You may start an 'arms war' with the child. Perhaps he has also learned about streaming, where a video downloaded to the PC can be watched on the 360. Even a cheap laptop in his room can hold ANY video he downloaded or converted, then the 360 can attach to a server (TVersity, maybe) running on it.

Or a few MP4 videos stored on a USB stick and carefully hidden from Mom and Dad.

If I wanted to prevent all this, I'd threaten to move the 360 into a trash can, then DO it next time there's trouble. However, I was the kid who used to turn the TV antenna at night so Canadian TV stations with naked women and more came in clearer, so what do *I* know?...

hey, just trying to help out. rather than throw your hands up in the air and just open the flood gates, you try to control what you can control and teach within your means.

my friend refuses to let his kid watch TV and play video games. He knows that his kid will see TV and games at some point at other people's places but at least with his house he has control.

A lot of kids don't have smartphones. If i ever have a kid, I'm not going to spoil him with a smartphone. Phones are for contact and emergencies. A kid doesn't need a smartphone. If they want to play games, they can play them on a computer. If he wants to text, he can text with a regular phone. I'm sure not having instant access to a web browser is not going to ruin the kid's life. I survived my childhood without a smartphone. I'm sure he'll find a way to make do.

At least with a computer, you can have very tight controls in place. With firewalls, I can lock down access.

Yes, the determined will find a way. But just because the hardened criminal will steal your car no matter what system you have in place, that doesn't mean you just leave the keys and the engine running.

There's porn on Netflix? Cause if so, that $8/month is an even better deal than I thought it was . j/k, since Netflix doesn't have porn. Well, I suppose some people's definition of porn is different than mine. There's certainly movies with nudity and adult situations, which is what I'm guessing is being referred to.

I don't really have an answer to the question. I know there's parental controls, but I'm not sure how they interact with Netflix (or if they're just for XBOX content). Maybe look at this stuff:

EDIT: After some further reading, it looks like the parental controls do work with Netflix. I'd check if my XBOX was available, but my kid is playing with friends on it right now.

wait, what?

parental controls definitely work... problem is getting everything set so that the stuff that should work actually works, and the stuff that shouldn't work doesn't.

be nice if they had the controller passcode thing on a per app basis... like if everyone wanted to share a gamertag and you just wanted to protect your facebook for example.

This just sounds like a parent/child discussion that needs to discuss rules. Regardless how you discovered it, it is now known. Talk with him and if you can get him to talk to you and divulge who has the account and inform their parents of the situation. Discuss what is not allowed and then utilize the available tools. If that fails take the 360 out. If porn is still being accessed without the 360 then lock the settings down on the computer web browsers along with only you having the password to the account. The same thing can be done with the 360 with pass codes and child accounts created and setting put in place.
