David Lynch's Lost Highway - French release

Lost Highway has just been released in France by MK2. It's quite expensive to import, but it's a solid looking release.

The disc 'presents' itself as being region-B locked but I was able to bypass it quite easily.
If you're a fan of the film, like I am, you might want to pick this up - it obliterates my previous DVD-copy.

Some details on the region-coding and screenshots HERE.

Do you also have Twin Peaks: FWWM that was also just released? I wonder if the dialogue in the bar sequence with the subtitles is correctly mixed this time.

I had a quick look at Twin Peaks, don't know about the bar sequence. I am glad I didn't purchase it though, the quality isn't up to standard.

One of my favorite ever... stay calm... stay calm...

I'm beyond ecstatic that this has been released. Screw the cost, I'm importing.

Some comparisons with the most recent R2-dvd I have.

Don't know if this transfer is similar to the MK2 dvd - but by all means it is terrible.

Dialog on the Twin Peaks disc is correct for the Red Room scene. English subs are also intact where they need to be.

Amazon.fr has these shipping in 1 to 3 weeks. Are there any other good alternatives for importing these discs to the US?

I got it at FNAC.com.

I am interested as I love the film--but waht does it mean as far as having to bypass the region coding?

On the region-A player I tested (LG BD-350) - the disc profiles itself as Region-B locked via a warning screen. I could bypass the screen via my remote, and the disc played fine.

The Lost Highway BD doesn't work on my region A PS3. When it starts playing, I just get a black screen (not even a "this disc is region B only" screen) and I can't do anything but stop the disc. Fortunately, I have another player that is region-free, but if you're using a PS3, I wouldn't assume this title will be playable.

I will test if the disc-generated warning is by any chance 50i. That would explain possible compatibility issues.

Is there any update on this? I'd like to order the disc but I don't know if it would work in my R1 Oppo BDP-80.

It's region-locked. But if you have an Oppo player, you should really considering getting a region-free mod;

Getting the Oppo modded is THE BEST HT TWEAK ON EARTH.

I tried ordering this from FNAC.com like BsRoz did, but they said they would not ship the disc to the US.

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if they've changed their policies. Does anyone know of a place I can order this? Thanks.

FNAC, like Amazon, has 3rd party sellers. Just checked and FNAC does not have Lost Highway in stock, but it's available from 4 different vendors, so it's the 3rd party vendor that does not ship to the US. FNAC does ship to the US, for items they sell directly.

I've had Lost Highway and Twin Peaks FWWM on order from Amazon.fr since early January. They long ago shipped all the other titles in the order, but they are keeping the order open for these two, so it would seem they do expect to get them back in stock eventually.

Thanks for the reply. I wound up ordering a new copy from a reseller on the Amazon.fr marketplace.

I paid more than I wanted to, but I really love the movie and the waiting was bothering me more than the paying, so that's that.
