I am little confused. It was my understanding per our emails that you would be contacting us about shipping costs and payments (especially since I will be receiving additional items - JBL2226J) , but I have not heard anything yet.
Or did I miss an announcement to the contrary?
Lots of people that preordered the waveguides also ordered compression drivers. Those are the ones I'll be caught up on tomorrow. Because the weight of the waveguide isn't very much, it doesn't really change the shipping price when someone orders a compression driver. So when they order the driver, they already know what the shipping is. Basically it's free shipping on the waveguide when the CD is purchased because the weight doesn't increase enough to change the price.
If you haven't heard anything from me yet, I do have the email, but I haven't had enough time in the day to answer all the emails and package everything. Some days I get 40+ emails. I don't think people believe me, so I'm attaching a screen shot below. This does not include PM's from 3 sites or my personal emails. To reply to all the emails and PM's, it would take me 3-4 hours per day........that would take a huge bite out of my spare time to package things. So I just work through the list as good as I can.
I'm literally working from 7:30 in the morning until about 6:00. Eat dinner, then go back to the shop around 7:00 - 7:30 in the evening to go through order that I think I can get done. Check each waveguide to make sure it's good, wrap it, get the tested CD's from the night before, package the order, weigh the package, print shipping labels, etc. Put as many packages as I can into my hatchback. When it's full, I might do a few more or go home to test CD's. I then drop off the packages after lunch the next day.
Tonight I left the shop at midnight. I brought 35 more compression drivers home and tested all of them so they can be packaged up tomorrow. It's 2:45 a.m right now. But I'm getting through it and things will ease up very soon and all will be back to normal. On past group buys I helped with, it wasn't that bad. Very easy to box up 200 of the same subwoofer drivers, or small speaker flat packs, JBL theater speakers, or whatever, because they're all the same in each box. Plus orders were spread out over months. Right now there were well over 100 orders in 2 weeks. Each order is packaged differently because some don't order CD's, some order 2 of each model. Some want gloss or matte waveguides, or a mix of both. What box do I use for 2 CD's and 7 waveguides? Is it the same box that I used for 4 CD's and 4 waveguides? Every box must be weighed separately. Packaging must be done better than a "company" would because if it gets damaged.....it's on me. So it takes me a bit longer to wrap something to withstand a delivery guy throwing a box out the back of a truck.
I'm honestly doing the best I can in my spare time. The website has helped me track things better. But the problem is that it looks too much like a real "store" and people think I'm running an audio business with employees or something. Not yet my friends, I'm currently just running a landscape business. You'd be surprised how many people ask why they haven't gotten a shipping notice 24 hours after placing the order. Maybe I should hire a part timer, I don't know.
I've had a couple people say that if I had the time to post like this on AVS, then I should have the time to reply to their email. But if you look back, my latest posts are very short. Normally coming between packages, or when I come home for lunch, dinner, or something like that. Or before bed after listening to the whhhhhiiiiiiiirrppppppp whhhhhiiiiiiiirrppppppp whhhhhiiiiiiiirrppppppp of the CD tester.........
Ahhhhhhh, it's stuck in my head now.
Notice the times on the emails below.....there's a good 15 more that don't even show up on the screen shot.
Long story short: I love doing this, and certainly don't mind it at all. But there's simply not enough man hours in the day to reply to each email. I feel bad about that and I'm sorry. But have no fear, I'm getting closer to being caught up.Edited by Erich H - 6/26/12 at 12:00am
