I live in NJ and I am looking to get some Berklines for my room. When do these Power Buys end? I probably won't be able to make a purchase until the end of December

The power buy as indicated on the PB page is running until end of this year.
I see a lot of items starting with 12xxx on the power buy page, but on Berkline's Home Theater seating page, all of the chairs are in a group starting with 45xxx. Do you have any of those as part of the pb? (In particular I am interested in the 45004 group, 3 wide with armrests between each seat).

Also, is it possible to assemble a Berkline set of recliners such that there isn't an armrest between each seat? I am very limited on space in the room I have at home, 100 inches across is really pushing it as it is, and most of the Berkline's seem to be quite wide. I do have enough clearance behind the seat (they will back up near a low to the floor radiator).

Thanks for your help - and btw, I am located in NJ, and would be picking up from the warehouse (or better yet, bringing the wife down for a visit so she could try out first).

anon7979,

1. Anything that Berkline makes is under Power Buy.
2. All the groups that start with "45" are domestic groups. We do not stock them. These can be custom ordered only. You can get pretty much any configuratino you want, you can choose your cover, grade of fabric or leather, add options like lighted cup holders, aluminum inserts, buttkickers, etc... They will be quite more expensive and it will take 5-6 weeks to get.
3. The groups that start with "1" are the imported ones, and we stock them. They are quite less expensive and usually available for immediate shipment/pickup. We do have the chairs on the floor in our warehouse, and you are welcome to come, see and try them out. Contact me via email, and I will provide the warehouse address.

Not to rain on Roman's parade because he's a really nice guy but I'd think twice about the Berkline power reclines. I purchased a couple of the power reclines from Roman in 2007 and while the chairs are beautiful and comfortable, both motors on the power recline burnt out with VERY little use. I don't think either chair was sat on more than 10 times before the motors burned out. Needless to say, I'm not impressed, given the price I paid for these two chairs.

Did you contact Berkline about warrenty? I'm curious how their customer service is. All of my research has led me to Berkline being the best seating to consider, so I'm surprised to hear something like this. I'm curious how you resolved it.

For me, I don't plan to get power recline, so I guess it's a non-issue for me. I'm off to check out the powerbuy page.. let us know how you worked your issue out.

John,

I am sorry to hear about your problems, and it is really surprising that you had power recline failure on both chairs. I will be honest, and I will say that power recline does fail once in a while. From my over 8 year experience dealing with the Berkline products I may say that statistically it only shows about 2% failures, and this number is extremely small. I can also say that I sell roughly 99% of the chairs with the power recline, and up to today I literally have 1000s of happy customers (I am sure many folks on this forum will tell you that they had no problems with their chairs). I personally have my chairs for quite along time, and I never experienced power recline failure. Yes, once in a while there could be a problem with a bad transformer or an actuator, but usually it happens (if it happens at all) within the first month or so, and the customer quickly gets a replacement part under warranty. I see that you bought the chairs 3 years ago, and your warranty has expired. In your case you can purchase the replacement parts, and they are not that expensive.

Again, I am sorry for your troubles, and if you need help, contact me off line, and I will try my best to help you out.

I have had 3 Berkline power chairs for over 6 years with a lot of use and have no issues. Still work as good as the day I got them.

This is why I ultimately decided against the power option. I have three Pallisar Pacifico's on the way but only one with power recline. I'm sure they are very nice but it's just one more thing that can break and cause headaches. It may only happen in one out of a hundred chairs, but it's not worth the problems for something that is only marginally better(IMHO)

kdog750,

So, when you buy a car you get only one door with automatic window opener, and the rest are manual?

Just kidding

Actually, all of my cars have the auto up/down at a tap feature that only works for the driver's window.

While I too did experience problems with my motorized recline, they did occur early on in the life of the chairs (still under warranty) - was either a bad actuator or bad transformer. Roman was top notch in getting everything quickly resolved.

As to sitting on the fence whether to go power or manual, hands down (no pun intended) power all the way. I am not the most mechanically inclined and I was able to repair the chairs myself once I received the new parts from Berkline. IMHO, the power option is priceless and affords much more flexibility in actual seating positions. With the manual, it's either up or down, with no in-between.

I just took delivery of three 12010's with power recline. Very pleased with the quality and comfort of these chairs. This was a blind purchase as there very few dealers in the Savannah area and none with imported Berklines. I was able to test some 45090's at a local high-end retailer and the 12003's that Sam's club sells. IMHO, the 12010's are more comfortable than the 12003's with a firmer cushion and a nice padded headrest. These chairs are made in a different factory than the 13000 series chairs and the quality is very nice.

I chose these chairs because I was looking for the narrower "space-saver" design and I wanted the chaise style. I didn't notice them on the website, but Roman made the recommendation when I told him I was torn between the 13174's and 13175's. I think they provide the best of both designs and am very happy.

Roman was a pleasure to do business with. He was very responsive to my questions and he helped me work through a delivery issue.

Highly recommended!

I feel like I'm being tortured. YRC has had my 3 - 12003's here in town since Tuesday night and still never called to schedule a delivery. I'm super excited to finally have more than one chair in my theater. Roman was a pleasure to work with. If they don't call me Monday I might just have to go to their distribution center and grab them myself.

Don't miss the chance to get amazing prices on these chairs.

Just wanted to post as another happy customer of Roman's. I was torn between the 13175s and 12000s, I was able to see the 13175 in person at a local store, but really liked the look of the 12000s much better, and through feedback of Roman's, I decided to go w/ the 12000's, and couldn't be happier. Just moved the chairs into my theater room this week-end, and I couldn't be happier with the decision, they look great and are very comfortable...

