Hi there, I was wondering what the best solution to go from "No music or audio components in the room" to "Playing CD's, having a Radio Tuner, and having a way to plug in a source that has a headphone jack on it, like an mp3 player, to fill a room."
Ideally, I'd like to be able to have at least two (preferably three) cd's in the thing at some time, and the speakers should be able to be physically separate from the device(s) it(them)-selves. If necessary, the multiple cd thing can be dropped.
If it matters, this is in Central and Northern Kentucky, and we can order online, and it is possible to go drive somewhere for a deal. Also, if feasible, one single system would be ideal, but we can definitely follow instructions to put something together.
The room is 700 square feet, with laminate floor and drywall, and it's likely going to be on a bookshelf or table of some sort, likely fairly close to a wall, but any 'serious' listening is likely going to be done somewhat close to the thing, and there's no desperate need to make the whole room sound 'great' when it is being used for background music. There is an NPR HD station in the area that we might want to listen to.
Also, the 'stretch' budget is $300 USD. The 'ideal' budget is <$200 usd. I don't really want to get something crappy, I'd rather get something recommended as good at this task. Thanks!
FYI: We've been looking at the Onkyo CS-325. Good choice?
