The D2 has twice the ARC processing than the MRXs do. For other features someone who owns or owned one could probably help more. You should probably post this on the D2/D2v thread.

Use Print Screen or alt-Print Screen to take a screenshot of your charts, then open the Paint program and Paste (ctl-V) the screenshot and then save to a file.

What brand/model are your front L/R speakers? My first thoughts are either 1) your speaker placement has put the L/R in a 200Hz room mode null or 2) there's an out-of-phase issue with the cross-overs at 200Hz. Not knowing your room dimensions and speaker placement, or the make/model of speakers, we can only speculate.

Focal 836 Chorus V

I was testing a Marantz with Audyssey and it told me they were out of phase, but the wiring is correct. My Onkyo with the same audyssey never showed it.
Your Focal's have a lower crossover at 250Hz, but the null on your graphs appears to be dead-on 200Hz.

You could try using the real-time measurement feature of ARC to determine if moving the L/R has any affect on the null at 200Hz.

They are pretty close to the back wall, but about 6 feet from the side walls. How does the rest look? Im confused about the cutoffs.....Especially on the music side and the cutoffs on the sub, should I make changes? How do the other look? Remember Im new to this...lol

I purchased a brand new MRX-300 from a local dealer a couple of months ago. I have been very happy with it... until tonight. I finally got around to running the wire for my rear surround speakers ( running 7.1) and once hooked up I noticed constant crackling sound (loud static-type sound) coming from the left rear. I swapped speakers and cables (twice) and got the same result. This crackling sound is only coming from the newly hooked up left rear channel. The unit shipped with 50.23 firmware and I fear this is not a firmware issue. frown.gif

I dread the thought of returning it to the dealer and being without my theater. I just sold the perfectly functioning 7.1 receiver which the Anthem replaced. Figures. mad.gif

Any advice?

Just to rule out the firmware, upgrade to 50.25. If it persists check the speaker wires to make sure it isn't the connections. If that checks out, call or email Anthem.

I just got an MRX300 and I love it. I do seem to have a problem, though. Every once in a while the entire video output appears to go through a purple filter. Everything, buttons, the image itself, everything looks purple. Sometimes changing inputs makes it go away and everything looks normal. Some other times I need to turn the unit off and back on to make it go away. PVR and BDP are connected via HDMI, as is the TV (an older 1080i rear projector). Any ideas?

Thanks. I called Anthem this morning. Their reccomendation is also to update the firmware as well as performing a system reset. Barring that solving anything, they said to bring it to the dealer for a no-hassle exchange for a new unit. This made me happy. I called the dealer and they put their last unit in stock on hold for me until I try the firmware/reset tonight. This also made me happy as I feel confident that I will not be without my theater for any duration if the receiver is defective in any way.

So far so great on the customer service angle, both from Anthem and my dealer. I'll report in on the end result.

Question, I am hearing a "crackle" when ever I start decoding Dolby Tru or DTS Master, it happens a few times at the start of the material and then goes away. Anyone had this happen? I am running the latest 50.25 firmware and it doesnt do it after about 30-45 seconds of playing. I just got the unit Monday and wondering if I should have them get me a new unit....I have changed HDMI cables and inputs and still the same. Outside of that, I love it. My Focals are performing like they never have before!

In all fairness, don't bother. Just contact your dealer. I had the misfortune to have a truly bad MRX300. I emailed Anthem and after about 3 seconds of troubleshooting, they told me to contact the dealer. Save yourself the trouble, this is why you buy from reputable dealers, they will talk to Anthem and have your problem rectified.

Dealers aren't tech support but if Anthem, in the end, wants replace the unit, the dealer will be involved.

So...I have a Paradigm Sub 15 on order to replace my REL Storm. My question is whether I should just use ARC for bass management or buy the PBK for $250 to set up the Sub in the room first and then run ARC on top of the eq'd sub. On the one hand it seems redundant, but on the other it seems like I'd be eq'ing some of the room anomolies out of the sub by using the PBK first. Confused eek.gif

I'm just telling everyone my experience. I had a unit that would not accept a firmware upgrade. The tech person at Anthem never had me do any diagnostics, he immediately had me contact my dealer. When I took my unit to my dealer, he called Anthem tech support and they walked him through a whole bunch of steps and after about 30 minutes determined that my unit was indeed defective. Why didn't Anthem have me do those steps? They immediately referred me to my dealer. Again, I'm just relating my experience with Anthem tech support.

Well, I'm now running firmware 50.25 and the hissing/crackling persists. I can barely hear the audio track behind all of the static through the left rear surround. It's really bad. I spoke to my dealer and made arrangements to swap it for a new unit tomorrow.

I thought the PBK kit was $99. However I used both PBK and ARC to tame my sub 25. Run PBK to set the best position. After PBK has been set, then run ARC. My chart in the FAQ, shows my measurement with PBK and it is very flat from 100-20Hz. The sub 15 is an excellent addition to your system. Set it up right and you will hear and feel great LFE.

As long as you are served well, then that's what matters.

Thanks John! Perhaps it went up in price but I believe the MSRP is actually $299! I'm going to get it so I can optimize my sub in the room. That should make it a breeze for ARC to dial in the full system. Can't wait to re-watch and re-listen to some of my favorite movies and music!
