Hey guys...we need a little rallying here... - Page 239

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll stick with 4kHz unless someone wants to suggest a compelling reason to do otherwise. Here's the thread Bill referred to. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/231538-new-study-loudspeaker-placement.html (Those guys sure do give Earl a hard time!)

Any thoughts on whether a vertical plot would be generalizeable with this must detail and specificity?

If looking at the vertical, you'd need to be speaker specific. It could be helpful, but probably more effort than it's worth. I think you'd be better off asking yourself what are your vertical constraints and how do you manage them. I advised a guy on diysoundgroup to flip his speaker upside down. He had them on top of fairly tall subwoofers. Really nothing wrong with doing that. In Java's thread, zheka mentioned laying a surround speaker horizontally, which can work in a very specific situation.

Any news from Poland yet?
I sent them the money for the pallet about 3 weeks ago. I thought it would be ready for shipping by now, but I'm still waiting for the green light to have it picked up.
^ I see you never got your answer over on DIY audio, Erich. I wonder if the 24's are done and if that's the holdup? Odd silence over there regarding the shipment.
As far as I know, they're done.
Ok. I thought jzagaja mentioned there were no production units yet of that particular WG and no samples withwhich to measure etc. When you made mention of that, there was really no answer. In any case, hope they are done and it ships soon. smile.gif Thanks for getting all this together! cool.gif

right, but theres no kit for it anymore

Erich might have pulled it, I don't think it was nearly as popular as the Daniel.

i know you guys are working on a couple new center designs. MTM. any updates on those?

so is that based on actual communication on their part? Have they communicated with you at all about status and what is going on? Or is it silence on their end?

I thought the BMS group buy items might be the last items to arrive... it's looking like the Poland pallet might be the last thing to arrive... not quite end of January as originally hoped frown.gif....

Multiple sets of stock and modded Zephyr crossovers are wired.. just waiting on boxes to be finished by cabinet guy to stuff them and fire them up... Wayne's 3 Pi speakers are looking like the next to be built based on how things are playing out with the 2013 AE Group buy... then BMS 4550/ AE TD6x designs with the big horn project with Poland fiberglass horns last....
MTMs don't work so well for a center. I've posted one in my WAF builds thread. I think Jeff is coming out with one. I'm working on a WTMW based on 10" woofers, but its just starting and will be a while.
A low profile center could be a game changer for some who don't have an AT screen. That's the one omission in the line up.

Would it though?

If things have to be sacrificed, you're better off with running a phantom center on a nice SEOS pair up front. I'm running phantom center with "bi-radial" JBL waveguides right now, and I don't even notice the missing center. (I also have Trinnov so that may not be a fair comparison).
If the center is properly designed and matched to the L&R, it may be a better option for some people. Depends on ones goals. A large seating area, or close range seating would probably benefit from one. Also the increased headroom having an extra speaker. There was a thread dedicated to that, I never read it so maybe there's more to it, I don't know.

The Daniel was the Aura NS6-based one, right? Given that supplies of those woofers have unfortunately dried up, the Malcolm might become a lot more popular.
The NS6 is gone? Huh. I wonder does Madison's have any? I wonder if solen.ca has any. In that case the Malcolm would likely be pretty popular, unless someone needed really high effeciency.

There was never a chance of getting the pallet here by the end of January once the SEOS-24 was mentioned. Had there been no SEOS-24, the pallet would have been shipped by now. But Autotech said the prototype and molds would be done by the end of January, not the pallet.

There were a lot of the Aurasounds left at Madisound and PE. I was keeping them in my cart to see when they got under a certain number so I could order a decent amount for the kits that used them. But I guess both stores sold out around the same time. Maybe a company bought all of them, I don't know.

It stinks because I had boxes cut for a design that Paul Carmody made up, and also some Stentorian baffles.....and the Big Mal baffles.

But all is not lost. There could be an even better woofer to replace it. The cut out for the Aurasound was only 6.16" because it really wasn't a 'true' 6" woofer. I looked hard to find a nice woofer that is suppose to fit in the same cut out and by luck one of the easiest woofers to design around happens to fit. Or at least the specs say it will. I'll know tomorrow if it will drop into the same recess.

Granted it's not $9, but still a very good woofer, and actually looks perfect for the job:

Erich, any further clarification on the SEOS-24? Realistically, what's the timeframe for this new pallet of stuff from Poland? are you looking several months out to have it filled and then the associated ship time, etc? going to go sea shipment this time to make the freight make sense? Just trying to get a feel if we're talking before the end of the year to have shipment on its way or if we're into January, February, June, etc.....

The pallet is getting close to full. Once it gets really close, I'll probably just order extra stuff to fill it up. This one will probably be shipped by air like the first pallets because it's taken a bit longer to fill. I'm guessing about 1.5 months before they are here in Cincinnati. Hopefully sooner, but we're at their mercy.

I assumed you wanted them for the 1.5" drivers? If not, let me know if you wanted it for the 1.4".

But whatever... $hit happens, timelines slip, and it's not your fault... you're at the mercy of the guys in Poland actually getting the stuff built and shipped.... which loops back to the question I actually asked that you skipped over to discuss timelines: have the Poland guys actually responded to any of your inquiries or is it silence on their end? Have they made any promises on dates or just keeping you in the dark?

Glad I picked up 44 of the NS6's when I did....

Those TB's look really good.

Again, I'm at their mercy as to when the pallet is filled with orders, when they get all the orders produced, and when they get the pallet loaded, and when it gets picked up and shipped. Then I'm at the mercy of the shipping company, and then customs could keep it 3 days, or 2 weeks. There's no way possible to give an exact date.

The pallet was nearly full towards the end of December. At that point I would've just ordered 30+ models of something to fill the pallet....it would have been done. But then there was a good number of orders put in for more SEOS-24's. Like 20. I assume they have one mold and can maybe make one per day. Probably a few days to polish everything and wrap it up. Then make a shipping container/pallet and get it loaded.

Nothing I say on this forum will make it come any faster. Yes, they respond to my questions. But I don't ask them when it will ship every few days because that's not going to help. As mentioned, I'll give updates when it ships. But there's really nothing else that can be done and everyone that orders knows that. It's never going to be fast enough in the instant gratification era. You can order directly from Autotech, but shipping a pair by themselves would cost about $400.

They sent me photos of the SEOS-24 a little after lunch today. I'm still at my shop packaging things up for people. If I have time to upload the photos, I will. They look like a SEOS-12.....only twice as big.biggrin.gif
