The 10" deltas use a 10.75"deep box but I think you need some space between the screen and speaker. I bet you could make a shallow box but make it taller to get the same volume.

I've got a thread started on diysoundgroup and have measurements coming in a few days. I have 2 cross overs whipped up. One for me and one for the public biggrin.gif

In your case you could do what I'm doing even if it's not in the wall. Just build a 6" deep internal box as large as you can. Divide it into three for each speaker. Alternatively build it into the wall, but don't let it stick out more than I'd venture to say 1.5". Feel free to ask question.

Oh and it's VERY good biggrin.gif

I just finished building an AT screen out of spandex, and I'll build 3x SEOS12 speakers sometimes soon, I hope. The center speaker would go behind the screen but my L&R would sit beside the screen. I love the look of the TD12M and like to look at the speakers while watching movies. LOL

The screen built was around $100. Not too shabby.

Is the finish choice on the SEOS important with an AT screen ? Will the glossy finish be a problem with an AT ?

I felt tempted to see how my Oneida wall measures after this discussion so I got off my butt and did it. Measures great. I'm not surprised since it sounded so good. Really happy. Will update my thread with details later.

Will do. This will be my first capture of in room response with the new speakers, so I get to see all those uncorrected dips and nulls. Can't wait! lol. Outside of improving my listening room, my main objective for this purchase will be to obtain the frd and zma data for my surround build. Should I invest in the DATS system? I'll be using PCD.

Thanks for all the feedback on the on-wall or behind woven screen. Sounds like I have a few options. brian6751, I could go in-wall, but I'd rather not, as it is an exterior wall, and there might need to be some re-wroking of studs to have clearance.

this morning i was scanning drivers and thought that a super budget sattelite could be built around the seos12 and a pair of aura ns6-255's.

they have a really smooth frequency response, are underhung, and are only $9 ea. the only problem that i see is the impedance would be 4 ohms for two.

There has been a lot of talk about those drivers. There was even talk about making it into a flat pack, but it died, because availability of those drivers is probably going to be limited. It does make for a nice budget design.

LTD02, there is a design for that called the Daniel. Cuzed2 is building a variant of it to get 8ohms down below 200hz or so at the expense of size and 2 more drivers.

To all, most of the SEOS designs are over on diysoundgroup. If they were all posted here it would be kind of pushy towards all the sub builds and other types of speaker builds. So if you're hunting for a specific design go to www.diysoundgroup.com/forum/ because even there are quite a few more than just the kits listed for sale on the site. Like the Daniel, my in wall delta max, I have an eminence alpha8a SEOS build that $150 including the entire enclosure or $120 with just the baffle, MTG-90 has the 2226 design there, and he has an 18sounds build I think. Plus some smaller things. You don't have to be a member to see them, so worth surfing around to see what there is.

Parts express has 1,737 of those drivers left. Thats enough to build 868 speakers if you were to use two speakers in each cabinet.

but a lot of (most?) designs use 4 per speaker. Most builders make pairs or triples , which would be about 200 builds total - for a number of different designs I'm aware of. Not to mention a lot of buyers who pick them up just because they are 9 bucks per for a quite good woofer. Last year at this time they had over 6 thousand. I'd be surprised if there were any left by April.

thanks. i didn't see it in the "seos speaker designs" area.

i really like how the designs are listed according to the drivers used and not a bunch of random names.

for example, i know exactly what "JBL 2226H + DNA-360/SEOS-12" means.

i'd have no idea what it was if it was called the argento or the scarto. :-)

Hi all, been lurking for a while. I have 3 SEOS 12" with the 360s. Getting ready to order 2 Tempests. I' m planning on going with the original MAL for center. Have those been kitted up yet? With that small of an enclosure I might even be interested in a flat pack. Anyway my real Q is about cabinet making. I'd like to get the box looking good for SAF so am thinking of using BB and mitering the corners. Will that be strong enough? I might be able to biscuit joint the miters using the smallest biscuits. Also I'm thinking of finishing them in black stain (like some Polks I have). Anyone have any experience with that? Gel stain and a thin coat of water based poly?