I am not comfortable with the "sight unseen" approach to buying, so I did have to find a retailer (~an hour from my house) that carried the 45002s.

When I saw the showroom floor pricing on the chairs, I had pretty much resigned myself to only purchasing three, though ultimately, I wanted four for my theater. My wife was hesitant to go with the higher end chairs until she sat in these bad boys! It was an immediate sell as far as she was concerned.

I have read PLENTY on the forums here about Roman (@ rtheaters.com) and how great he was to work with, but this also coming from folks who spent $10k on a projector...that's a completely different league from my budget! Naturally, I was a bit skeptical, but figured even a little bit of savings was better than nothing, so I gave Roman a call.

He was very knowledgeable about the recliners and made recommendations on the add-ons he would suggest and the ones he would suggest against. After a few questions on what I wanted (since the 45xxx are made to order), the order was complete...and at an AMAZING price!! I was able to get the four chairs I wanted (45002s) and STILL came in under budget.

Within a few weeks (under the estimated time for shipping!) I received a notice that my chairs were going to be delivered!! However...there was a discrepancy with the number of items the company was delivering versus what I had ordered. I contacted Roman and he got in touch with Berkline to get it corrected. Berkline had fat-fingered one of the part numbers in their system incorrectly, so I initially received only three chairs. After Roman talked to them and they realized their error, the put a rush build on the missing chair. Estimated completion date for having the chair built was 12/10. I am happy to say that I received my final chair today!!

The chairs are amazingly comfortable. I got the bonded leather because I was looking for the same buttery soft feel of the material that we had sat on in the store. These did not disappoint. After a few minutes of assembly, the chairs are up and ready to go. They are the power reclines with the power headrests (which is an incredible feature for those of us north of six feet tall!). I love these chairs.

Some have mentioned their chairs' motors burning out in as little as 10 uses. Being the skeptic, I wanted to make sure that something like that didn't happen so I have opened and closed the recliners and raised and lowered the headrest about 2 dozen times, per chair. Only one had an issue with the recliner closing. I unplugged and re-plugged the control from the power unit and all is well. No issues since.

Time will tell, but I can say that I will happily (and comfortably!) be putting them to the test!

Bottom line, I highly recommend Roman for your purchase and I definitely recommend the 45002s for comfort!!

Folks,

The blankets are not shipped with the chairs. The blankets will be ordered after the power buy is over and will be drop shipped to each qualifying PB participant directly from the manufacturer sometime in January.
Another A+ for Roman!
Chairs were shipped same day as payment cleared. Chairs were delivered the 3rd business day later. Good communication the whole way: Payment cleared, Shipping date, tracking number, etc.

Folks,

Just a reminder that we have only have one week left. the Power Buy will be over by the end of this month.

Please do not wait until the last minute with your orders.

Happy Holidays!
We received our 13175 chairs and they have been a big hit during the christmas holiday. Delivered quickly and the UPS guy made sure we looked at them for he left which was nice of him. The fit was just right in our downstairs ghetto HT room. I also opted to install the cheaper Aura but shakers in these motorized recliners and they work really well. People have been impressed with the effect. Probably not nearly as good as what Roman installs, but I wanted to go with this first since it was a bit easier on the pocket book. We are now the goto place for our kids to have sleepovers.

Happy New Year to all!

We test-sat the Berkline 45038's at a furniture store today. To be honest, they didn't "ft" that well & there was another manufacturer that had more comfortable seats on display. The reason the Berkliners weren't comfy is the seat depth was too long - DH & I are between 5'6" & 6', and our thighs weren't long enough so either our feet dangled (if we sat all the way back in the seat) or our lower backs complained if we sat normally.

Here's the deal, though, I'd much rather buy seats that are made in the US than ones shipped over on a container from China (the other manufacturer builds in China, though their name is Italsofa, and leadtime is 18+ weeks). If Berkline has any 450xx models that have a shorter "knee to butt" length that would be perfect.

I know this info won't let us make a decision in time for this powerbuy - but it would be great to have for the next one (assuming there is a next one). We need 4 seats (|-|--|-|) in straight configuration with leather group 2 (leather/vinyl combo) and power recline. Well, "need" is probably too strong of a word ...

Roman (or anyone else) - does Berkline make this kind of info available? Or are there recommended seats for shorties who like great lumbar support?

Muchas Gracias for any assistance or info..

EChic,

The Berkline domestic groups have slightly different reclining mech., and it makes the seat to be slightly higher. While I agree with you that seating in the upright position is a bit awkward (feet dangled), these chairs are not designed for that. As soon as you seat down in these recliners you WANT to recline, and then it does not really matter. It actually beneficial for long legged guys since the footrest is about 1" longer, so their feet have better support.

Berkline also makes some furniture overseas (all the HT groups that start with "1"). These chairs seat lower, and possibly you would like them better in that sense, but again to me it should be irrelevant. I personally do not know too many people who would want to seat in the straight upright position in these recliners.
Hi Roman,

Thanks for replying. You make some good points about normally reclining to watch movies. I think we'll still look for something that sits comfortably when sitting straight up b/c the HT is our only TV in the house and we eat dinner in front of the TV 60% of the time. What can I say, with no kids to set a good example for ... we get lazy like that.

One thing I learned from sitting in the seats at the stores is that power recline is *awesome*. Until I tried it I was thinking, "Who is so lazy they can't even lean back?" but now I'm thinking that we definitely want that feature.

Thanks,
-EChic

EChic,

As I mentioned before, check the imported groups (the ones that start with "1"). They seat lower because of the reclining mech., and they are very comparable in quality and comfort with the domestic ones. They also have the same manufacturer warranty...
