I don't own one, but you are talking about a projector that is more than 5 years old. It seems like there are a few more recent PJs choices available to you.

Why this one?

I'm able to get it for $100. It's gonna be my 1st pj.

$100 is great, but realize that a new lamp will run you $200-$300 more. So, your investment will likely be the total of that in a short period of time. I'm not trying to be a downer, but I do want you to have an expectation that it's probably not $100 and happiness.

Here is a review. It sounds good for $100.

Sounds like $100 worth spending. Good luck!

I bought this projector in 2005 and owned it until a month ago when I sold it and purchased a JVC D-ila HD250. CNET has a review from 2005 of the projector. To my eyes it throws a decent picture. You're not going to a find a projector as good for $100. You'll enjoy the picture, especially with this being your first projector.

I owened the Sharp DT-400 which is the same projector and lasted 3 or 4 years. I bought a replacment bulb and when I started it the Color Wheel shattered after 2 hours. Watch out for non sharp bulbs as sharp bulbs have a black coating on the ouside of the bulb that stops light from coming thru and lighting of the side wall.

Something sounds fishy....who would have a 5 year old projector with only 40 hours on it at $100?

He probably means the projector has a replacement lamp and the lamp has 40 hours on it.

I bought one as a factory refurb for 400$, after 5 hours on the new bulb the color wheel shattered.250-290$ will get the new wheel.I think it is a good PJ,with a nice shortish throw, and a good picture.
