In sit 12 feet away. I m using a mid level Denon receiver. I am considering a processor and perhaps a 7 ch 200 watt
Outlaw amp. Honestly I'm not feeling I am lacking with what I
Have.

My guess is you do not listen at reference (neither do I)....way too loud.

But that is awesome you can get great sound from AVR power and the dynamics. Completed and installed pics?

man, what a dedicated shop can do for some people.

I guess some of us have to make due with our 60 year old saws.

Excellent build glad you are happy with them, are you going to go for the surrounds also?

omyyy your wood working skills are very very impressive. I wished I lived close enough just to come over and watch.

Nice looking speakers! I think they fit the room more so than the ones they replaced. I also like those outriggers but just can't find it in me to drop that kind of coin on 'em.

If I would have known there was an issue, I'd issue you a return tag to Parts Express no questions asked. Although as I recall, 8 of the woofers were purchased from a 3rd party? Either way I'll take care of my customers if an issue is known. The parts carry full manufacturer's warranty.

You're exactly right, 8 were purchased from a 3rd party, which is why I was going to go through PE. The dust/debris issue would happen free-air along with being mounted, but I only have the problem when it's mounted.

Then change the port tuning to the 3" Precision Ports with a 7.5" length end to end (requires a new port tuning because of the different parameters). If the old RS180s drivers are indeed defective, PE will warranty them. I hope this helps, and if there is anything else I can do just send me an email.

I'll keep you posted on what I find out after contacting PE, however, I want to test all 12 drivers to see if there are any others that need replaced.

Wow very nice Bill.

They look real nice in there!

One of the best Dynamic Series builds I've seen, and in only 2 weeks!!! Most impressive.

If there is no mechanical noise, just air moving around the phase plugs when played, that is normal-- because part of the function of a phase plug is to allow air to escape around the voice coil for cooling. If the woofers had dust caps instead of phase plugs, that would be another matter.

Well some are silent and others aren't (when installed). However, free-air, they're all silent. The air noise is loud enough it can be heard in some songs. I might be home long enough around Christmas to test them, but if not, it'll be summer time.

First thanks for all the compliments. I am still listening to lots of material and tweaking things so I have no listening impressions for now.

I am currently running a Denon mid level receiver. Unfortunately it does not have pre-outs.

I am looking for suggestions on what to look at (brands and models) as far as Receiver/Amp or Processor/Amp combo's to drive these speakers.

I don't want to get exotic as far as pricing goes, just looking for solid reliable power.

I picked up this today for an econowave build I am doing.
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-NR708...1086808&sr=8-1

Its got pre-outs on it and I would look at that emotiva UPA-7 amp if you wanted an amp.

I started considering an upgrade to my amplification. That spiraled out of control of course. My current receiver does not have pre-amp outs which presented a problem.

I have my theater controlled by a Control 4 system which lets me use my iPad as the remote. I control it all including lights perfectly with the Control 4 system. The rub is I would need to bring in the installer to change the component to a non Denon devise. I may still have to call them in but I don't think so.

So, I was predisposed to Denon. After surfing around I settled on a Denon 4310CI and an Emotiva XPA-3

That will give me the Denon's 130 wpc to drive my 4 - 90db efficient sides and rears and the Emotiva 200wpc to drive the three Clearwave 88db efficient fronts.

The Denon is one model old and an excellent value. I selected the 4310 because it had Audyssey XP, to step up to the latest iteration of Audyssey would add around $1,000 to the project and I have not had great luck with Audyssey and my Danley DTS-10. So I wanted the XP upgrade to give it a chance again. It also allows me to call in an Audyssey pro installer.

Anyway, Santa is with the program. I will have to wait until Christmas to install it but I think I have amplification covered well.

I am still holding off commenting on the speakers. It is all good but I want to have a good variety of material listened to with ample opportunity to tweak it before I make any real comments.

Excellent work on the cabinets, and equally nice choice on the AVR and amp (would have been my suggestion, 2010 reduced price Denon w/ Emotiva amp).

Would be interested to hear your impressions after switching to separates, and the new Audyssey XP's performance.

I am interested also. I think it is good that I will have more time with my current setup. I hope the reality is exceeded by the hype.
Let me know how you like your setup with the XPA-3. I've been considering getting that amp for my 4T's and 4cc when I get back home.

I am going to need 3 RCA mono interconnects to connect my receiver to my new Emotiva 3 channel amp.

My components are more then 6 feet apart. I need to find some interconnects.
I am not feeling $30 (or more) per cable interconnects. I believe a reasonable interconnect is fine. I am having trouble finding a source.

I checked all the usual subjects. Any suggestions?

Give monoprice a try

PE has a bunch of inexpensive options:

I agree a nice interconnect, but OP beware. That is the 6.5 inch length and you mentioned that you need longer than 6'. I'm assuming you meant more than 6.5' as well. Just making sure you don't click "buy" on the wrong item.

That's what I was thinking. You'd have a spare.
You should really look at monoprice. How long do you need em?

BTW - meant to type 6.5feet NOT inches.

12' for under 3.50 for their decent cable.

I am a classic mental case. I wanted 3 mono cables. The components will be hidden in a cabinet never seen but the thought of two stereo cables with one dangleing makes me mental.
How long do you need 'em? Here's the single 12' version.
