Hey everyone, I added a source to videos, selected movies and the scraper, but when i click on Movies on the main page it states that there is an empty collection and that I need to add videos to the source. But I have. I have removed the source, added it again. Changed the content to none and then back again. Not sure what else to try, other than a complete uninstall and re-install.

Any ideas?

are you trying to setup a sync'd mysql library? if so, add the network shared version of your collection rather than the local machine drive folders

No, no mysql. Just trying to point it to my movies that are on my WHS 2011 via SMB.

Are you using the following?

• Movies are in separate folders that match the movie title - Enabled
• Exclude path from library updates - Disabled

I have the latest version of XBMC. I have a dual screen setup, with one computer screen and one output that goes through HDMI to a receiver and then to a projector. I've been able to get XBMC on the projector, while also having a separate set of windows on my normal computer screen. The problem is that once I start a video on XBMC, the cursor gets caught in the XBMC window and I cannot move the cursor to the other computer screen. Is there a way around this? I'm using Windows 7. (I have a program called the "Maxifier", which I can use for WMC to get around this very problem; the Maxifier allows me to start a video while WMC is maximized on the projector screen, but then move the cursor to the computer screen so that I can keep working.)

I need the ability to move from the XBMC window -- while maximized on the projector screen -- to the computer screen so that I can do work or at least use my computer while my kids watch a show.

I think it goes away when you disable "Mouse and Touch Screen Support" on the "Input Devices" tab of System Settings

In Ember, Tools Menu - Edit --> Settings
Go to the Movies tab, and select Ember Native Movies Scarpers.
Look for TMBD Extrathumbs size, and change to original.

I had this issue last night and the above sorted it.

I have been getting this problem too. On the xbmc forums, they say that it's something to do with a movie name not being parsed properly, but i don't believe that because I have two xbmc instances scanning the same sources: one works, the other generates this error.

You can bypass the error as follows:

Create a text file named advancedsettings.xml inside your userdata folder.

Put this text inside it:
This isn't a complete fix though - something is triggering the error. But you'll at least be able to ignore it.

Is it possible to downgrade to 11 Eden instead of using 12.0 Frodo? Can't seem to find a download link to downgrade. I'm having problems with (stuttering every like 30 seconds) video playback that I'm only experiencing in XBMC. Searching through forums online, a lot of people who have the same problem state they went back to Eden and playback issues were solved. I would like to keep HD Audio though. In the meantime I'm using Media Browser with WMC, everything works perfectly in this I just would prefer to use XBMC so I can get some Raspberry Pi's throughout the house. I have tried pretty much every configuration in playback in XBMC but can't get SD or HD video to play without what appears to be skipped frames or something. No issues with TMT5/PowerDVD12/WMC at all.

Here is my hardware:
-AMD A8 Trinity 5500 CPU with ATI 7560D GPU (Can do 1080p 2D/3D)
-MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 ITX Motherboard
-16GB Ram
-30GB SSD (Windows 7 Home 64-Bit)
-(2) 3TB WD Red Hard Drives (will expand as I run out of space)
-Lian PC-Q25 ITX (Small and can fit 8 hard drives in it)
-Using a 58-inch Plasma, and a 125-inch 2.35:1 screen with Panasonic PT-AE8000u projector.

No, no clean install, just upgraded. It's happening in all 4 of my computers. I am at the point that I may stop using xbmc all together. That's how annoying it has become.

Does XBMC or OpenElec support "album" FLAC files with CUE file support, either embedded or external? Even better if it support album art (internal or external .jpg as well).

I've been out of the HTPC game so long.....too much to read.

Dark_Slayer and GreenEyez. Thanks for replying. The movies are MKV's and each movie is in it's own folder. I did select for it to refresh and the exclude path was set for disabled.

What it ended up being was the fact that I was trying to hide the movies, the best of my ability for the kiddos, by burying it in a few subfolders. Well one of those subfolders I named Microsoft Sample Folder, and I guess XMBC looks for certain text strings and will exclude that string. So it picked up the Sample in my folder name, and excluded the folder from being scanned. This makes sense, because I guess you really wouldn't want any files scanned, for instance sample.mkv

I asked over in the XBMC forum if there is a list of all the text strings that may be excluded.

