Word is that it will be PS3 Exclusive to the Move.

I'd much rather see a home port of House of the Dead 4, rather then a sequel to the weakest entry in the series.

I don't even consider it a true part of the series. Overkill is a very different beast then a typical House of the Dead game and anyone that went into it expecting a game in line with a traditional House of the Dead game was in for a disappointment.

It has many fans, but I for one didn't care for the direction it went one bit.

I on the other hand consider one of the best light gun games ever. And THE reason I purchased a Wii just to play that game.

Now the experts at NEOGAF Forums (you actually have to work for a videogame company to use those forums)

All the pros are saying that Headstrong Games is making Overkill 2 for the PS3 Move.

Which is great, but if they abandon the Wii I will be pissed.

And considering Nintendo's style or MO. They don't like sequels its usually 1 Mario Kart game per console one Zelda game per console. Even 3rd parties make 1 game and call it quits. The fact that we got 2 Mario Galaxy games was a shock to me.

You're joking, right? This is supposed to be a really funny joke?

And Wii has.. let's see now, 2 metroid games, 2 zeldas, 2 mario galaxy, 2 wii sports, 2 wii fit
and third party:
2 boom blox, 2 conduits, 2 star wars force unleashed, 2 marvel ultimate alliance, 3 call of duty, 4 sonics, 2 just dance,.. you want me to keep going?

The only reason we often don't see a sequel to certain franchises (Mario Kart for example) and some other first party franchises is because they continue to sell so well.

Games like Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers continue to be high up in the sales charts years after release. What's the incentive to make a new game that is just going to kill sales of the one that's all paid for that continues to sell extremely well every week?.

Nintendo loves sequels, but they also have some business sense and understand when it's not in their best interest to develop an expensive sequel when the previous release is still a strong seller (Usually still at a $49.99 MSRP even) and would be damaged by a sequel cannibalizing sales. In cases like Mario Kart Wii, it makes more financial sense to protect it's sales while sending the development team to work on a different franchise that is hopefully going to be just as successful.

And usually when it's a well recieved 3rd party release that saw a single release on the Wii, no one bought it in the first place which effectively kills the chances for a sequel. It's not due to some internal policy by Nintendo to discourage sequels to positively reviewed third party releases.

Ok, ok, ok...

Ok.

No worries here. We're all getting the same vibe, and I'm not worried. A few thoughts:

No way HOtD goes PS3 exclusive. Anyone who loves and/or plays the series is playing on Wii. The internet told us that Wii owners aren't PS3 owners (hardcore! FPS, JRPG, Manga, fap fap!!), i.e. Dead Space Extraction shoulda waited until move (thank Jeebus it didn't, fwiw). So unless Sony has suddenly jumped up on lightgun shooter as a target demographic, Wii is a must to keep players buying the sequel.

And as to the series, it hasn't been this popular since the word arcade meant a physical location ala mid 90's. Moving out of the Tarantino-come-Rodrigues style would be murder. MadWorld wasn't the most creative game ever, but I could see a Sin City inspired HOtD version making a killing. And I'd be there day 1 with the rest of the 18-34 game buying, B-movie consumers. Not to say I wouldn't LOVE a real Wii HOtD 4 port, but it aint gonna get much more attention thatn Mad Dog McCree, and that's a sad truth.

It'll happen, and should Sega be smart enough, they'll slap a really cool visual and sound style on it and make PS360 owners jealous... Until they give 'em the obligatory Move port of Overkill with extras :mad(
