XBMC Media Center : Setup Guide, Knowlege Base & Support - Page 98

i already have metadata from media center master and already generate it to be avalaible to xbmc, but when i add my collection to xbmc it only show thumbnail only, and there is no plot metadata that i already got from media center master, how can i make the plot metadata to be available to xbmc

also when i use scraper like TMDB, my movie collection in Video-files shown that there are 548 total of item, but when i open the video-library after i scan it to update the library it only shown 411 total of item, many times i rescan it, but nothing change, is there any solution so that all of my video file can be added to the library and not only in the video-file menu, or is there any way i can add it manually

Did you tell MCM to create XBMC-compatible xml files for all items in your collection? MCM by default creates a 'movie.xml' file within each movie folder that works for MediaBrowser, but not XBMC. XBMC needs the '[moviename].xml' file instead.

EDIT: Sorry, the file XBMC needs will be called '[moviename].nfo', not '[moviename].xml'

You can bypass the error as follows:

Create a text file named advancedsettings.xml inside your userdata folder.

Put this text inside it:
Code:
<advancedsettings>
        <videoscanner>
                <ignoreerrors>true</ignoreerrors>
        </videoscanner>
</advancedsettings>

This isn't a complete fix though - something is triggering the error. But you'll at least be able to ignore it.

,

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Actually, I don't mind the error.

The problem is I am not getting new movies to show up on my playlists. I can see the new movies under >MOVIES>FILES, but not on the playlists.

already have that nfo and xml file inside every folder, but still there is no plot
if i don't want to use scraper instead just using my local metadata generate by MCM, how is the step to scan the video-file to make it to the movie library
as i see, in the change content option, if we're not choosing any scraper then xbmc won't scan any file to the library

btw how about my second question, when i use scraper like tmdb why it miss some file while scanning, so some of my video is not available in the library instead just in my video-file
post #2915 of 2944
stupid question but is there a way to put music into the overlay for movie series and individual TV shows(ie. music from the disc menu/movie theme)?

You still have to assign content type and scraper. If the nfo file you created is valid, then the scraping process will use that and not go online. If your movie is already in the library, I think you need to individually refresh it (not library update) and you will get an option to use the local nfo or go online.

Don't know anything about movies but there is a program addon "Tv Tunes" that will download TV show theme music to your local media folder and also has an option that skin can use to playback when browsing the TV show. (enable addon first, then select in the skin options). You can manually provide a "theme.mp3" file as well and it will play.

can you give screenshot for this "If the nfo file you created is valid, then the scraping process will use that and not go online" and "individually refresh it (not library update) and you will get an option to use the local nfo or go online." i try to prove it by disconecting my internet connection, so when i use xbmc and i want to scrape there's no option for using local nfo, whats available is only add on scraper like tmdb, it means that my nfo file generate by mcm is not compatible for xbmc, i already check the generate xbmc compatible data and create xbmc compatible data and use for frodo for version of xbmc metadata on MCM option, but still, it doesn't happen like you describe

btw about when i use scraper like TMDB, why it doesn't scan all the file that i add to the video-files section in xbmc, i mean after i add all the file to xbmc video-files section it contain 531 items, but when i scan so that it will be shown in the video-library section using tmdb scraper, only 411 items available, i mean why it's missing the remaining file

Typically, this issue is seen when you do not have the file named correctly. It needs to be named the exact way it is seen on TMDB. So find one of the movies that isn't showing up in Movies, and look at how you have it named, in your folder structure, and go to TMDB website and look it up. Compare it to make sure that it is named the same.

Select a media (eg movie) info page and then "refresh" and get this:

Also if debug is on in log see something like this:
Code:
14:06:29 T:5424 DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Found matching Full NFO file: smb://KAKANAS/MoviesNAS/The Good The Bad And The Ugly/The Good The Bad And The Ugly.nfo

does splash do the idiotic downsampling mandated for no reason by the studios?

edit: i guess not

why on earth do studio do such idiocy? find me ONE pirate who gives the slightest about 16bits vs 24bits or 48kHz vs great, ONE. all they do is drive everyone into looking into all sorts of places that i bet they'd rather they hadnt led people to, what is the purpose of it all? who is going to bus snoop audio being sent to analog to get 24bits to spread around? jesus most of that crowd will just compress the 16bits uncompressed to MP3 anyway.

Splash Pro EX does not do downsampling. If you are connected HDMI, as I am with a video card capable of TrueHD or DTS-HS Master, it goes all out,

How about:
"AudioEngine brings high-definition audio to the already amazing XBMC. No matter the audio source, AE handles the decoding, resampling, transcoding, encoding and streaming of your media, including for the first time DTS-MA, TrueHD and 24-bit audio. XBMC has never sounded better! Features of AE include: - support for DTS-MA / Dolby TrueHD Bluray formats"

Ok so I wanted to play around with xbmc again so I installed the latest frodo version. Tried to play a few test files after adding some movies and my std dvds play back fine but any HD won't.
The Blu Ray movies play fine in mpc-hc. So is it a setting in xbmc I need to tweak? The previous version worked I believe but it has been such a long time I can't recall 100%.
It plays back like it is in slow motion and no audio at all.

Likely to be your audio settings - see here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=146911

Definitely, a sound problem!

Try to use only the sound from video card, not Realtek!

