Thanks brickie

If using windows you can use a .bat file to make all files with a particular ending ie.mkv in a folder be put into a folder with the same title as the .mkv. I'm not any good at writing stuff like that but I'm sure you could find something online. That way you could just drag the folder with all your movies over the .bat file and be done with it.

Thank you!! This is why I love this forum. Actually that was going to be my next question since I started this process already. Was hoping to keep ripping and then just have a program put all of them into their own respective folder.

Should work, I don't have time to look for the .bat file because of finals this week but I'm sure something's out there. Also, check AutoDVDRip for XBMC. It's an addon that will allow you to rip your DVD/BluRays straight from the XBMC menu and automatically names it and puts in the folder of your choosing (you set this up in the beginning ). It will only do one folder per instance, so to do something like rip BluRays to your movies folder and be able to rip to tvshows to their folder you would just set up two instances of AutoDVDRip. This may sound confusing but once you read the how to for it everything will be more clear.

Joe, thanks..Will look for that bat file later. And good luck with finals! My kid is taking hers as well.

Thanks, and no problem. Hope everything gets setup ok. Whatever you do don't get frustrated, whatever problem you encounter someone else has already been there and the answer is waiting here or in the XBMC forums. Trust me, I've found all the solutions to my problems on both sites.

In what software? Windows shouldn't matter. XBMC will ignore the folder structure in presenting your library, unless you choose to browse files instead of movies or TV. Don't have a clue about the WD Live, unfortunately.

Great write up! Certainly gets me a decent looking HTPC setup I can now customize further on my own.

That being said, I can not get the menus below. I followed the instructions 'to a tee', minus I didnt download the logo add on as it appears to be broken. I enabled these menus under settings, but they are no where to be found when I go into Video, TV Shows, or Music from the main menu screen. I can't go into these menus and "click right" at all, except to get to the scroll bar.

Any ideas?

**Sorry, I guess I cannot post URL's yet, so I cant quote it. It is the second half of the 6th post in the thread. Here is the text, minus the urls:

Logo downloaded has been replaced by artwork downloader. Some skins require you to enable view types in skin settings before you can access them, what skin are you using?

For now, I am trying to set up Aeon MQ3 as the OP suggests.

I downloaded a bunch more add-ons... that didnt change anything. Then I started enabling random stuff, and I got 'Music' to work, but I have not been successful with TV Shows or Movies yet. I wish I knew which specific settings to use. I selected all the ones the OP uses but those that wasnt enough.

A few more things:

- I had to left arrow to get the menus, not right arrow as the OP says (for anyone else running into this issue).

- For music at least, I am not getting pictures of artists nor am I getting much album art. I downloaded Media Center Master and all the Add-ons, as OP suggests, but still nothing. Am I supposed to enable fan art or is there a specific add on to download which gives pictures of each artist? Even some of my albums that have album art already in the folder do not show the art when playing the album. Any idea as to why?

-Is there a point to having Media Center Master? From what I could tell, it didnt do anything.

What is the structure and name of your folders and files? I sometimes run into an issue with putting years after the shows name for a folder structure. Just keep it simple and use Show > Season > sXXeXX.XXX

Doesn't this depend on which library view you are using? The list mode would be left arrow, something else like Cinema would be up arrow.

When I downloaded some albums, it took like an hour for the fan art to be pulled down. I am not home to check, but I don't recall having to do anything special with the folder or file structure. Has it shown up yet?

Any of you know where the config files are contained so that I can copy them over to another XBMC, so I won't have to reconfigure all the settings?

Does XBMC not support forced subtitles in Bluray ISOs? I have a couple movies like Avatar and the Lord of the Rings films that I have in the ISO format. I tried to play Avatar last night and it would only play the English subs through the whole movie if I had the subtitles turned on but wouldn't play the Navi parts. If I turned subs off, it wouldn't play any subs at all even though the forced flag is on the subtitle track.

I made an MKV and tried that and it plays the forced subs but leaves the last sub on the screen for a while after the Navi finish speaking. This is a little annoying but at least the subs show up. I only have a few movies with forced subs in the ISO format so I'll probably just make MKVs but it would be nice to not have to go through all that. I could use my Dune D1 to play these movies but I kinda like having a one box solution. Any information on when or if XBMC will be able to support this?

Good suggestion. The only time I would put the year after a series name is if it is listed that way on thetvdb.com (e.g., "Hawaii Five-0" vs. "Hawaii Five-0 (2010)" and "Doctor Who" vs. "Doctor Who (2005)").

However, I would always put the year after a movie name. Fundamentally, he just wants the folder names to exactly match whatever is on thetvdb.com or themoviedb.org, as appropriate.

This is a good habit for people to get into. There are a number of movies that are either reboots or have nothing to do with eachother. I made the mistake of naming the cartoon "Sleeping Beauty" without the year...It pulled fan art from an erotic drama that came out a few years ago. My daughter was flipping through the children library and needless to say I had to answer some questioning from a 5 year old LOL...

Not sure about ISOs, but when ripped to the folder format my version of Avatar plays Navi subs just fine. Not sure why that would be different.

Also, in the guide it states that BluRay disc is not supported but rips are. For anyone interested XBMC will play BluRay discs using AnyDVDHD and makemkv. Just install those and select play disc from menu.
Interesting. I will rip Avatar as a folder tonight and see if that works. If it does, I will just convert all of my ISO rips that have foreign language audio and forced subtitles to Bluray folder format and go from there. Thanks.

Also, I just played Fellowship of the Ring from the BluRay disc and subs worked there too.
Is your rip the full disc or just the main movie. That might be the issue, the Avatar rip is just the main movie. The LOTR rings and other movies like Captain America are full disc ISO rips so I will check them out tonight.
Yes it's full disc.
Gotcha, that might be the issue. I'll re-rip as a full disc and try again tonight.
Hunter I will check that out later and bump the thread, thanks. I didnt think the software was extremely concerned with how the file was named.
Well the full ISO rip didn't work. I turned off the subs and nothing shows up. When I turn it on the Navi subs show up but the normal English subs do as well and they seem mistimed as they only show for a second. I wonder if the program I'm using is the issue. I'll try a different program and try a folder rip this time to see what happens. I tried Xmen First Class and the same thing happened. This is with the HD audio patched version of XBMC so I wonder if they broke something.
What are you using to rip the disc? Any possibility of odd settings there messing things up?
I'm using AnyDVD HD. I'm going to try another program and see if that fixes it.
I've never had AnyDVD HD cause problems, but out of paranoia, make sure that the only setting enabled under Video Blu-ray is Enable Blu-ray support.

If I use the built in XBMC scraper I would have to make the artwork change at each box...with MC, I make all my changes once from my pc.

You don't have to "update each box." I have six instances of XBMC running and keep them all synced by using a common MySQL database and sharing the Userdata\\Thumbnails directory. All systems instantly reflect changes made from any of them (unless you restrict them).

(FWIW, I use MC and/or EMM. Didn't like MCM at all.)

Yup, that's how I have it set up. I even tried a rip with made with DVDfab the same thing happens. I think there might be something screwy with the version of XBMC I'm using or something as the Navi subs also show up as blue instead of yellow. I just went ahead and set up PowerDVD 11 as an external player and get the full bluray experience with menus and everything including working forced subs for the few ISOs I have.

Hey GreenEyez, looks like the file is no longer there?

Any of you having audio sync issues with HD audio (the patch) and 24p movies? I am definitely seeing a slight lag. Searching seems to point this to when movies play in 24p on Windows.
