The manual for the HW30 says.
This would require running a Cat cable to the front of the theater. Also Sony specs Cat-7.
How do you have your transmitter mounted? Also if the projector is celling mounted and you mount on it how do you do this?
The vw90 has the emitter built into the front of the projector so an external emitter is not needed unless there is additional IR signal strength needed. I bought TMR-BR100 just incase I needed it but never did, but maybe I will in the new theater. My emitter came with a Cat5e cable, so that should be enough if you want to run the adapter to the front of the theater and face it toward the audience. I thought placing it in front of the projector and aiming it at the screen would be fine for most applications. I am not sure if there is a difference between the TMR-BR100 emitter and the TMR-PJ1 emitter. I will ask.
In my new HT set up, the vw90 will be ceiling mounted, and if needed I would place the emitter above and in front of the projector aimed at the screen. However, I am glad this came up, since I still have time to run a cat5e cable behind the screen just in case the emitter needs to be put up front and aimed back toward the audience.
BTW... Is there a Cat7 cable? I thought it only went up to Cat6. I'm running Cat5e in my new HT since it's fast enough for HDbaseT if that ever hits the market.
