Sourbeef: i requested a last minute change in finish from piano black to satin black bamboo so that i can get towers and Horizon (both with RAAL) at the same time instead of waiting on custom piano black Horizon and Ascend is shipping them today. Sorry i am no longer on custom piano black Horizon waiting list.

what finish were these

I believe that's just the standard matte black finish.

Wow the reflection off the Towers are amazing...that piano gloss looks unbelievable...now just give us a quick compro how they souund vs. your current Polks seen in the background...jk.....

Enjoy them....because they'll sound as good as they look if not better...

While in the middle of setting them up I listened to music and had one Ascend Tower and one Polk Rti8 running together. I walked back and forth between them. The Ascend is heads and tails better with clarity of the instruments. The Polk just sounded muddled by comparison. So psyched.

During setup I played some music through one Ascend Sierra Tower and one of my current Polk Rti8's at the same time. I was quite impressed with how crisp and clean the Ascend sounded compared to the Polk which just sounded muddled in comparison. I have been listening to Linda Ronstadt, the album she did with the Nelson Riddle orchestra and it is sounding fantastic....and I haven't recalibrated yet.....for one, the Onkyo Audyssey is no longer working, and two, I am expecting a new Denon 4520 with Audyssey XT-32 in a couple of weeks at which time I will calibrate with it. Psyched

Lol, the thought went through my heads as well I was Hm, I'll probably end up with a Rythmik sub, PB sub:D, why not get some towers the same finish.Then I woke up

Damn...I almost ordered the piano black but went with matte black to save money and for durability. Still feeling a bit jealous but it's the sound that really counts.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a piano black fan to begin with, but that bamboo black satin finish is VERY classy. If hadn't already owned a pair, I'd be getting those.

Edit - I see you said the matte finish, but I was thinking the satin.

Don't feel bad, you are not alone, in my case I actually ordered piano black and changed the finish to black bamboo on the day of they were scheduled to ship out because I wanted front 3 speakers at the same time and according Dave piano black center would take several weeks if not months, otherwise I am a fan of piano black finish. Anyway 151 pounds of awesomeness is scheduled to arrive on Monday the 17th.

OK, so I am not well versed on what all this means. These diagrams were included, one with each tower. Can someone tell me the significance of this......and I hope it is a good thing

Yup...it is good thing.

They are on-axis graphs of each speaker, and how they tested before they were packaged and shipped to you.

Every speaker Ascend sells is tested at the Ascend shop before it is packaged. For Sierra monitors and towers, Ascend includes the graph.

Do you also get one for Center channel matched +/-1db with towers?

I'm not sure how that works with a center channel delivered at different time, or because it is a somewhat different configuration.

It may not be +-1dB, but it will be close.

Got my raal towers. They're awesome and worth upgrading from sierra bookshelves. I didn't notice the huge difference at first but after going through some better recorded stuff at higher volume the benefits are evident. Awesome separation and balance. No harshness or unwelcome peaks. Currently crossed over at 50hz. So far so good!

Just finished unpacking, they are not hooked up yet, I need to move HTPC and Blu-ray/CD player from the old setup before I can listen to music and provide impressions

Congrats to you new Tower owners hope you guys get to enjoy them as much as I'm enjoying mine, that set looks beautiful, nice and clean the ways I would love things

Dave was right. 60hz crossover is perfect.

@avsnoob- Your speakers will sound better if you move them apart a couple more feet.
