In today's Audio World this feature is a huge selling point. I LOVE my MRX 700 but I cannot believe they gave up on this. This looks like a case of false advertising.

Anyone interested in the dock should email Anthem. That way they'll have a sense who is interested.

Anybody using Anthem to play audio media from hard disk without using TV/Projector? TV/Projector is needed to traverse the folders. I am trying to see if there is any device that has display and can be attached to MRX (or device can connect to hard disk) to play audio without needing to use projector.

Only 4 HDMI inputs on these receivers... Anyone know if they are going to release a newer model with more HDMI inputs in the near future? I would love to own one now but I need more than 4 HDMI inputs.

Many have used HDMI splitters with success.

That's a good option for sure, but I'm still curious if there are any "rumors" of something new coming from Anthem to replace the 300/500/700.

I don't see anywhere on Anthem's site where they explain the upgrade procedure for the MRX. Is there a link anywhere here?

Nevermind! There is a readme text file in the download. Updating now.

I'm not aware of anything at this point.

Lip Sync Issues after 50.25 firmware upgrade. Anthem MRX-500 & Oppo BDP-93.

Probably shouldn't have upgraded the firmware on both units within 24 hours of each other, because now I'm not sure which update would have caused this. I did try a full powercycle (removed power to both units) to see if that helped. Actually seemed to get the audio very close to being in sync. I'll post in the Oppo section as well, but I'd like to know if any other MRX owners have experienced a lip sync delay following the upgrade.

TIA!

My BDP 83 has always had this issue if you FF it goes out of synch unless you REW for a few seconds and then it works. Not sure about your model though.

Hello,

Just got my MRX300, out of the box sound is really amazing, my speakers came out soooo alive. I got one problem, when i paused a movie/song or press the mute and i went closer about 8-10inches away to the center channel i can hear a hissing sound. I dont hear any hissing sound on the other channels. Is this normal? My firmware is 40.0x, i know its old, i cannot upgrade the firmware yet because im waiting for the cable(usb-serial) to arrive. Do you guys think its just firmware issue?

Thanks

Could be. You should install v50.25 when you get the USB/Serial adapter since as you said, it is an old version.

my homework has just increased. Thanks!

Haven't been on here in a while. Shouldn't need to be, if everything's working correctly (which means...if I'm here reading ...). Got a replacement MRX 500 a couple of months back, after more than a year of lock ups under different conditions and loading v50.23. The unit I have now was tested before it left Paradigm. It's locked a couple of times when first powered on and switching from one source to TV (typically Internet Radio > TV). I've learned to accept it. The latest and greatest has been the loss of my Channel 2 Component In Video. I did the troubleshooting already with Piero on the phone...and we confirmed that Channel 2 input is shot.
I've had my Denon 3300 since 1999 and I'm still using it in my gym without a single issue even 13 years later. The issues I had with this line are really getting old!!! mad.gif I can't imagine what may surface a few years down the road, after the warranty's run out? After all of the problems I've encountered...I'm seriously hoping the retailer will let me swap out of the brand to something more reliable. Apparently...their store demo unit is down as well. rolleyes.gif

Can anybody from Anthem who MIGHT? happen by this forum help me PLEASE! or force my dealer to give me my money back. And yes, I have sent the form in from the website, but I gotta cover all the bases I can at this point.

Thank you.

Don't worry Anthem fans...

Dear Fellow Forum Members,

I'm unhappy and unsatisfied with my sound and looking for community help. I've worked hard on a dedicated theatre room. I've got the room mostly soundproofed with Safe n Sound, I use my MRX300, 7.1 speakers ( Sound Dynamics) and a Velodyne DEQ-12 Sub.. I use an Epson 8500UB projector for picture.
I've run ARC, tried multiple sub locations to no avail.. the sound is modest at best.. BUT I goto a friends house, he's got an old Yamaha 5.1 with a 10in sub and the couch shakes, your heart pounds and you are immersed in anything put through a very cheap system.. I dont know how he does it!
In ARC my sub looks like a Parabola.. this is a newer sub.. I cant get the perfect result, the LFE explosions that sound right.. a sound field where I can really enjoy my hard work.. wtf.. I was even considering a Buttkicker system to augment the bass, but think that may be a cheap gamble to the main issue..

