I normally have the projector's HDMI input (I only use HDMI #1) connected to my Denon AVR and I use the AVR for HDMI switching the various sources. I have not had any lockup issues when I operate my RS40 with the AVR doing all of the HDMI switching, but I have heard others report issues with certain AVRs or HDMI switches causing issues with the JVC projectors.
Is there any chance that the times you have seen the problem with your projector not responding to the remote also involved you disconnecting or perhaps switching HDMI inputs/sources?
With the setup I have, I don't physically disconnect the HDMI for anything, however, the HDMI connection resets each time a new video choice plays, even tho the source is not switched.
I have noticed a FULL lockup of the system, when the HDMI is physically unplugged or switched - but in this case, neither the remote, nor the back buttons will work - this required me attaching a vaccum cleaner hose to the exhaust vents, while I disconnected the power and restarted, so that the heat protector would not prevent me from repowering the unit.
I can test your hypothesis tho - when I get home on the weekend, I will connect the PJ directly to a bluray player and run for a while without changing content or source, bypassing the AVR. If the remote continues to work, then it may be a firmware issue, not a heat issue.
I'll let you know. Thanks for the tip.
