Other Info:

The system will be used mostly for tv, BluRay movies, and PS3.

I'm trying to stay under $300.

And if you can't tell by now, I'm pretty new with home theater setups.

Thanks for any help.

I've found three options to consider but, being new to this, I'm not sure if they are appropriate for the speakers. Please tell me if I'm off base with these options, and/or which looks best.

YAMAHA HTR-5063

ONKYO HT-RC260

harman/kardon AVR 1600

Thanks.

I too bought the MLT-2 speakers recently and am searching for a compatible AVR. I'm considering Pioneer VSX-1020-K. I was worried that the AVR puts out 110 watts per channel and my speakers specs say they only accept upto 100 watts. Can any one please let me know if it is okay to use an AVR that puts out 110 watts per channel with a speaker that is good for only 100 watts?

Thanks!

@MJMOnline: The 1020's specs are seriously overblown. My 1020 drives 5 speakers and registers a mere 35-40 watts at what I consider ear splitting volumes (only lots of distortion after that point). Don't worry about your speaker power handling unless you are considering using a serious power amp (moot because the 1020 has no pre-outs for a power amp). Most avrs don't come close to reaching the high end of the power handling specs on pretty much every speaker.

ah yes, the amazon deal.

The pioneer VSX 820 is not a bad option, it has enough power and just enough channels. it has multi-channel room correction as well so that's a big plus over some of the lower end AVRs which only have a 2 channel(ONKYO HT-RC260).

Could not find any reviews on the MLT-2s at all online when i saw the amazon deal. Let us know how they sound once you get it all set up.

I should have mine set up Tuesday. I went ahead and paired mine with the Onkyo Ht-rc260. I also could not find any reviews for these speakers. I kinda bought them on impulse. I was going to get Newegg's deal on the Energy 5.1 speakers that came with free wireless but in comparing the specs the MartinLogans came out slightly ahead and they were both the same price (of course I could easily be mistaken on the spec comparison). I'll be sure to post my very amateur impressions/opinion when I'm set up.

That Onkyo does use a multi-channel room EQ system. Audyssey 2-eq to be exact. The only thing it doesn't eq is the sub. And of the 3 the OP has on his list IMO the H/K would be the better AVR.

I just picked up the MLT-2 to match up with my new Onkyo TX-SR608. Just stepped up from an Onkyo HT-R340 with matching speakers. Limited to optical before, but now running all HDMI with PS3 and a Panasonic TC-P50G10.

Very pleased so far, especially after running the Audyssey setup.

We watched Zombieland and Devil last night, sounded even better than anticipated.

I am planning to get MLT-1 or MLT-2 speaker package soon and wondering if any of the users can post whichi AVR worked well with them?

I am planning to get either the

Yamaha V671 or V867 for them.

I used my MLT2s with a Denon 1611 and they worked perfect. Very pleased. I'm sure any decent receiver will work for you.

Do you know what settings did you put with denon 1611? I got denon avr 1713. Sometimes I hear a hum in the sub.. also not happy with bass sound. I think, I have to tune it before concluding it is not a good system.

Would be helpful if you throw the numbers you have on front, rear and sub.

Thanks

His 1611 uses Audyssey MultEQ while yours uses the higher version of MultEQ XT. Ensure you change the FL/FR speakers to SMALL/80Hz if set with a lower crossover. Also, feel free to adjust the "Subwoofer Level" setting using the remote if you want more bass.

Also note that "lack of bass" is just one of over 50 questions covered in the Audyssey 101/FAQ Guide linked to in my sig.
