A little later (May 04, 2011).....almost to my last PM now...... Chris was curious if I did a group buy on the SEOS because he knew peope would be interested in using them.

After that last PM on May 4, 2011, Chris replied that he was still going to help with the generic crossover boards:

At that point I wasn't sure if I was bothering Chris or not by offering to help. That was the last PM I sent for 7 months!

I didn't hear much back. But the project was still moving forward here on AVS. Does this sound mean, weird or crazy yet Wayne?

7 months later, about a year after Zilch passed away:

Chris thought putting the name on the back was okay. But then later thought it shouldn't be up to him and wasn't his decision to make. I wanted him to see what I was planning on doing. I also posted the drawing here on AVS.

And my last PM to Chris on December 21, 2011:

You're right Wayne, I wasn't trying to help at all! Once again, you insinuate things without knowing the truth. I'm sure there will be no apologies though.

Wayne, that right there shows that you're only here to aggravate people. You do realize that you're the ONLY one here trying to argue right? And oddly enough, in the whole thread, the only one that has ever tried to start something. Seriously, this thread was going great until you showed up for some reason and literally made stuff up.....without any merit, or any reason to do so. Now you're trying to provoke something that was never there. Maybe you did that on purpose because things were going fine?

You thought it would be fun to stop in and try to stir things up using completely bogus thoughts that we haven't tried to help or wanted to keep Zilch's memory going. And they back fired because I clearly showed that I offered to help anyway I possibly could.

Yet as normal, you'll give no apologies.

Your the only one that is looking bad in this situation and if you are counting on DIY'ers to continue purchasing your items you are doing your-self a great disservice. If you want to hash this out then do it in private, by doing it on a public forum and attacking someone that we all hold in high esteem your really starting a fight your gonna lose.

You are coming at this the wrong way if you really want to help out Chris, think about it.

That's probably for the best. Last time it took a whole brunch of pruning from the mods to make you look like less of an...well..less like how you look right now.

Wow....first, you came here a few months ago trying to bashed the SEOS design. Now you're attempting to discredit the folks behind the project with bogus claims. I believe your motive is quite clear.

I do have some things left from the big group buy a year or so ago. Some huge 36" horns (I just threw 3 more away on Thursday). Some big 1.5" CD's hooked to some mid sized horns, and some other woofers. I had 2 more of those surrounds left, but I literally gave them to one of my friends on Thursday when he helped me load up the dumpster with those big horns and some other junk. I'm clearing space for some more flat packs!

I needed a laugh myself. Yeh, I wish I was close to where you are, I would have gladly helped you move stuff. Why did't you just hang some of them on a wall high up in the warehouse and let them rock?

When I got all of that stuff, the guy had already sold most of the 2" CD's. So those big horns didn't have anything to power them. Only fiberglass, a metal adapter, and a gasket hanging on my wall wouldn't have impressed many people! I think I had about 30 of those things. I kept them for a long time and couldn't bring myself to throw any away.

It's funny because whenever someone ordered any of those big horns from Poland, I had to ship them on a pallet. So guess what I did? I'd put a pair or two on their pallet just in case they could use them, or make them into yard ornaments. I probably got rid of 10 like that, pitched about 12 and might have another 8 left. Sadly, I'll smash another 3 into my dumpster this week if I remember. Maybe I will keep one or two hanging somewhere.

Well, I guess I am kind of a vintage kind of guy. Seems like those Horns must have some age on them and I just cannot get enough of the JBL stuff. I have always been fond of JBL drivers as well as the old Altec, Electrovoice, and I even have a almost mint Western Electric 728b (It is the sweetest driver I have ever heard). Sad that they have to be discarded, but we do what needs to be done. Good luck with all the new tech- I have been a fan for a while now.

The info is out there about Zilchlab needing money, people can donate if they want. Whether they do or not is nobody's business especially another speaker designer/seller/owner.

Any news on the TD12M baffle? Not sure if there were enough demands for you to make the cuts.

Looking to get started to make some SEOS speakers.

So I am psyched..my three Sentinels should be arriving anytime now! I can't wait to get these three built. I have just finished up my two single 18"subs for my family room and am ready to build the lcr. I have been holding off on the subs for the DHT becuase once I get the lcr done, and love them(which I am sure I will) I can place the order for my surround, height, width speakers and build the other subs in the while I wait for that order.

Erich was also kind enough to reach out to me and offer the slot ported version of the baffle, as there were a couple extras. I think the slots look a little more aggressive, so I was happy.

I am curious, what are some of you who have these already using to power them. Not the sentinel in particular, but similar designs. I think I'll experiment, I have some Outlaw 7500s that I was thinking about using with them, but also maybe using in the family room. If the 4520 does the trick in there, it makes it much less $$ for me to get the SEOS setup up and running. If I decide to use the Outlaws in the family room, I looked at maybe the emotiva XPR5s. I need 13 channels of amplification(lcr, rear, two sets of sides, heights and width). 3 XPRs could be had for about $5k. They have a 29db gain as opposed to the 32db of the xpa models. I figured that with such high sensitivity desings, that is a plus. Anything else out there anyone has used that you think would compare favorably for the same or less$$??

To keep things on a positive note - is there a paypal address or some other way to donate to Zilchlab? I would like to see its site grow (last time I checked there wasn't anything there though). Let's not worry about the skill of the request wording but about the issue itself.

I still keep reading the AK thread, and a site with that info more easily browsed or with yet more waveguide info is always welcome.

Yes! Coming from someone new to DIY and the Econowave concept in particular, I found it incredibly difficult to navigate what the options were. In fact, I started a spreadsheet just on Econowaves to be able to keep the info summarized and at hand for myself. There were some meta posts that linked to many of the designs, which was helpful. But not enough info like, "This is the higher sensitivity version at 94dB. This is the one intended for two channel fans without a sub. This is the upgraded compression driver version with a lower distortion woofer, taking the 'Econo' out of 'Econowave,'" etc. 

 

I'd read through pages of posts to not find the sensitivity of a design. It wasn't readily apparent there were awesome people I could pay to send me a crossover. 

 

Making it more quickly digestible for noobs would make the whole concept more accessible to more people, if that's a goal.

 

EDIT: I did like the screenshots of shopping lists at Parts Express. 

I wonder if Parts Express offers some sort of web widget where a "Shopping List" can be displayed on other websites, and clicking on the list or items will take one directly to Parts Express to make buying easier. Like, "Click to buy this list." Makes it easier for people to buy and find the parts, and gives an easy on-ramp for Parts Express sales?

I think Erich is expecting baffles and flatpacks from the CNC company this week. So we'll know soon enough it the TD12M's were included. If not, another option is to get a blank baffle and 2 cu ft box. Then you'd just need to make a few cuts etc.

Does the DNA360 have a metal screen or is it just a piece of material at the end of the throat? I don't really wanna mess with my drivers to find out
