I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I want to use power dvd 11 to play m2ts, DVD, Bluray, and ISO files. I'm linking my player core files below. When I try to launch a m2ts or iso file xbmc freezes for about 10 secs and nothing happens.


btw H: is virtual from vcd and G: is bluray drive.

If I change powerdvd11.exe to the pdvdlaunchpolicy.exe it will then work for the mounting and playing of .iso but for the .mt2s it will launch powerdvd and go to a black screen and do nothing.

If someone could take a look and tell me what I'm missing I would appreciate it.

Not sure what happened but went to play LOTR yesterday (which played fine before) and now it plays really choppy. Also, my Onkyo receiver keeps flipping DTS on then off (similar to when you first start a movie and it recognizes the audio format). Some of my other HD movies do it to but not all. Updated GPU drivers and reinstalled Eden, still having the same issues.

Strangely enough switching audio to stereo within XBMC and the movie will play fine. I sure hope my receiver isn't going out, it's not even a year old.

Changed HDMI setting in XBMC to Wasapi and everything is fine now.

Out of curiosity, i had to reinstall my os on my desktop, and it reminds me how much of a pain it is, thinking about building an htpc, is it a pain having to reinstall the os? I assume nobody is running vista or xp on there builds anymore.

Also should i go with windows 8 to future proof, i much prefer how easily i can navigate windows 7, but i dont want to have to install a new version of windows in a year.

I reinstall my OS about every 6 mths so it doesn't bother me any. Windows 8 is still in beta so if you're doing an install soon windows 7 is what you'll use.

Figured it out! The args caused the problem. Setting to only {0} and it all works.

If anyone is having recurring video loss (black screen) and possibly audio loss, both lasting less than a second, during playback within XBMC, I found a reference on the XBMC forums that indicates the cause may be the latest Nvidia drivers and DXVA2. Disabling DXVA2 acceleration solved the problem for that person.

How do you guys do wake on lan? Currently I have it working, but I have to click a cmd script on my desktop. Is there a way to integrate this command into xbmc? thanks

anyone know how to config the android Official XBMC Remote theres no direction in the OP, i installed it and i dont know how to add a host is it not working because my phone doesnt have IR? im have a droid razr maxx if that helps

How can I get XBMC to stop checking disks in my blu ray drive? I just installed it today and it takes control of the disk trying to find out what it is forever and it's normally bluray movies which are encrypted. Any way to stop that? Autoplay is off.

No IR needed.
Make sure your phone is connected to the samen network as your xbmc machine.
Then write down the ip of your xbmc machine and ad that as host.
Make sure that your router firewall isn't blocking something.

Im just curious if you need to use an external player to play physical discs, does the greeneyez guide setup work so only physical discs are played with an external player?


For instance i have a ton of bluray rips that are bdmv folders, xbmc can play the main movies fine, but can it differentiate between using an external player to launch physical discs, and not my actual bdmv folders?

If you have a jail broken iPhone check out Notify Pro it will pause what your watching on XBMC when your phone rings, displays the caller id onscreen, and resumes when you hang up. You can do this for just about any notification too.

Not totally there yet - they hope to merger the new AE engine to nightly builds in May, though at post #247 here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=124600&page=25 there is a test build which I am happily using and with one or two small issues is working well.

GreenEyez, I know a while ago you said you were going to evaluate Ember Media Manager. Any thoughts on using this as opposed to MCM?

Anyone that has used both, and chosen one over the other? In particular anyone gone to using Ember only? It's my understanding that you can't scrape tv shows with ember, is this true? What functionality is available in one that isn't in the other?

I tried both and rejected both. I don't recall why I rejected Ember, but MCM gave me problems. At the time, it didn't work well with TV episodes. Plus, it's major draw was automatic renaming, but when it pulled bad metadata, it gleefully renamed everything to the wrong movie name. In the end, I found it much, much simpler just to use the scrapers built into XBMC after manually naming my folders and files to match the contents of themoviedb.org and thetvdb.com.

Ember works great with TV shows (provided you have the right file name syntax)

I've never used MCM so I can't compare but I am a big fan of Ember. Installed it a couple years ago and have never looked back. Ember was designed specifically for XBMC so compatibility would never be an issue. I like to pick my covers and backgrounds so automation is not important to me. I also like how easy it is to customize the metadata if for some reason it doesn't scrape right.

The sets feature of Ember is also what really sold me. The Eden native sets feature is not quite what I'm looking for a the playlists workaround isn't very elegant.

Im partial to Media Companion.
It can be found on the XBMC forums.

Btw, the built in xbmc scraper works fine but I like having more control over what fanart and posters get used.
With media companion its a cinch to change the posters or fanart if I dont like the first one it grabs. It lets you choose from many others and only takes a few seconds.
It also works with TVShows.
