ZD101 and ZD201 glasses difference? - Page 3

I've used ZD101's and they most definitely made rainbows on my set. I think rainbows are based on your TV screen's polarization combined with the polarized lenses of the 3D glasses. So, not all sets have visible rainbows. The ZD101s on a Samsung DLP set most definitely creates rainbows.

Correct, its all the factors involved.

The ZD201 and ZD101 that i have make no rainbow on my projection screen (using an Optoma hd66 projector with Optoma 3D-XL).

This shop4usb is still selling them on amazon.co.uk. I ordered it from the uk site, about 6 sellers are selling them .. some with obnoxious prices .. some with average.

I think mine will cost me $90 in AUD.

Received quote from Daniel at TrueDepth 3D and for 3 pairs of TrueDepth 3D rechargeable glasses with shipping to Canadais $225, now thats like $75 a pair, not bad at all

I doubt you're still worried about this, but for anyone else looking into it I just ordered a pair of ZD201s from the Expansys Canada site and I didn't have to pay import duties. They show as $95.99 but when I ordered them they went down to $91.42. The shipping was expensive though. It's minimum $25, and I sprung for the expedited shipping for an extra $6. After shipping and tax, it came to just under $240, so it's about $120/pair. That is pretty pricey, but I don't think I would have saved much importing from the UK - and the price still isn't bad compared to what the ZD101s go for.

Expansys Canada have jacked up the ZD201 price to 113.99 per pair, with an additional 24.10 in shipping charges.

For anyone still interested - I got 2 pair from a UK seller for ~ $30 a pair - you can find them here. eBay seller - avtradinglimited

With shipping to Canada 2 pair ended up costing me ~ $80. No custom or duty fees were charged.

I'm very happy with them.

/\ Those glasses are a fake from what I can tell. It says "For Optoma ZD 201" not that they are OPtoma ZD 201s. Take a close look at those glasses and here is what ZD 201s look like:

Here are the glasses on ebay:

The ebay link has a deceptive title and the glasses are NOT ZD201s but some kind of Chinese knock-offs.

Thanks for the heads up. Apologies to anyone else that I have may led astray.

For myself, knock off or whatever, they work wonderfully. I have no complaints about them whatsoever in terms of fit and functionality.

I did notice the power button when pressed again, cycles through some lens shifts .. 1 is not 3D, 1 is 3D flipped, and another click makes it another 3D with less depth .. now the funny thing is .. the 1st click that gets you into 3D is the true 3D, anything else after that is less 3D .. and if the 1st click doesn't get the left/right lens sync right .. you'll have to use the projector menu .. so that's not much help! .. so i think they just got rid off that in ZD201 altogether ..

I know this thread is old, but no one corrected this post. The ZD101's can do 2D conversion, that is what the poster above is describing (incorrectly). After first powering on the ZD101's go into 3D mode, click the power button again and it goes in to Left frame only, click the button again and it goes to right frame only. This allows simulview / dualview / 3D-2D conversion. I use it to allow multiplayer games on the same screen with 100% of the screen useable by both players, works very well.

Mods, if this is inappropriate, please delete - I have two pairs of barely used ZD201's for sale in the classifieds section here. Asking only $50 a pair + $6 shipping. These are legit ZD201's, used maybe 10 times each. We bought a new TV that has passive 3D so I don't need these any longer. Great deal for these as they are extremely hard to find in the US.
