Buttkickers with two Berkline 12003s

So I have a two questions (Buttkickers and Berkline 12003s)...

My subwoofer (Klipsch Sub-12) sits next to the listening area with the subwoofer cable already run under & up through the floor. It is around a 25' long Monster cable.

Would it be okay to use a Y-cable at the end of the subwoofer cable line (right before it connects to the sub), creating two LFE cables (one for the sub, one for a Buttkicker amp). Does this mess with the subwoofer signal, somehow?

My receiver does have two Sub outputs but I wouldn't need the wireless option if done this way. (or the need to run more cables under the floor)

My next question would be regarding a set of Berkline 12003s.
What would the necessary Buttkicker be for two Berkline 12003s?
This would be the one full chair on the left and a right-arm-only chair right next to it.

Would two Buttkicker Minis do the job adequately? With the BKA-130-OE Buttkicker mini-amp? I only am interested in the Buttkickers for two seats only.

Thanks in advance.... from the great state of Maine.

Yes, you should be fine with a 'Y' splitter at the end of this cable.

I would suggest the Buttkicker Advance for these chairs. You will either need to purchase a mounting system for them or make your own. The spacing is tight with the reclining mechanism. Also, the Crown XLS 1000 would be a nice amp to power the BK's. You may need a line-level amp to boost the line signal from your AV Receiver going into the Crown, however.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be glad to assist.

Hi, Ken...thanks for the reply. Nice site by they way...I checked it out.

You are recommending one Buttkicker Advance unit for each chair?
Probably a dumb question but not sure if the Berkline 12003s actually connect together or not....haven't purchased them yet...in research mode right now. So I take it the Minis wouldn't cut it because of....?

Would the cost of a line-level-amp offset the savings of not using the Buttkicker Wireless Kit?

Thank you, and you're welcome.

Yes, one unit per chair.

In my discussions with Guitammer (the folks that make the Buttkicker products) they have recommended one BK Advance per chair at a minimum. The Buttkicker Mini was designed for the Berkline 088 (now the 45088) and other similar, smaller-framed chairs. It works in that chair well, but I wouldn't use it in a larger chair.

They physically sit together next to each other. If they are going on carpet this won't be an issue since they weigh about 100 lbs each. If they are going on tile or hardwood then there are ways to connect them together. But the usual scenario, especially in a home theater, is carpet.

You mean two wireless BK-300-4 Amps? The Crown, line level amp and cables would work out to be a little less than two of the BK-300-4 amps. Or course you don't get the wireless functionality of the BK-300-4's: Each amp is controlled with a small wireless remote if you go that route. It's a nice setup if you can stash the amps right behind each chair. One word of caution on the wireless amps, though. They all use the same wireless frequency. If they are positioned direcly behind the chairs there does not seem to be much cross-talk at all. I was able to get a demo in High Point, NC where Berkline and Guitammer had a display of four chairs with Buttkickers and four amps. They seemed to work fine with that setup.

You do not need two wireless BKA300-4 amplifiers. You can get one BKA300-4NW and one BKA300-4 (w/wireless link). The amplifiers can be daisy chained. Advantage of using individual buttkicker amplifiers is the fact that you can control each chair independently, and they will not be more expensive then the CROWN amp.

One BKA300-4NW amplifier can either power one advanced BK4-LFE or up to 4 BK-minis.

Excellent, thanks for the reply, Roman....I've been looking at your site as well.

After thinking about it, I think the most cost effective way for me would be to spend $15 +/- for another 25' sub-cable and utilize the 2nd subwoofer pre-out on my Onkyo 608. Spending the time to run the cable under the floor would not really be a huge deal with my ranch house.

$15 sub cable < $50 wireless option = $35 savings (plus quicker Buttkicker response)

So correct me if I'm wrong here...

Initial cost for setting up wired BK's on two Berkline recliners, not including miscellaneous speaker wire:

$15 subwoofer cable
$260 for (2) BKA-300-4NW wired amps
$332 for (2) BK Advance units
$607 total assuming free shipping & no tax.

Yikes. That is significantly more than the BK mini set-up I was originally considering. But nonetheless, better to get the right system now than be disappointed with something under-par.

Would mounting kits be needed, and what about dampening items for the chairs?

If you already have the chairs you can purchase the mounting kit, or build one yourself depending how handy you are. I do recommend getting the rubber isolators and replacing all plastic feet under the chairs to damp all the vibrations that come from the buttkickers.

Depending on which chair oyu have, you man need between 8 to 12 isolator per chair.

I do not have the chairs yet... am doing my research now for the entire recliner / Buttkicker set-up.

Currently have a 7.1 Klipsch set-up and have been in the market for two HT recliners for a while now.

Only a few days ago did I find out about Buttkickers.... believe it or not...didn't even know they existed before.
