Yes, Amazon ships to Brazil -- but as I said, shipping and taxes would make it as expensive as buying from the Brazilian distributor.

Does Amazon not ship to you?

I see taxes are your biggest problem. Wow, they must be high if a $600 shipped player can increase to $1700.

I would still suggest you find a spare HDD and convert a few test ISOs to files/folders and just try the BDMV and AVCHD\\BDMV playback methods: you may find it works okay. The cost of another two 2TB HDD to hold folder versions of your ISOs might be equivalent to the cost of getting your Oppo downgraded and as long as you save the BDMV and Certificate are sort of backups to your ISOs: it's worthwhile having backups anyway as HDD do fail.

I think it is a hardware issue that firmware will not fix: IIRC, 3TB is beyond the usual addressing space and requires special controllers.

Ordering from either Amazon or Oppo would be pretty much the same (I have checked) and the amount, with taxes and whatnot, will be some $50 less than buying from the distributor (not to mention the player'd take one week to get to me and I'd have to go and get it from Customs). Much ado for paying $50 less. I tried calling Oppo but they work Monday-Fridays only, not Saturdays. I wrote them anyway, but I guess there's only so much they can do for me down here.
The file conversion seems a bit complicated to me... but I'll see if I can do it.
Thanks again! --

Have just looked at Oppodigital's site and they will ship direct to Brazil for $108 too.

Local distributors can involve high markups, which is why I imported an Oppo 93 from Amazon to Australia.

Why don't you speak directly with Oppodigital about your options? If you explain the situation and point out the costs involved, perhaps they will find another option to accommodate you.

Don't be surprised if you get a response today (Saturday). I e-mailed them with a question on Christmas and was shocked to find a response ....... ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!! I sometimes wonder if they even sleep

With the internet they can answer from anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if some work or respond from home..

You don't need to give us moment by moment updates. Write up a summary of how it works out and post it here next week.

Just some feedback for those who updated to the last firmware and want to go the AVCHD route:

-They don't play smoothly ,like the ISO. Some breakups /stuttering are likely to happen.
-Doing a disk defragmentation helps a lot. After the defrag, almost all my AVCHD folders played flawlessly.
-It helps if you just rip the main movie. You can still play chapters and use trickplay without menus.
-You can stream from a server, if your network is fast enough, but chances are the stuttering will be higher.
-I have no experience with 3D.

Why don't you try to buy the Micca EP600 G2 , or the HiMedia 900B, or the Micca ep950. The Micca Players can be bought on Amazon for less than $150. All three players can play 3D .iso although they are not as good as the OPPO 93.

Agreed, there are a number of excellent options for playback of ISO, 3D or otherwise, that cost considerably less than a new Oppo. Not that I would want to discourage anyone from buying more Oppos but it's not necessary. Also true that most of the Realtek-based media boxes have issues with stability, as do some Sigma-based units. Nothing is perfect and nothing meets all needs, not even an Oppo. There's no such thing as a one-box solution to all streaming, media and shiny disc needs.

There are currently NO other satisfactory players for 3D ISO files. Just read the Himedia 900b thread here and you'll see. For 3D ISO, the Oppo with older firmware is currently it.

Maybe I'll do that if Oppo tells me there's nothing they can do for me down here. Thanks for the tip.

My Acer RL100 plays 3d .iSO files fine - and blu ray discs too.

Works for me 100% plus ISO can be played through my Dune HD1!

The Xtreamer is with the latest firmware as is the Dune

No, this is a software-only issue; the system just needs to be able to understand GPT partition tables vs. old-style MBR partition tables (which have the 2TB partition upper size limit).

You can even use 3TB and larger hard drives with Windows XP if you buy a third-party driver (Google "Paragon GPT loader").

Linux understands GPT partitions since kernel version 2.5.8 according to Wikipedia. I haven't researched what Linux version Oppo BDP-93/BDP-95 uses; the current 2TB partition size limitation might also be a limit imposed by the NTFS driver Oppo uses instead of a possibly older than 2.5.8 Linux kernel limitation.

Ummmmm, NO. There are NOT a number of "excellent options for playback of ISO, 3D or otherwise". There is the Dune which is good for everything ISO that is not 3D, but there are ZERO good reliable options for playback of 3D ISO files other than the oppo. I guarantee you I have had more streamers/media players in the last six months than just about ANYONE outside of a professional reviewer and there are ZERO reliable 3D BD ISO players out there, EXCEPT for the Oppo which has played every 3D ISO file I have thrown at it without a hitch.
Totally agree about the part where there is no "one box solution" for everything (and everyone) though!

whoops, looks like djbluemax1 beat me to the punch. Guess I should have finished reading the thread instead of posting!

Is there a procedure for opening the disc tray manually? I could not find one in the manual. I just dropped in Hugo from Netflix and the display shows TT and the play arrow with 000000's across the screen and the player won't do anything. I've turned it off and back on several times and I can't get it to respond. Any help is appreciated.
Thread Starter
EDIT: This only relates to if the tray does not eject at all, rather than not ejecting because a disc is trying to be played:

Turn the player upside down. Towards the front you will see a slat with an arrow etched into it going left to right.

Put a flat object into this slat and then slide it left to right. You will feel some resistance as the tray is manually released.

If you feel only resistance, then you are too deep. Lift up a little bit on your flat object.

If you feel no resistance, then you need to put the flat object in deeper.

When powered off the player will power on and eject the tray if you use the EJECT button on the remote. Does that not work?

Make sure you are using current firmware for HUGO. Erase Persistent Storage and reboot the player. Let us know if none of that helps.