Thanks for the suggestions. It has been driving me crazy for a while now, and I couldn't believe it was the name of the folder that has been making it go crazy. If they point me towards a list of text strings that is excluded, i will post here if anyone is interested.

FWIW, best practice is to make explicit paths. I'm not sure how far XBMC will go if it's expecting every title to have it's own folder. It will either scrape and match, or scrape and fail. Recursive scanning is a separate setting. Anything that is recursively scanning should be pointed to the deepest path within a directory if possible. For example, a rename/move/metadata grab pointing at a comskip program's directory should only point to the "complete" folder which should be nested within the "queued" directory to prevent it looking where it shouldn't

Is the a guide I can follow to add Hulu and Amazon prime to XBMC? I just started using XBMC so it's fairly confusing to me at this point.

I am running XBMC on a Dell Latitude 10 tablet, which runs on Windows 8 pro, with its Atom Z2760 & Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (533Mhz). Is there any option we can do to its video decoder to fully use the Intel Graphic card to enable smooth video display ?

I am able to configure MPC-HC to use microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder for smooth handling of MKV full HD video files. But not in XBMC, even if I use DXVA rendering method along with enabling Sync Playback to Display. The video still experiencing minor stuttering.

Is there anyway to improve that ?

Internally there is no way to modify your splitter or decoder choices for XBMC

There is an unofficial build called DSPlayer that allows you to modify your splitter and decoders, and it is supposed to keep your OSD intact. You have to edit your xmls quite a bit to accommodate your library to your liking

If the OSD isn't of utmost importance to you, it's also fairly easy to send all video to MPC-HC as the primary player. You'll need to add an xml file to your userdata folder ( C:\users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata ). Open a notepad file and copy the code below, and then save it to that directory as playercorefactory.xml

Change the filename path if you are using mpc-hc 32 bit instead of 64

I am setting up a new machine its fresh install of windows 7 with XBMC.

I converted all my dvd to mp4 through handbrake high profile preset and I have about 10-20 files that will not play. They Play fine in vlc and they also play fine on my appletv2 with xbmc.

The log give me this error ERROR: CDVDDemuxFFmpeg::Open

I am running the latest release of XBMC frodo.

Machine specs if even needed are a old xeon 4 core 1.8ghz and a Geforce gt430 4 gigs of ram. I had this machine lying around and thought just to convert it to a HTPC


Any help would be much appreciated.

I did an upgrade, and then a reformat and clean install about a week ago on a Win 7 Pro 32 bit installation. Had all kinds of problems with crashes, jerky video, music files not playing, etc etc... I followed this audio troubleshooting guide and everything is golden now. Give it a try!

Ok..so I have just installed an Nvidea gt640 in my Gateway LX6810 - Q 8200 based HTPC. My hope was to be able to bitstream DTSMA and TrueHD but instead I have horribly unwatchable stuttery video on my 1080p files with DTSMA and nothing is passing through. I have been researching online and come to find that I may need the Intel® Management Engine Interface which I don't have and can't seem to get from the Gateway site. The original post says I have to have an i3 to bitstream I believe. I have no more time to research at this point so I'm hoping if someone can just tell me...Am I not able to do this with the hardware that I have? Everything worked fine with Eden and my 9800gt so if I can't bitstream with the PC I have then please tell me and put me out of my misery. I'll go back to what worked before.

As far as I know the gt640 should be able to bitstream hd audio, so provided you have connected the hdmi port of your gt640 to your av amp and have downloaded and installed the nvidia drivers from nvidia (not Microsoft update) and selected the nvidia sound device as the default sound device in windows mixer and in xbmc then you should be good to go. Just make sure you only mark the sound formats that your amp can decode in xbmc.

Be sure to select the WASAPI device in the audio setup if you want to bitstream. That will make the stuttering disappear.
