Toshiba 55HT1U ??

Thread Starter
Sears is having a F&F special on this TV tomorrow (11/12) . Seems like a great deal but I can find NOTHING on this TV other than the Toshiba site. Any commentary on it? Will likely pull the trigger tomorrow unless I get good reason not to?

How is the TV overall? Pic quality, sound etc??

I too would be interested to know what you think of the TV. There's virtually zero information on this model (or, for that matter, most recent Toshiba sets).

I purchased this tv from Sears the other day and got an extra 10% off as well as $109 in rewards!! I haven't picked it up yet so I don't have a review. I'm really more of a plasma guy but this is going in the LR which gets a lot of light. I have a 54S1 in my man cave which I'll mainly watch. I'm curious to see how the Toshiba compares.

Sorry forgot about this thread, pic quality is very good, same as more expensive TV's. Sound, don't think I've ever used it.

I'm anxious to get this bad boy set up! The price was incredible! I'm surprised nobody else here has any comments.

I have this tv now. I set it up with an hdmi and I also have uverse. Tbh it doesn't look as good as I wish it does. I don't know if I did something wrong or maybe there are more cables I need.

I was wondering if this screen has a matte finish? If not, how bad is the reflection in the screen?

I haven't noticed much glare yet but I really wasn't paying attention.

Check out slickdeals.net, and do a search under this model #. There are quite a few posts about this tv.

Anyone else pick this TV up recently? I got one this week but it constantly drops the audio via HDMI from both a PS3 and Xbox360. It will happen a couple of times per hour. They are on separate individual inputs so its not cable/input jack related. My SA cable box doesnt appear to have the issue.

Other than the audio drops what do you think of the TV? How is the input lag for games, overall picture quality and color accuracy? I'm thinking about getting one.

Still playing with the settings for Clearframe and such. Overall it is decent, but nowhere near as good as my Sony or Sharp Aquos. It gets some strange video artifacts but between the HDMI audio drops and horrendous internal speakers, i wouldnt buy again. I know most dont use the speakers but this was mostly a gaming/movie tv for the kids and wont be getting the surround sound treatment.

I was planning on returning a Sharp Aquas Quattron for one of these so it's disappointing to hear that it doesn't look as good as your Aquos.

Been looking for reviews for this tv, so far at bb its gotten excellent reviews. I currently have a Samsung LED but I had replace twice due to clouding and I'm currently looking for a good alternative...

Instead of starting another thread, I'll use this. I saw this TV today and it looked pretty good. Can any owners out there please give your thoughts on it? Problems, good things, etc. Should I buy an ext. warranty with it? The 3 year warranty costs $140 and starts the day of purchase. Thanks for any advice.

I am interested in this tv, but need to know if I can bypass the internal speakers and connect to a AVS receiver. Currently both my Phillips and Sony allow direct connect via HDMI to the AVS receiver to decode DTS/Dolby Digital, etc and then patch the video/audio output to the television display. Both sets have a sound disable function.
However I read in one of the reviews that HDMI connection has to be made to the Toshiba display then the optical output to the AVS receiver. But it did not indicate if the tv audio could be disabled. Hate to have to audios at the same time, with the AVS dependent on the tv volume control.

yukon04, can't you just turn the volume to zero on the TV?

I was also wondering if it's a big deal that there's no analog audio outs on the TV?
You can turn the volume down; however the audio output to AVS will depend on where the optical output tap is located. My old CRT 34" Sony had two audio outputs; one before the volume control and one after the control. The output before the control was constant; however the one after the control was variable. When you turned the volume down, the output to the amp was decreased.
