There are lots of things that make up subjective picture quality beyond Contrast. But I get skeptical when reports of improved picture quality tout things like improved Contrast or inkier Blacks.
There are darn few bugs in the 83 (on which the Ayre is based) affecting the digital data that goes out on its HDMI cable for any chosen content. Show me how changes you've made can fix such bugs and then you've got something. Improving a digital circuit in a way that results in the same digital output gains you nothing.
