Well, some progress in this week's episode. The new land looks good for Parker, Todd did something stupid that cost them time, and Dave is about ready to get Indian River in production. Can't wait unitl Todd orders Dave to move his new custom washplant to Todd's claim because the Trammel is MIA and todd may have been taken. Seems he dumped Little Blue for Jack in the Beanstalk's three magic beans or nuggets, in this case.

Flipping in that locale looks like an excellent way to get killed.

No kidding. If people are afraid to make the trek themselves, I guarantee there are plenty of people already doing it for them - and making sure that they stay afraid.

Long time inactive thread.

Latest situation: Todd had deadline to meet his investor's requirement for amount of gold mined and missed it. Todd has proved he is not capable of managing a production environment. Turbo Trommel turned into expected pig in poke as it fell apart, putting majority of gold into tailings. Quartz Creek's season appears over. Loss of funding probably means Indian River is in jeopardy, even though it is running as a business and making a profit. Prediction: Todd will take over Indian River and run it into ground before end of season. There is already a rift between Dave and Todd, when Todd pulls rank. I am sure it will get worse. Maybe Dave will leave.

Porcupine Creek: Dakota boys dirt-moving tools broke and they invested in new gear. Likely to have a big win by end of season. Former bad guy may be big winner by end of season.

Big Nugget: Parker is going nuts, coming to slow realization that his grandpa's mine has simply run out of pay dirt.

What if they had just purchased TWO washplants like 'Big Red' that has worked perfectly on the Indian River claim?
Based on the test pans, etc...it seems Quartz Creek would be similar to Indian River in terms of gold production and they would be on track to hit the 1000 oz goal.
Yet another devastatingly bad decision by Todd. Discovery Channel, please remove this fool from the show for next season and let Dave run the project.

I like Todd but he should let Dave run things.

Do we know how much Discovery pays these guys...?

How on earth do they even recoup running costs?

Real or not they have "investors" one dropped by recently to bust on Todd for not getting any gold.

What I can't understand is Todd has some huge dump trucks this season. Supposedly it's only a couple miles from one operation to the other. Why not load up all that great dirt they have left stockpiled at Quartz Creek on the dump trucks and run it through the other wash plant at Indian River???

First, Big Red was designed and built by Fred Dodd and Dave Turin. they just didn't go out and buy one.

One of the lessons of season two and little blue was that the best cleanouts occurred after a short dirt run. When they let it run for days, they lost nearly all the gold. They didn't realize that the riffles and moss only could hold so much material before it overflowed. So when they did the initial run at Quartz Creek at the start of season three, they ran for days and of course gold went into the tailings. it would have been inconvenient, but cleaning out Little Blue each day probably would have been far more effective than the turbo trammel.

I think we see the splitting up of the Hoffman crew next week. Guide for this week's episode indicate Todd takes over Indian River and merges team (meaning some of the lesser guys have to go). You know that Todd's dad, Jack will be there, and probably the rest of the season two crew. Issue is that the loser Hoffman crew will take over a very profitable Turin crew and that leads to a lot of issues, such as when to split the gold, how much should each worker at each site get? the seven ounces the Hoffman's have produced won't pay for the porta potty. So likely Todd will take the Indian River gold to pay for the turbo trommel, to pay for equipment leasing, fuel, investor cut, landowner cut, etc and then divvy what is left up. If anything is left, then how do they split it? The guys who get pink slips will want paid immediately. And what percentages go to the pink slipped Quartz Creek workers versus the pink slipped Indian River crew.

I think Dave Turin won't take it and will probably leave (to return in season four as new competition) and possibly may take Big Red with him (since he and Dobbs designed it) unless todd pays them for what it is really worth.

we could possibly see Todd portrayed as evil as Dakota Fred for claim jumping.

Well I was wrong, they are one big happy team where Todd can't bear to fire anyone and still is trying for that 1000 oz goal with less than 50 days left and 275 oz in the can. The interesting thing is in six days double team did 45 oz, whereas team Turin did 53 the week before in 7, effectively the same number of oz per day with 2x the people/overhead. Investor was right, need to cut team in half or else need to start working 24/7 or bring pay dirt from QC to IR at night, running Big Red wash plant 24/7.

So.....they pull out over 100 oz in the last cleanup and everybody is "hugs all around"? Todd still F'd up and washed who knows how many ounces out the bottom of the plant....he needs to go....hopefully next season Dave has his own operation.

....and Parker calls it quits on the new ground? Get your excavator up there and chew out some of those tight curves and make the road safer for crying out loud!

the week before they got 137 oz, so they likely lost 30 oz. todd's attitude towards the Big Red wash plant is just incredible.