The room is a simple rectangle maybe 12X25..

Any help or ideas would be great. My local store has left me out to dry..

Nathan

i bought mine last month (MRX 500) emailed Anthem yesterday and got a response asking what firmware was i using, it's the 50.24 beta. emailed that back to them and am waiting on the answer to my question which was "what is the fix?"

i don't want to hear 'this may help" or "this might work" b.s. either. i paid too much money for something that isn't possibly working properly and i don't want to 'upgrade' the firmware until then and as you, my marantz i've used since 1999 as well and have never heard hissing, pops, crackles etc. from it through the same speakers, Klipsch, that I have used for the same length of time.

I've got an Onkyo I've gone back to a few times when my MRX700 acts up and I get sick of the extra POPs!!! during 30 second skips. The Onkyo doesn't sound as good, but no noise in channels and PoPS.

I miss my money. I've never had such a bad experience like this before.

Hey, they want to do the "tested before it left Paradigm" routine too. But then I called my dealer 2 weeks later and he told me they had supply problems and they thought they could start the "2 week test" on the 19th of July. On the 26th I called (my dealers phone doesn't call out, I guess) and found out they hadn't started yet. Got more of the "tough industry, tough economy" routine from my dealer. Today I found out my dealer is just getting back from vacation on Wednesday. Yeah, times are rough.

Doesn't sound like the "tested before it left Paradigm" helped you in any way. Oh boy. I've found CS to not like to go past "what FW version do you have?" then it's "contact your dealer". Who contacts THEM again. rolleyes.gif

I just wish that I had picked my receiver up locally instead of driving an hour and a half to save 10%. I never expected to have to make 3-4 more trips just to exchange product. And like I stated earlier...what can I expect 2-3 years down the road? At least the retailer is having problems with their in store demo unit as well. Makes it easier to get them to understand why I want out of this deal...

I don't expect to have it much past warranty. No way it'll hold up. Internal power will give out(which I'm pretty sure is my problem) or I'll start loosing speakers from the pops, if they get worse. Or just get sick of dealing with a problematic product.

Knowing what I know now. I would have HAPPILY paid what I did for the receiver just to not have gone through ANY of this. But now I've got nearly 6 months, that USB converter, a Windows emulator (yes, I have a MAC), and a copy of windows, stress, gas, plus the taxes....all invested.

I mean I really wish I had never bought it, but if I could go back, it would be worth the money I paid for the receiver(MRX700) to avoid ALL OF IT and save some of the money for the extras I had to pay for to use it. I really would, it would be a victory at this point.

And my dealer......well.........

By the way, that "hiss" many of you hear. My first unit had a "gurgling" noise in the SL channel. My current unit has a "sizzling" noise out the FL channel. And when the 700 "acts up" the noise goes to ALL channels, plus, I get codec POPs and a crackling noise during 30 second skips. I'm even getting crackling during straight viewing now. It gets worse the longer you have the unit on. The channel noise even increases in volume, but I can't find a relationship for the volume increases.

It's amazing how many people have noise in different channels with these things. I think if more people used headphones, more people would notice it. You REALLY hear it through the headphone jack. Especially, if you give it some time to warm up.

Any chance it's a ground-loop hum? Just a thought. I had one until I ran my power and D*tv coax through my PS Audio power conditioner.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start some kind of a poll. People with problems tend to post on the internet more than people without, but nevertheless we would get an idea of how widespread problems are.

Quick question:

I updated to 50.24 a few weeks ago and just saw that 50.25 is the newest release. Do I need to upgrade to 50.25?

(I don't use Zone 2 audio at all)
