I am getting more and more frustrated with this tv. I have been trying to claibrate this deadgum thing since I got it about a month ago. What looks good on 1 channel does not look good on another. Recently it looks fairly cloudy and not that "clear: look I am striving for. I went out and bought the Audioquest Cinnamon hdmi cable thinking that that would help and be better than the "generic" one I already had, but to be honest I cannot really tell much of a difference. Are my hopes to high for the television?? I have tried Omar's settings along with some others, but it seems like I am constantly having to change my screen settings when watching different shows. Well, unfortunately all source material is not created equally. If your source material is crap then the picture is going to look like crap. If it's reference quality then it's awesome. Whether it's DVD, Blu-ray, cable, DirecTV, etc., the source material will, unfortunately, vary. Also, sometimes the director will shoot in such a way to create an effect or atmosphere (more grain, dark, bright, reddish, bluefish, whatever).
What I've done is to calibrate my set the best that I can and used good quality material to check my work. There is a thread here called The New PQ Tier Thread for Blu-Ray - Rankings (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1168342
). Look for titles near the top of the list that you have in your collection and use those and don't let something with bad picture quality cast doubt on your settings and ruin your enjoyment your TV.
