I can't really think of anything else that was lame. I've seen some of the demo disks, and certain things on some of the demo's were lame, but for the most part, every movie that I've seen has blown me away with the crispness and clarity of the 3D Blu Ray image.

Here are some of my favorites so far:

Bolt
Open Season
Ice Age 3
Alice in Wonderland
Grand Canyon (didn't like the narration or story though)
Avatar demo clip
Monsters vs. Aliens
Monster House
Coraline

I have not yet seen Polar Express, Christmas Carol or Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs.

I have seen How to Train Your Dragon, and actually I didn't think that it was the best example of 3D. Most of the movie has outstanding 3D, but there are alot of scenes in the dark that aren't as flattering imo.

what kind of tv are u using?

A Christmas Carol and Open Season get honorable mentions; the closeups in Open Season in particular look like they're coming right out of the screen.

Wild Ocean is probably the most disappointing 3D release I've seen so far (discounting 2D>3D conversions such as Clash of the Titans or Last Airbender) as the underwater photography is murky and colorless and doesn't possess much depth at all to it.

which scenes specifically in open season pop out ?

From the opening scene on there are quite a view impressive 3D scenes. The hairs on the bear, the deer on the grill of the car on close-up, the baddy playing guitar on his riffle, the dark scenes inside the cabin. The list goes on....

You all need to check out Sammy's Adventures The Secret Passage, I just got my Dolby3d Dual projector system up and running and this movie clearly has the best 3D effects I have seen so far.

A Christmas Carol was the first 3D blu-ray I watched (outside of demos) and I didn't really care for the 3D that much. It was okay, but not great. I guess it didn't help that the movie kind of sucked.

The only others I've watched are How to Train Your Dragon (best so far IMO) and Megamind (not bad, and definitely better than A Christmas Carol).

I've had Tangled and Tron since they came out but haven't watched them. Will be getting Thor, Harry Potter, Green Lantern, Captain America, and Transformers, but out of those, Transformers, and parts of Thor and Green Lantern are the only ones I care about the 3D. I'm not going to buy a movie because it's 3D, but if I'm gonna buy a movie and it's available in 3D, I'll get the 3D.

Get a few IMAX movies.

Neo307,

Where did you get your copy of Sammy's Adventure?
Also, is it region locked?
Thanks.

Instead of getting Green Hornet, just take your money, mail it to me, and then punch yourself in the ear. At least that will make one of us happy instead of us both feeling screwed by GH. Awful movie and the 3d was totally worthless and tacked on. And this from a guy who loves comic books and mindless action.

Also, Tangled was great, and the 3d version really enhanced the overall movie experience.

Don't think he plans on getting green hornet... That was funny though haha

Mind you I only saw Avatar in IMAX 3D and yes it was amazing. But I am patiently awaiting when it is finally released on Bluray 3D to watch it at home. However I have seen it on panny's demo at best buy and it does look amazing.

From what I have seen, I have to second under the sea. The fish you are referring to is the Patato Cod. They can get up to 10 feet long. They are huge fish. It is the single best 3D effect you will ever see. It helps that it is very still. It is super clear and reaching out as far as you can possible make it without even a hint of ghosting or double images.

I don't think the French Blu-Ray 3D has any English option, does it?

There is an Australian release coming soon - so I'm planning on picking that one up.

Im not sure if youve all seen it, but there is one specific scene with a rather large fish staring right at you, and i kid you not, the fish is half way into my living room the head is huge!!
by the way im using Viera vt25 54"
The sea has fantastic colors and depth. Im sure Avatar will beat this, but 3 more days.

My top 3:

1. Avatar
2. Tangled
3. A Christmas Carol

Honorable mention (IE - 4th place): Resident Evil.

The only disappointing 3D blu I own is Alice in Wonderland. But part of that could just be because I hate the actual movie and want to kick myself for paying $30 for the stupid thing.
I thought Legend of the Guardians was impressive

The beauty of buying a bad 3d movie is that you can sell it on ebay for not much of a loss. Can anyone say Sanctum?

My favorite 3d movies have been Despicable Me, Megamind, and Coraline. Coraline has been the biggest surprise.

+1. I've seen every single 3D BD available, this is the first one I grab when someone comes over to see 3D for the first time.

I use 2 3D projectors, either the JVCRS50 or the new Sony HW30. Either is impressive on a 142" 16:9 screen.

this is definitely worth importing since it's not avail in the US yet.
