a buddy that has a fancy Vista Media center box that he set up last year that uses cable cards in the tuners that the VMC uses. He was afraid that he's blown a bunch of money because shortly after that his cable system went to SDV. He subsquently found out that the channels he was recording were switched on every time that he wanted the VMC to record something, so it hasn't been a problem for him to use cable cards in the SDV world.

With SDV so long as someone is watching in the area, it should be activated for all cablecard users - so if you're watching something popular, you're in luck

Just in case nobody's noticed, TWC-Charlotte did indeed yank the 4 extra Olympic channels, including USA-HD (no more 'Burn Notice' in HD for us) about the time the clock hit 12:01 Monday morning. You'd think they could have at least left USA-HD up through the U.S. Open tennis tournament as they're carrying the early rounds in hi-def. But noooooooo...

how soon for what?

Yes... how soon for what? I just signed the contract with TW for the $120 pro bundle and I can still cancel if there are better things coming.

For the 3rd night in a row I have had no sound on the following channels during the DNC:

225 - WBTV (Have sound on 227)
235 - (ABC)

Anyone else have this happen? No worries I was watching the Panthers anyway.

Lately, WBTV has had numerous problems with their audio feed on the HD channel. Last week, their HD channel was down on Directv for part of two days! They seem to be the local channel that cares the least about HD. But, like you, I was loyally watching the Panthers on FOX at the time!

The thing that makes me laugh about WBTV is the commercial that they run that says "WBTV we are HD" (promoting CBS network programming), but they show it in SD.

5:12pm and WBTV has been off for over 10 min. Watching on TMC so not sure where the problem is, but analog channel 3 just now put a slide up saying please stand by. On the digital channel (via QAM) still dead air.

edit> now the slide is off, so dead air on both analog and digital (5:25pm) this must be huge.

I ordered the power bundle and asked about hd set-top box and was told it was an additional 7.25 or something but she seemingly was not going to add this to my order. Do I need this over what she was going to send me set-top box wise with a new HD TV? If I decide I might be interested in HD DVR service is that an additional 7.95 on top of the 7.25? There seems to be so much missing on their prices and packaging page (No set-top box pricing listed) or questionable ("High Definition Tier" 6.50 assuming that is 4 channels, links to those channels with a price of 6.95). Any information would be appreciated. Thank You
