I actually own an "old" Sanyo Z2000 since may 2008 (which is my 4th projector, after a 3-Lcd Fujitsu in 1998, a CRT Sony D-50 in 2001, a Dlp BenQ PE 8700 in 2004).
I'd like to change of videoprojector. If I was alone, I would wait a little bit. But my six years old daughter is a huge fan of 3D movies (especially Pixar).
She asked me few days ago if 3D projectors were available.
When I said "Yes", she said she wanted one...
Ok so let see what's in the neighborhood.
Since my BenQ PE 8700 (which had a lot of problems), I don't want to spend a lot of money in a projector, because the projector is in my living-room with white walls (and a grey one) that outperforms the contrast and black level of the unit.
So I went to a big dealer in Paris (France... by the way, sorry for my english) to see new models...
I've seen several good 3D-projectors like Sony HW30ES, Panasonic PT 5000.
I don't want a DLP projector because half of the movies will be seen by my daughter. Some DLP projector gave me headaches sometimes (not the BenQ, hopefully) and don't want to take any risk for my daughter.
The Sony and the Panny are very nice units... Nice colors, very decent sharpness (especially for the Panny... even with the smoothscreen (I don't like it), I found a sharp picture), good contrast (the Sony is better at this point)... But the price. I can handle this, of course. But since I recently get divorced, I have other things to buy, more important than a projector.
So for my little Princess (and me, of course
), I'm looking for units that have still very decent picture but a lower price.
I can have a JVC X3 for a very good price.
I read a lot of thread (in France, UK and here) about the JVC X3, especially the lamp problems.
So my question is simple : is the X3 still a good performer (price divided by 2 in Europe with the new X30 arriving)?
I've seen the X3 only with 3D contents. Contrast and light were very good. But the demo scene (a dance trailer) was not very good (to much movement) to give a good idea...
I didn't have time to see how it performed in 2D.
I've seen the X30 and didn't like it very much in 2D (very soft picture...). I was very surprised because I've seen a JVC HD 350 recently and the picture was very sharp...
Do you think that the JVC X3 will outperform my old Sanyo Z2000 (especially in sharpness because if we talk about contrast and black level, there is no possible challenge... the JVC is in another galaxy) and give a decent 3D for my little girl ?