Ok that helped. I am still getting some video tear at the bottom of the screen and in the current movie test it is not filling the whole screen so off to play w/video settings.

Video card: ATI HD 7450 with a sony 55" LCD.

Check you overscan settings in Catalyst Control Centre - set for each refresh rate you use (24, 50, 60 etc.)

Tearing can be resolved by enabling vertical blank sync - http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Settings/System

Wow, 98 pages of content to sift through. That's crazy! I have browsed and done some searching but so far I've not been able to find the answers I seek so forgive me if they've already been responded to in here.

First, I'm trying to determine if there's a method of increasing items in the CE script. I'm looking for a play-back sequence as follows;

1. Trivia Intro Video(s)
2. Slides w/ music playlist
3. Trivia Outro Video(s)
4. Movie Theater Intro Video(s)
5. Coming Attractions Intro Video(s)
6. Trailer(s)
7. Coming Attractions Outro Video(s)

A. Theater Promo Video (Let's all go to the Lobby, etc)
B. Cartoon Short Intro Video
C. Cartoon Short

8. Feature Presentation Intro Video(s)
9. Rating

D. Theater Specific Audio Video (playlist, randoms etc for THX, Equipment Promos and such)

10. Audio (DD/DTS/THX etc) Only Dolby or dts formats videos here
11. Countdown Video
12. Movie Starts
13. Intermission Video(s) - If selected
14. Rating Video - if selected
15. Audio Format Video - if selected
16. Next Movie Starts
.
. The last three can repeat up to 3 more times
.
17. Feature Presentation Outro Video(s)
18. Movie Theatre Outro Video(s)

Of course the Theater Promo videos can be put into the Coming Attractions Outro slot but still curious if there's possibility for both.

Also, is it possible to have 2 separate CE scripts? The reason being 1 for regular 2D movies and 1 for 3D movies where the trailers and cartoon short can be different folders containing 3D videos. Also a "Put your 3D Glasses on Now" intro video.

What is the best way to keep Media Center Master and XBMC synced? Enabling XBMC integration [HTTP control] in MCM and then run MCM's XBMC scan for new media [rather than using XBMC's native scan]??

I configured all the scan folders in MCM & fetched the metadata. MCM says I have 505 movie titles, whereas when I scanned the exact same folders in XBMC, it brought up 515 movie titles.

How should I "weed out" the 10 extra movies in XBMC? Remove the saved/cached movie entries and try it again through MCM's XBMC setting?

Thanks

I used this guide to set up MQ3 on my XBMC a couple of months back and was really happy with the result.

Unfortunately, my hard-drive corrupted so I'm starting again from scratch. But your section on MQ is gone! ...well, it is for the time being.

Would you please be able to post or send to me your old MQ3 section, as I am eager to set up my HTPC asap.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to XBMC and will be setting up a htpc media center for the first time. I was looking to purchase a desktop from Best Buy either Gateway (this) or Asus (this). What I don't know is what kind of hardware are needed to play 1080p movies and HD audio (including Blu-ray). Does the Gateway or Asus seem good for a XBMC setup? What else is needed beside a pc? Or is there something better than using a pc for XBMC? Also can someone point me where I can learn how to rip dvd and blu-rays (as you can tell I'm a noob to all of this smile.gif? Any info or suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

I have tried looked and I have got nothing to work for scraping home movies.

I guess the Question is how do you create your own Custom poster, NFO, fan art ETC so when XBMC scrapes for it, it will pick it up properly. I have tried following the guides but they don't seen to work.

any example including NFO files would be great.

Thanks.

I have created 'custom tv series' for a lot of videos that don't have a show listing on The TVDB.
For example I have all the Simpsons and Family Guy extras ripped. Since there are so many of them I made them their own series with seasons.
So I have 'The Simpsons' and 'The Simpsons Extras'

What I am getting at is I was thinking about doing the same for home movies. Making them like a tv series with the seasons being the year of the videos. So season 98 would be movies from 1998, Season 01 would be movies from 2001 and so fourth.

This can all be easily done with Ember Media Manager.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116941
You can make your own NFO's very easily by just filling in all the information. Put the artwork in the directories and have EMM see them.
XBMC will see this when it scrapes for new shows.

Just an idea....

Of you could simply use EMM to load up the info for them like you would movies.

I think the thing is, in XBMC, you either have to set your video source as a content type (movies or tvshows) or no type. With no type you are limited to the file folder structure view. If you set up your folders/subfolders intelligently, you could have a partial solution without doing much of anything else. If you set a content type then the nfos and art have to agree with the type you use (movie or tvshow) , Now you have the full range of library-based views, and also access to "smart playlist" which is a filtered view. I guess using type tvshow gives you some of the benefits (maybe more?) of smart playlist by treating episodes as logically related videos. (For example you could use tvtunes addon and stick an appropriate mp3 in the tvshow folder and have play as you click through the episode views.)

It is surprising that after all of this time they have not added a home movies type. I've seen people talk about it many times. Yeah you can use the smart playlists but they should have their own type. There is also a third type 'music videos' but I've tried it a few times and it doesn't work very well.... and I wish it would as I have about 800 of them.

As for the home movies I still think they should incorporate them in the selection process....although I do like the idea as doing it as a tvseries also....

I didn't know about the 'tvtunes addon'.... sounds pretty cool. I will have to check that out.
