How much crosstalk (ghosting) has your 3D TV? Test it! - Page 5

i thought the crosstalk is better than samsung plasma tv but it is not. i am guessing i am not buying this tv for 3d movies.

I don't know why this thread is not stickied but imo this is the best thread to analyze crosstalk on 3DTVs to determine if it can pass dark and light scenes because some TVs are better in light areas and others are better in darker scenes so by using the clips in this thread in conjunction with stereoscopic player can yield results that show it's 3d performance levels under high stress.

It should be a requirement before purchasing any tv for high 3d usage.

so guys. is that any good? contrast is at 75 and brightness 68

In bright scenes there is little to none crosstalk. In dark scenes i get so dizzy from all the crosstalk.So many ghosting shadows interfearing.I almost see everything double.

Your model performs better in that test than the passive LG 5500 (top right corner). I own a passive LG 5300 and scored a 1-20-20-1, so I would expect yours to do something like 1-23-23-1, but for some reason it's doing horrible.

Something has to be going wrong.

P.S. It's interesting to see a passive set winning by a mile (Toshiba 47VL863).

Left eye open/right closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 4

Right eye open/left closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> nothing
Right eye open/left closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 3

That 35 killed the other good numbers. I tried 4 other glasses they all give the same 35 number. Is it something I should worry about? I don't really see any crosstalk at all. The only time I really noticed it was in the movie Despicable Me at the beginning with the big red Despicable Me title against the black background but I hear that that scene is noted for that.

I dont know if this matters but all I did was hook up my laptop to the tv after downloading slides to laptop and turned on 3d side by side on the tv. I tried also 2d - 3d conversion , here are those numbers .
2-3-3-3 - this is using the 2d - 3d conversion on the tv.

Turning local dimming on low made a big difference for me. These are my new numbers.

Left eye open/right closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 1
Left eye open/right closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 16
Right eye open/left closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> nothing
Right eye open/left closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 1

I would have expected your results to be something like 1-16-16-1, not 1-16-nothing-1. I think something's not set right?

Also, are you aware that in #2 and #3 the bigger the number the better, and in #1 and #4 the lower the better? I dont understand what you mean by the 35 killing the other numbers. 35 is a really good score but I dont understand why you're not seeing anything for #3. You do have your TV in side by aide mode right?

I guess I'm confused on the way to read the numbers. I thought the whole idea was to get as close as possible to the best crosstalk number listed in the OP's first post. I'm in side by side mode.

After testing again with a new pair of wrap around 3D glasses I got here are the new numbers.

Left eye open/right closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 1
Left eye open/right closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 27
Right eye open/left closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 27
Right eye open/left closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 1

Hmm, apparently you were using the wrong glasses but I have no idea what kind would give you those initial results. Maybe you were using circular polarized IMAX glasses? LG's TVs use linear polarization, as does RealD.

lower is better, "1" is best
higher is better, "nothing" is best
higher is better, "nothing" is best
lower is better, "1" is best

Thanks for all your help. The ones that gave me the 35 reading are the ones that say LG Cinema 3D on the side of them. The ones that me the 1,27,27,1 are these I got off Ebay

Oh, I assumed you were using non-LG glasses. Do you still get the inconsistent results where you see 35 in one eye and nothing in the other with the LG glasses? Or were you just reading it wrong?

not sure what this means, but when i watch 3d material it looks very good. this is using read3d glasses that i got from the theater. i havent opened the glasses that came with the tv.

The LG glasses should be the same. They are on my 5300 at least. But the LG's have a nicer nose piece.

as far as the scores goes, is this a decent result for my tv?

for those with the panasonic 3d sets like the gt25. do you use the james cameron custom settings for the 3d? they work very well. I got a crosstalk once in a videogame a while back, but never in a movie.
I have tried the differnet glasses for panasonic. the 3rd generations are the best.

i want to see if there is any crosstalk on my projector ( HD33). i have the files. shall i use powerdvd, WMP w/ SBS on the projector to see if there is any xtalk.

HI Guys , Im new on the forum , well Om new with the 3D tech .

I got this great TV UN60D7000
Everything is perfect BUT the 3D which in my opinion is really bad , the ghosting in dark image , also some time in every image is very annoying .
I contact Samsung and they ask me if I want a tech check my TV ,
Im not sure if that will solve it , should I returning to store for exchange ? If so will I get the same problem again with this model .
By the reviews I dont see most people complaining about it .
Any advise how adjust it ?
I try different settings but nothing seems to work .
I will try a 3D br tomorrow
BTW 3D source is Direct TV , HDMI High speed connected

This is tested with the .mpo file.
It actually fluctuates slightly depending on the glasses, both the real d ones from the movies (6 pairs tested) and the LG ones (10 pairs tested). These numbers are the best I can get, with 3 pairs of my LG ones yielding the same results.
I get noticeable crosstalk in everything I've tried on this unit; several top/bottom movies on comcast, Sonic Generations/Halo Anniversary on Xbox, and Uncharted 3/Shadow of the Colossus on PS3, all over hdmi.

I feel like these results are below average for a passive unit, as it feels like in practice about 15% of the opposite image is going to each eye on anything high contrast (the majority of Shadow of the Colossus for example).

- CASIO XJ-A235V pair, (LED/laser)
- Optoma 3D-XL pair
- 3D Stereoscopic Projection Screen Material from eBuy (user id: strayvr ), excellent and cheap, rollable
- RealD glasses, circular polarization

Left eye open/right closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 1
Left eye open/right closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 19
Right eye open/left closed -> top half screen smaller visible number -> 19
Right eye open/left closed -> bottom half screen smaller visible number -> 1

Tested in total darkness, great 3D results.
I will cross-check this screen material with samples I have, where Spectral 240 3D is mediocre, while STEREOVIEW 3D 2.2 from MDI is holy-grail

Looks like it is still DLP, with zero crosstalk.
