Brandon,

The room with all that gear looks outstanding. I didn't realize that you had an A51 amp, very nice. Is that a different room (new house)?

Dan,

I believe Brandon is using Sierra-1s for surrounds. But don't quote me on that.

Hey Steve

Still thinking of a speaker upgrade?

Agree on the room Bill, I think Brandon is a little occupied to answer anyone at the moment.

Currently going through a speaker search for my new HT. Listening to many speakers for 3 + months and my search is not complete. I have a real strong interest in Ascend Sierra Towers (and Horizon) for HT. Need to find someone in the Central New Jersey, North New Jersey, NYC area that will be gracious enough to spend a little time with me for a demo of the Towers. Would love to hear the Horizon, as well, however, will take what I can get.
Will also travel to South Jersey or Philly area if needed to expand the possibilities of a listen to these speakers. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey Rob, once I get mine and set up perhaps you can make it to Inwood Manhattan, it could be a little lively neighborhood but once you're indoors and the movies are ah playing everything else doesn't really matter..Also Lou can probably make it the same day, I'll try to get my girls out for some loud fun

Need to work on getting an amp, so it should be a few weeks or so after getting my Towers along with the center.

Djoel,
That would be awesome!. I really appreciate the invite. I'm available weekends, as well as, I work near WTC and am available after work. Also, willing to take a day off for a listen. Whenever you're set up and time is convenient for you, let me know. Keep in touch.
Thanks, Rob

No problem, that's a good idea to play a little hookey from work too.
Your mostly into music or movies?

Just remember to wear socks without any holes in them. We take off our SHOES! in my place.

You may want to keep an eye on our SE WI GTG thread for thoughts on our upcoming speaker comparision including my Ascend RAAL towers, a pair of Philharmonics, some salk speakers, among others. I always like reading peoples thoughts on speakers then using the info to begin narrowing down your choices which will best suit you.

Perfect, like I mentioned above maybe we can do this the same day Rob comes by.

A little pizza, a few beers along with some high octane films, with smooth Jazz or what ever you guy bring.

Dan,
Currently, my use is 95% movies/sports/TV and 5% music videos (mostly my teenage girls). I wish I had more time for music listening, however, with my schedule I need to be realistic. With new speakers I'm sure I'll find time to sneak off from the family and listen to music. A combination of music and movies would be great.
I'll remember to leave the holely socks at home.
Also, I'll cover the pizza and beer fund.
Thanks, Rob

Are there any professional reviews/measurements of the Horizon Center yet?

That's funny! I am familiar with taking off shoes ... but never heard about taking off socks!
^^^We are a "no shoes in the house" household. But socks are "optional" you can leave them on or off your choice.

Interesting though if you are going to take your socks off anyway would it matter if they were "holey"?

Dunno......

I'm guessing Dan meant "We take off our shoes in my place".

Very cool, DaveF assured me , unless some major earth chattering happens he'll be shipping my speakers this week, with a few mod to the binding post and the cross over delaying the process a bit, thought I'm very excited by this whole experience.

For me music has to be first, I get cranky if I go too long with out a listening session, and of course movies have to be done well too. I've always thought if a speaker can do music well, then movie is pretty much covered. This being a new speaker which I've have never experience I want to hear what these babies can do with some block buster film.

Thanks and glad you understood me on the sock bit

Not yet. All I'm aware of is the one review of the standard Towers.

Nuance...it is quite impressive.

I knew before that the center channel is asked to do a lot in HT, but hearing a center channel that is as capable as the Horizon, especially with movie special effects (a lot comes through the center channel), was an "ear" opener. The dynamics it is capable of are pretty special.

If the size of the center isn't an issue, I certainly think it is the way to go, but as you can see in merrymaid's pic, it ain't small...although his pics make it look bigger than I thought it was in person. Maybe it is his small TV.

It would be nice to have everyone over to see the new place and of course hang out. If we all get seperation anxiety after the April GTG, problem solved
