Last time I checked XBMCFlicks just launches a browser window with the correct movie playing. If you have something to map remote commands to keyboard commands, you can hack together something that allows you to do some basic control, but that's about it. And I haven't tried it with the new Netflix interface, so even that may or may not work anymore.
Does XBMCFlicks remember what episode of a series you are on? If it does, I might give it a shot since at least it would be better than the WMC app. Then I would just have to figure out how to control playback without having to resort to a mouse.

Okay got Xbmc finally setup and running awesome!!!Love how it sorts the movies and then when i play it launches zoomplayer and plays movie.Great!

But one problem.

Is there a way to have it put all your ex. christmas movies in 1 folder and when you click that folder it THEN opens to display all the movies inside. Been trying for a day to do this and doesn't seem possible at this point. Can't believe nobody else doesn't have this working. I just don't want all my christmas movies displayed with my other movies. Just need them to have1 folder that shows up in the general movie selection from main screen, and then open to see what's inside. I guess i want to make my own collection! Any links or how to do it is greatly appreciated!!

There's a tutorial on smartplaylists in xbmc forum which is what you want. If you find a way for the videos to only show in one section instead of in movies and in your smart playlist please let me know, I haven't figured that one out yet.
I believe i saw that but will go double check one more time. Thanks for suggestion though. Hopefully they will see the need for us to create our own collections and implement it in later.

Welltried it,but with same results as you. Movies appear in both sections which is a deal breaker for me.As much as I love xbmc the one limitation really is a pain i the you know what. All I can do is hope that in future releases they will make it so you can create your own libraries or something.

Even tried to "trick" it into thinking all movies were part of a set and didn't work!! Oh well, got to xmas for them to hopefully work this issue out.

Your other option is building submenus and never going into your movie library. The problem there is you would have quite a bit of submenus.
What I did was create a Favorite for folders I didn't want as part of my main movie library (ex. Kids Movies) then create a custom home item for each favorite.
They don't scrape or show with normal library views but for my purpose that is just fine.

Thrillho, can you outline for us simple minded people your steps to what you did.

thanks brickie
I'm not home to get the exact wording but here goes:
- Add a source but set the file type to none so it won't add to the library.
- Browse to the folder through "video files"
- Bring up the context menu on the folder (right click if skin supports mouse, C if it doesn't) and "add favorite".
- most skins have an option to add favorites o the home screen. Through the Skin settings, find home or something to that effect and add custom home item pointing to that favorite.
There are a few skins that don't work well with this setup, Refocus being one. But I've used it and it works perfect under Aeon MQ3, Alaska, xperience1080, and Cirrus. I'm sure it works on more but that's what I've tried.

Hey guys, does the current official Eden version has a successful HD Audio pack?

I was using Eden RC2 with the patch, looking to update if there's an official one.

Thanks!
I haven't heard of anything official yet, but I believe I read the woman who created the HD Audio patch is now helping out on that end. Im currently using the patch which works awesome, except of I pause, then there's stutter in the audio
post #2324 of 3139
I believe HD audio and 10 bit software decoding are both slated for inclusion in the Frodo version 12 release. I think there are nightly builds that contain both that brave folks can install and use. Right now the Eden version 11 release with the HD audio patch although an unofficial release, works perfectly fine for me and I use MPC HC with MadVR as an external player for 10 bit files. If you upgrade to the version 11 with HD audio patch you shouldn't have any issues despite it not being an official release.
As Joe 6 Pack pointed out HD Audio has been included in nightly builds since 10 May, But unlikely to become a stable release for some time. Sometimes not for the faint hearted, but so far they have been rock solid for me.

Thanks gave it a try and I must be doing something wrong..Everything worked as you said but when I went to update the Library from the custom Favorites I made it merged it with my regular library. I have a folder called christmas Movies in with my regular movies. In this folder I have all my christmas movies in their own respective folder for metadata and whatever. Everything is good until I update library to pull the metadata and such for the chistmas folder..Until I do that it doesn't even show up in my library. Gonna keep on playing with it until i figure something out or go cazy. Hopefully in the future they will implement custom sets.

