But now that means at least two new threads... one for the new MRX 2nd edition series and the other for the new and improved ARC 1M.

Cheers.

Looks sharp. Love the idea of ARC over ethernet, assuming it still runs on Parallels, rather than the clunky serial thingy. (Mac version anyone?)

I wonder if the 310 is 5.1 channel only, or if it still has preouts for surround back.

The new MRX won't have Mac support, will still have to boot camp it

I sure hope it has pre outs for the back, but I'm guessing not. I suspect they had too many takers on the 300, which was undoubtedly the lowest margin of the three. They needed additional motivation for us all to move up to the 510. Which is what I will have to do if that is the case ...

My biggest concern as well, especially since the 310 starts kind of delayed into the market there might be some major differences other than just the amp section.

I would be OK with a 310 if there is a 7.2 pre out but only if the amp section is flexible enough so I can use it just for all the sourrounds and have the mains on external amp instead.

But I also see the 310 as kind of an entry point into the brand itself, they need such a lower cost model to get volume in sales. IMO they just need to make sure when ppl add up or upgrade they buy Anthem again. Until now there hasn't been an obvious choice of additional amps for MRX entry line. A 310 with an additional 2ch amp or woofer amp could easily make more money than a 710 alone (savings on rubbish tuner and player sections even). When space is a concern ppl will buy a 510 anyways, additional amps have a lower WAF index also.

It is hard to say if that will be the case but I think it will be for ARC. There should be no reason to have to have a Windows machine just for the firmware upgrades if they are using the USB for upgrades like their ad states.

Cheers.

Hello, everyone. I planned to buy 2nd handed AVM 50 (not 50V) but did not come with ARC-1 kit. Can I use my MRX300's ARC kit to connect AVM 50 to cal ARC? Thanks~

No. The microphone from MRX 300 is only useable on that particular MRX300 which use is protected via the MRX 300 units serial number.

Not true at all. The serial match is between the the calibration file on the cd and the mic. It can be used with the avm too

Are you sure? My response was based upon the following statement from my MRX 700 manual. My MRX 700 manual states that "your ARC microphone, its support files & your receiver are a system with matching serial numbers."

Hi all

I'm running a 2.1 system with my Mrx 700. I have issues with the voices sometimes not coming out I'm sure its just a setting but I have everything set to down mix Dolby 5.1 mixes to 2.1 and it just doesn't seem to happen all the time. Any ideas?

I don't think the 300 is delayed. When the MRX line came out the same release schedule happened. 500 and 700 first in the fall and the 300 followed in January/February.

I agree the new MRX line looks very nice. It has a very Rotel look to it.

Any more new info on the MRX-510 and 710. I'm definitely ordering the 510 the day it is released. When I first received the MRX-300 I about threw it in the trash because of the difficulty in running and uploading the ARC file but I found I had a faulty Keyspan adapter and purchased a new one and everything has been musical bliss since then.

I can't imagine how good the new units will sound with the Gen 2 ARC that is going to be in on the 510 and 710.

Legairre,

I agree. I think the new look looks great. Clean and simple. I can't wait to get the 510.

Do you think the 310, 510 and 710 will be the same sounding units as the 300, 500 and 700 were?
The current MRX looks ugly in pictures but in real life its one of the nicest looking avrs, it looks like an Anthem product, this new MRX looks very nice but it doesn't look like an Anthem product, I wish they made it look more like their D2v gear.

how can i hook my macbook air up to my mrx 300? been a long time since ive been here, Not sure if finding out anthem coming out with new mrx is good or bad for my bank account LOL

edit* just ordered a cable that goes from my MBA to hdmi. so i can hook it up via HDMI.

Now for stickly music out of my MBA, do you think it would be best to run it through the emotiva XDA-2 then to the mrx300 vs using that hdmi cable straight to the MRX. (for video watching i can use that cable)

Another option is to simply add an AppleTV, which will let you stream audio and video from any computer running iTunes.

Depending on how close you are to the receiver, you could connect a digital optical cable from your headphone jack to the optical in on your MRX. You would need the mini-Toslink adapter, once you put it in your headphone jack, it becomes a digital out.

Do you have an iPad / iPhone? You can AirPlay soundcloud / YouTube to the AppleTV. They may also have a Mac store app, not sure.

I might be interested in the 710........will need to know more and have a listen. If it does not have HDMI 2.0 then it would not be "Prudent at this Juncture".

hmm, ill look into that thanks, i will be about 8-10ft from the receiver. but for music i may even just leave the laptop beside the t.v. But if i wanted to listen to music and do stuff on the laptop i would need a cable to wrap around the room a bit and to the couch.

China eventhough it's understood they have changed factories since the MRX 300, 500 and 700 were released.
