XBMC Media Center : Setup Guide, Knowlege Base & Support - Page 63

Yeah, there are a lot of options. You basically just have to go through each one with a check list and view the results to see if what it's doing is to your liking. Once you get it set up though it is pretty damn lovely. Aeon MQ3 shows the logo downloader plugin as broken so I can't select the logo or show artwork views which are the best looking in my opinion. Can the artwork downloader plugin do the same thing or do I need to wait until logo downloader gets fixed?

hey quick question: how do i minimize or maximize XBMC?
ok. just got a big issue.

i tried to play a 1080p MKV file and as soon as I hit play. my projector and AVR went to no signal.

the movie play find if i was watching on my 21" monitor, but if i tried to play it on my projector i got no signal.

must be something wrong with video output setting.

fixed this. had to go into my ATI's display setting and changed the refresh rate from 60hz to 24hz and it works fine.

i have several collections of music videos (MP4, AVIs, etc)

how do i set this up?

i like to set it up as different playlist (e.g Rock, Pop, International, etc.)

and when i play them, i like the options to be able to repeat and shuffle.

should i add them under MUSIC or VIDEO? and how?

thanks

you can have playlists for music or videos. Music Videos go under videos

I hit the windows button if I want to just get out of xbmc.
yup. i can hit alt+tab or windows key to get out of XBMC.

but i want to minimize it and move it to my secondary display, which is the projector.

you guys running hdtv/projector, do you have to set refresh rate on the display setting to 24hz? it's strange that i have to do this with XBMC.

There is a setting in XBMC that you can use to tell it to start up and run in whichever display you want.

do you know where i should look?
It is in the video settings somewhere, you just need to look around. My wife has four multi-monitor computers at her office and I set each of them up to simply launch/run XBMC in the second monitor which is exactly what they needed. It took less than a few minutes to find the setting and make the change.

cool. i'll look around. that is a excellent feature to have.

turn my pc on and have XBMC launch in secondary monitor. excellent.

It is possible it's set during playback in the OSD. I'm not at a PC at the moment so I can't check. I just know it can be done.
i was playing with the OSD last night and didn't see any options that might handle this. but again, i've spent maybe 2hrs max on XBMC so far so what do i know. lol

was reading over at the XBMC forum and there's an option where you go in and edit the Advancedsettings_monitor.xml file, which i don't want to mess with.

Google images or use one of the backdrops from one of your movies of that genre.

System->System->Video Settings-> Video output settings

You can choose screen 1 or screen 2 as well as resolution, etc, here.

No.

Just use the startup folder in windows like you would any other piece of software that you want to run at startup.

Alternatively you can try one of these: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_m...in_Full_Screen

Finally, you can just double click a desktop icon which is what I do and I usually just leave it open. My HTPC draws 30 watts so it is never turned off.

I managed to find my ways around a bit. It's just that under the settings you have to use arrows instead of mouse and click.

Yes. XBMC works much better with the keyboard, takes a minute to get used to. A remote can be much easier, especially if you're on a projector.

Possibly. Go to settings, skin, and then shortcut/backdrops. You can enable/disable your home buttons there.
Sorry there is no system button that I can find. "System info" can be bound by hitting down while settings is highlighted.

I went there too. It only display my system's info. Doesn't allow any editing.
