Charlotte, NC - TWC - Page 244

AutoHD has been active since a couple of days after the black guide update... but within the past few days they expanded the channels it's available on significantly... much more than listed on the TWC website:

TWC Charlotte has revamped its SDV lineup... several of the more popular networks were moved back to linear broadcast. It never made sense to me that highly-viewed networks like USA and TNT were ever made SDV in the first place. Its probably rare that nobody would be watching these networks, so the SDV setups ended up being quasi-broadcast anyway. Conversely, HBO and Showtime were made SDV... this also makes sense to me.

A side benefit of these moves, along with some apparent willingness to stress the SDV system, is that AutoHD has been expanded to nearly 50 channels:

TWC Charlotte AutoHD Lineup
Linear (OTA)
• CBS (WBTV)
• ABC (WSOC)
• NBC (WCNC)
• FOX (WCCB)
• MyTV (WMYT)
• IND (WAXN)
• PBS (WUNG)
• PBS (WTVI)

Oddly, our CW affiliate is not configured for AutoHD... it is the only channel, OTA or cable, with a linear HD channel that is not configured for AutoHD.

Linear
• A&E
• ABC Family
• Cartoon
• Disney
• ESPN
• ESPN2
• Fox News
• FX
• Lifetime
• News 14 (NC equivalent of NY1)
• NICK
• TBS
• TNT
• USA

SDV
• BBCA
• Bio
• DestAM
• DisneyXD
• ESPNN
• ESPNU
• Fox Biz
• Fox Soccer
• Fuse
• G4
• Golf
• H2
• Hallmark Movies
• ID
• MLB
• NBC Sports
• NG Wild
• NHL
• Ovation

No issue's that are wide spread, sounds like an individual problem that you are having.

"Anyone having issues with CBS, ABC and FOX? I click on the channel and no content or sound. Happens on 1105, 1110 and 1125 plus the lower CBS, abc, and fox channels."

I was watching from around 8:30p until well past midnight and had no issues.

I have TWC Signature Service. My apple products have been saying that they cannot join the network intermittently. But that is not my main problem. I have to have a Sprint Airave in order to get a cell signal at my house. The Airave puts your cell on a voip connection. It has been acting up lately and when I called Sprint, they said according to www.voiptest.8x8.com , my connection has a "Quality of Service" issue. It scored a 46% in that area. It needs to be at least 70% in order to sustain a viable voip connection. A friend with TWC as well but not Signature Service scored a 90% in "Quality of Service".
TWC says that they don't recognize other sites and only have their speed test. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my connection?

Just got a firmware upgrade on my Moto SBG6580. During primetime, TWC? Really? Ever thought about a 3am change control?

Wonder if this means higher speeds aren't too far behind.

I'm about to take a sledgehammer to my Cisco 8640 HDC DVR... The remote control is a PITA when it comes to navigation.

Even when we walk up to the DVR and point the remote directly in front of the box, the channel change is buffered and then catches up... the same goes w/ RW, FF and Pause/Play.

I've already traded the box a few weeks ago.

The lazy TWC rep at the Arrowood RD location wanted to only switch the box, but I made him give me a new remote and power cord.

The remote works fine for the VOL, which is setup on my Denon AVR 1611.

Anyone else having this issue?

Less often than plasmas, but CFL-backlit LCD TVs as well as CFL room lighting can also interfere with IR communications.

I've had my 8640 since they were first introduced a couple of years ago and have never experienced the type of lag you describe (and it's sitting next to a plasma TV). That said, there are many (mainly in other systems) that have reported laggy menu navigation in the TWC Navigator thread... more so with the 8642 whole-house version, but also with the 8640.

Thanks jcalbria... I wonder if I should get something like this...
http://www.amazon.com/Next-Generation-Remote-Control-Extender/dp/B000C1Z0HA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346332206&sr=8-1&keywords=ir+remote+extender

My buddy has one and swears by it.

I have no experience with that so cannot really comment on how it works generally or if it has any issues with CFL interference.

