You might have to explain that one to me. Is it like "all fur coat and no knickers"?

Or "all tinsel and no balls"?

I'm not a Texan, but it goes something like another label from long ago - "drug store cowboy". A big expensive cowboy hat, fancy custom cowboy boots, a giant silver cowboy belt buckle, a $5,000 power cable, and maybe a vintage Cadillac convertible with a pair of long horn steer horns for the hood ornament, but no cattle.

I am still confused, what's a Cadillac? And a long horn steer horn? I watched the original Dukes of Hazard if that helps...

No problem as the fan goes between my anthem D2v prepro and the Oppo95. The Oppo is on top separated by a 1U space from the Anthem for now.

I trust you don't mean 1 micron - which is what µ stands for in scientific notation - which is equal to 1/1,000 of a millimeter: far thinner than a human hair!

Perfect. smile.gif

Now all we need is a picture of a $5,000 power cord.

I'm sure he meant 1RU.

Believe me you wouldnt want to deal with dumb people who buy garbage like this. Besides, its not like youd sell that many anyway. Most of those high end cables are built to order with long wait periods as even the "manufacturers" know they are a waste to pre-build and keep in stock.

Has anyone here ordered/used the IR repeater offered on Oppo's site?

It's not a repeater actually. It's an external sensor that plugs in the back of the player and disables the front panel sensor. Allows you to place it wherever its needed.

Does it improve the IR performance others have complained about.

That would be "Boss Hog" Dukes of Hazard! wink.gif oops, just saw the image above.

If you want an IR repeater, just get the cheap monoprice one, it works fine. I guess Im lucky, I sit right in front of my Oppo (and all other components) about 12 feet away and my Harmony One controls them all without any repeater, etc. without any issues.

Thank you for being more explicit.

It's not tinnitus that's affecting my ability to enjoy a good sound system, It's extreme old age and the gradual loss of what ever frequency range I started with. Just look at my picture. eek.gif

Luckily I do still enjoy good music. biggrin.gif

"All cape and no lightsaber?"

I bounce my remotes off the screenwall ten feet in front of me at the equipment three feet behind me (below the projector) and they all work fine.

That will depend on your own unique circumstances. I've never had any issues or complaints about remote performance.

i have a harmony 900 sending RF commands to my IR base station in a closet. both the base and oppo face a wall and I have absolutely no lag or issues - I'm inclined to think the oppo does not suffer from any IR issues.

Every year or so one or another of my devices gets cranky until I replace the batteries in its remote control.

Should we call the FTC about this?
Just a side note here......but I was very impressed at how quick the wireless USB stick worked for downloading the latest FW. I clocked it at 1min 5sec. I used to use the disk method and it certainly took quite a bit longer.

Well worth it !!!

I do that with my Harmony 1100 and the RF extender. It works great and battery life controlling all devices via the RF Extender actually improves!

Listening to music is a "Psycho-Acoustic" experience. The tympanic membrane is excited by sound waves. The inner ear turns these physical impulses into electrical impulses. The brain then decodes these electrical impulses into something we sense as sound. The better the brain feels about the chain of equipment producing the sound waves the better the perceived quality of the sound. Double blind testing is not desirable and can, in fact, destroy the "Psycho" portion of the experience.

It may take me quite a while to get my tongue out of my cheek!