You can't scrape it or it will add it to your movies or tv shows depending on what you set it up as.
What you could do with the Aeon skin is create separate favorites that you can add to your main menu. So you could do things like create a Christmas movies, Kids movies, Actions movies, etc. smart playlist that you save as a favorite. You would then go into skin settings and add each favorite as separate main menu items with whatever name you choose.

You can then disable the Movies main menu item which will allow you to still scrape them to get metadata and coverart but since you will no longer see the Movies menu item you will not see them all in your main movies section. The downfall with this is things like sorting by genres or directors won't be available since you disabled the main movie section that had those subitems and you will have a lot of scrolling to do on the main menu depending on what other things you have on there.

Can I ask a stupid question (maybe!) as i am going through the whole thread...how is it that these win7 copies are genuine, free and legal ??

These ISO images are perfectly legal since they do not include any type of serial key.

To activate it you most likely have to buy a key from Microsoft.

Yeah, this is the thing I missed most coming from Media Browser.

Everything is organized nicely by your folder structures.

Does setting up Live TV become any less complicated or more stable if I don't want any recording features? Heck, I'm even willing to give up the guide.

Does the Aeon skin allow me to sort my movies by year, director, date, genre, as they do by name?

I have tried to find this section but getting lost.

Press down on the Movies menu item and you should see those options. I'm not at my computer so I don't remember if you can press either left or up depending on your current view to get the slide-out menu and select those options as well. I know I can do it when I'm viewing stuff in the Files view and sort my stuff by date, file, size, etc.

There is a movie sets add-on where you can manually add movies to sets. Since I'm ok with the default sorting into sets XBMC does I just stick to that instead but I'm pretty sure you could make sets of your own choosing with that add-on.
Thanks Joe's, for suggestions. Yeah the not scraping part sucks because without the metadata there is no way to have xbmc display at least the cover art ,correct? For those movies I would give up all the fan art, etc.. if I could at least get the cover art to show when scrolling thru them so it looks nice.

The favorites seem like a good idea, but just seems like alot of work..Trying to re categorize everything would just blow as they say.

What I was wondering is if turning off the Movies category and then scraping and then when done turn it back on. Would that keep the data from showing up in the main movie category.Would then have to turn off the Favorites(christmas movies) category whenever updating the main movie category...Anybody know if this would work?

Also my other option I was thinking about is using a smaller hard drive(got a few laying around) and just putting those movies exclusively on 1 of those. would thata then keep the main movie section from being able to scrape from that hard drive since it's pointed to a specific location?

Nope, once you scrape it, it will show up in your movies section if you define the folder as containing movies. You can set the folders to never scrape and save a thumbnail of the movie cover as folder.jpg and when you browse file mode XBMC will show that. That sort of defeats the purpose of a program like XBMC where you get to sort using the XML info like by genre or director, have metadata and thumbnails for the movie and actors and other cool things but if you are willing to make that compromise then the folder.jpg option should work for you.

Edit: I actually just thought of something. If you already have your movies sorted into different folders, you can scrape them and instead of using the movies option, you can go into File Mode by clicking down on the Movies section and selecting Files. If you have the option selected where XBMC replaces your file names with the scraped movie name, you will be able to view your Christmas movies with all the scraped metadata in their native folder structure.

Gotcha..Will try the folder thumb nail idea. And yeah you're right about this defeating some of the benefits of this program.BUT until a better solution gets implemented then it has to be this way.

Never tried this but it wouldn't hurt: setup your Christmas Movie folder, select movie for scrapping, set it up as a favorite, once XBMC has got all the meta data and stuff, go in into context menu and edit, when XBMC asks whether it's movies/tv/etc. select none, go to settings, video, library and clean. I'm not at home to try this but like I said can't hurt anything.

Joe, do you know the name of this add on? Tried searching for it thru all the add ons but nothing hit that seemed like what you were mentioning.
