Does the Sharp lc52le700un support Dolby 5.1

This may be a stupid question but does the Sharp lc52le700un allow for Dolby Digital 5.1 audio to come through the TV. Here is my setup.

I have a PS3 (or Comcast digital box, neither work) connected to the TV via an HDMI cable. I then have an optical audio cable going from the digital optical out to the optical in on my receiver.

My receiver does not indicate that I am receiving a Dolby 5.1 surround sound signal from the TV. Now I know the PS3 and cable box are capable of outputing in 5.1 because if I go from the optical out on either device to the optical in on the receiver and bypass the TV completely the Dolby Digital 5.1 works perfectly.

I found a Dolby/PCM setting under the digital menu on the TV and switching it to Dolby has no effect.

Am I crazy? It seems like this is a pretty important feature to be missing from a TV this new.

The Main board contains all of the audio processing circuits in the LE700 series. AV Decoder IC8001 has built in Dolby AC3/MPEG-2 audio decoding circuits and is responsible for analog to digital conversion, volume, tone control and surround sound processing. Analog and digital audio sources are processed for level and tone by IC8001 and available as three separate outputs. Analog audio out is applied to the L/R line out jacks and a separate analog output is applied to amplifier IC2701 which will drive the L/Rs speakers. Analog audio is converted to digital and output as SPDIF where it will be available at the optical out port. However I do not know if 5.1 is bypassed and or if the Tuner is the only way to get your 5.1. I have a Sony that works that way. Only put out 5.1 through the Digital Tuner and or PC. I'm sure this didn't help much, but I hope it did some.

Most TVs will only output 2-channel PCM sound from their inputs- they'll only output Dolby 5.1 from the TV tuner on stations that broadcast it. There are a few that will output 5.1 from input devices, but you don't want to do this with a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player as it will just be standard Dolby Digital, not the higher-resolution Dolby TrueHD (such soundtracks will be down-rezzed). The one I have does not pass DTS at all, either. All my stuff is run through the receiver, and the receiver outputs the picture to the TV through one HDMI output.