Xantech has a full line of IR repeater systems that include CFL and/or plasma resistant IR sensors... they work well but are pricey. Personally, I have successfully used a Cables-to-Go clone of the Xantech repeater systems, but not because of interference issues.

In your case, I would set up a test of how the box responds in a darkened room with the box shielded from any light emitted from the TV. If it's still laggy, then it's probably a box issue and not an IR issue and you will have saved yourself from an unnecessary purchase.

Also, have you tried rebooting the box?

Thanks again! I just ordered the C2G from amazon. I'll let you know how it works.

Just wondering...after all this time, why is there still a blank signal running on Channel 7? Can TWC not reclaim that frequency for digital cable or broadband use?

could be that TWC has an analog channel on channel 7 somewhere in the Charlotte cluster and I think mooresville/Davidison NC TWC areas have WGN on analog 7 so it is probably not usable in the charlotte system if the charlotte system feeds mooresville/davidson even if they are 1GHz.

TWC in my area has a blank carrier on analog 6 even though they reclaimed it last year which was previously CSPAN3 analog.

Good question, Channel 7 was analog HBO and was trapped if you did not subscribe. Good chance some traps might be floating around the system but no one has decided what they want to do with that unused channel for several years now...frown.gif

The TWC system I am on here in North Texas never had the single channel traps that I am aware of it was always scrambled premiums until Comcast removed them in 2004 before TWC swapped the system with Comcast. We had analog premiums on 27-32 which had:

HBO
Showtime
TMC
Starz
Encore
Cinemax

all on analog and the trap was from 34-73 as we had some limited basic public access channels on 75-78. Now I think the traps are set to 30-76 or so as we now have limited basic on channels 2-29 and 95-99 although 95-99 are digital only and expanded basic from 30-76. There may be some older 34-73 traps in my area but I want to say most of them have probably been replaced. There might have been a trap for analog 99 as my area had Speed on 99 analog and it was expanded basic before TWC took over.

Now days:

6 (85MHz)
95 (93MHz)
96 (99MHz)
97 (105MHz)
98 (111MHz)
99 (117MHz)
15 (129MHz)
16 (135MHz)
19 (153MHz)
27 (243MHz)
28 (249MHz)

are all in the limited basic range and are either carrying digital channels or a reserved for future digital use. The system I am on is 860MHz.

Still getting that damnable "The Set-Top was unable to record this program." message. If anything, it's getting worse and is now affecting prime-time programming instead of just late-night/early-morning. If I'm not present (or awake) to manually start a scheduled recording that's been dropped, I've missed it. It's happened continuously this week, including prime-time "Big Four" networks, now as early as 10:00 PM. It's not because of time-slot conflicts. Besides, the machine won't let you schedule conflicting recordings in the first place - at least the software is smart enough for that.

I'm running MDN on an SA8300HD that never exhibited this behavior until recently. Does anyone have any hard information why this is happening and what system is responsible for it? What the Sam-Hill is going on??? confused.gifmad.gif

Go get you one of the new model boxes Samsung or Cisco take the old one in to a office they will do a swap at no cost.

Apparently TWC had some sort of software update issue Friday night that prevents the cable box from rebooting. I have a cisco-8742hdc-cable-box that rebooted late Friday night and each time it tries to start up it gets a error IA09. I called TWC Saturday morning (after a 45 min hold time) and the call center rep told me that they have had several calls with the same issue & that he had an email about this issue stated something to the effect that a bad or incomplete update was sent out that is causing this problem. He stated I would have to wait until a new update was forced out but he had no idea how long that would take. Hope this will only take a few hours for them to correct & not days.

Tonight (Saturday 9/8/12) on the Monroe system, I can't get analog channels 2 through 6 without a cable box. Is that just me, or does anyone know of a weird outage tonight?

It's fixed tonight. Way too involved to try to explain that to a CSR.

So after all that time and energy spent putting the sports channels on 5xx/15xx, they put NFL on 498/1498 and Red Zone on 499/1499.

Go figure. confused.gif

Not the only thing that's been screwed up, though: NY1 not in the news block... OWN with the "sciency" stuff... and the on-demand stuff is a total mess.
