Hi I'm brand new to this forum, in fact I found it in search of my ps3 dilemma.

I recently purchased the WD-60C1. I got a slim ps3 to use as Blu-Ray/Gaming and I have it hooked up directly to the TV.

I also have the switching problem on my ps3. When i power up my tv the standard PS3 menu shows up. However, when I select a disc either BD or a game, I get the same problems you guys have been describing. It tries to load and gives me the "invalid Format" in the left top corner and then goes in its "freak out" mode and displays white/black distortion.

I received my tv last Thursday and havent found a real fix, just the temporary chaning inputs, changing display mode, etc.

I hope this helps you guys as this thread has helped me, I will continue to monitor the prgress of whoever is getting a new unit.

Did you guys try a HDMI 1.3 cable and not the new HDMI 1.4 cables?

I am still on a 1.3 cable im pretty sure. I was in a rush that day and picked up a cheap energizer(LOL) hdmi from walmart. From what ive read however the cable type hasnt seemed to help previous users.

I was going to put in a order for this model tv today but since it have an issue with the PS3...I will not be buying model/make. It's nothing like playing a PS3 on big screen tv.

I know how you feel. The image is fantastic once it syncs and it seems to be affecting asmall group of customers. I hope to find a solution based on what the OP does.
Oe thing to think about quikryde is that you wont find a tv this cheap with this picture. Especially on a flat display, ie: LCD, LED, Plasma. So see what happens inthis thread with the OP getting a replacement. Hopefully it resolvrs his issue and I can follow suit.

Hi guys, thanks for posting. I hope that more people who have this problem will come forth and make a post. That way Mitsubishi might come up with a fix.

I am on the slim PS3, fw 3.41. It looks looks like these issues are independent of PS3 model and firmware, as I have not been able to find a pattern between my situation and the other people who posted.

Even though the very helpful Mitsubishi customer care representative barked at me that there was something wrong with either me or the PS3, it is clear that it is in the TV the problem lies. (That was strong sarcasm by the way, he was the least helpful and most stubborn rep. I have ever talk to). I regularly use my PS3 with two other flatscreens in my apartment, without issues. The rep. did not want to listen to that however, as that would result in him having to do his job (taking the unit in for repair, like the warranty suggests).

I will receive my replacement unit on Thursday around noon, so I will report back on both this issue (basically whether or not it is still there), and if the new unit has the same level of Silk Screen Effect.

well i just got my tv here today and well i dont really see any SSE and the image looks so nice but... invalid error on my ps3 the HDMI cables im using is Audio Quests Chocolate i think they are but the thing is i have 2 of the same cables and its working for my cable box but not my ps3 this really blows i dont want to get a tv after 3 weeks wait to then have it returned

Oh man, I am really sorry to hear that Ace. I was hoping this was only an issue for a few of us. At least you got it from Dell so you can get a refund or replace it.

yea unfortunately i bought this tv because it was the only tv in my current budget but i wanted to update my error... i switched the ps3 to hdmi 1 and my cable box to hdmi 2. they both work fine and on ps3 when i try to play a game or movie it just goes to no picture in between the switch but then goes on to showing what ive selected. right now i have to head over to school but when i get home ill try turning on my ps3 and the tv after a while away from it to see if it works or if i get invalid format again. but i hope it was just while the ps3 was configuring to the tv... also when i turned on the tv it sounded like a small crackling but then stopped havent seen anything bad since, again ill give it some time to see how it works after a day or two. ttyl

just a quick follow up on my situation... the tv is acting normal no SSE and also no invalid format after i switched the cables earlier this morning everything has been good... i played various games and seen a movie or two and so far so good. hope when u get ur replacement tv everything works out for u and that it was only a bad batch such a good tv quality with the settings i got off site looks amazing

I received the replacement unit on Thursday, but had a flight the same day and therefore could not find the time to test it before departure. Will be back around January 8th to give a report on whether or not the replacement TV has the same issues as the one I am sending back.

Hi everyone!

I thought I would put my two cents in and maybe offer some help to those of you struggling.

After struggling to get any competent person to help me I had a supervisor call me and finally after one week I solved my problem.

For those of you getting a screen that looks zoomed in or not right you need to go to "Display Settings not Video settings like many of you did

Once you are there go to screen size and adjust to the screen size of your TV

After that shut down your TV and then restart and you should be fine

It looks like for me I have to restart when I switch from PS3 to DIRECTV

Loving my 3D TV

If anyone has any questions feel free to message me

Glad your TV is working well. Unfortunately, this problem is unrelated to the above issue, of incorrect zoom / screen size. I will report back on the behavior of the replacement set, when i return to NYC.

I just got my WD-60C10 and love it.

That was until i hooked up my PS3 and got the input errors. A small percentage of the time, it does work though.
I'm not sure what to do.

Should I call Dell, since I bought it from them?

i'm going to have my friend bring his PS3 over just to make sure it's not mine. but everything is practically brand new. even using monster cable HDMI's, which i think are total crap and just a gimmick.

Hey I found this tread because of an unrelated issue that dealt with user issue not TV. But for all you guys here, I have the old chunky ps3 and have not had any issues with the tv that I got from dell during their $600 free shipping deal. I have played FF XIII for several hours, watched Dr No on blu-ray, used the media server to stream from computer, have NOT done 3d. Everything works, have not had a video or audio problem. I have no clue as to what HDMI cables I have, I got them from the store several years ago. They are RCA. I also have latest firmware, NOT jailbroken.

it's the PS3. my friend brought over his slim ps3 ver 2001a and it worked flawlessly. my ver 2501a immediately started acting up afterward.

also, having a av receiver with hdmi can help lessen the "handshake" issues.

I had the same issue with invalid formats and 3d not working. I had replaced all HDMI cables for my equipment with no correction. I then replaced the HDMI cable that came with the 3d starter kit and what do you know I have not had one issue. It is a piece of crap cable replace it if you are having problems.

I'm glad you posted this. I just ordered, and am due to receive, a 73C10 specifically to use with my PS3 for 3D Blu-Ray and 3D gaming. After all of the research I'd done on the TVs, and ordering, I was distraught to find this thread. And I'm glad I read all the way to the last post (yours).

From what I was reading, I was wondering if it could perhaps be a cable issue. It would make sense they would include the cheapest cable they possibly could with the 3D starter kit/adapter. So hopefully A) I won't have any issues when I set arrives next week or B) if I do, simply replacing the cable that came with the 3D adapter will fix it.

I am getting similar problem with my WD-60C10 TV but my set was kinda auto-correct itself when it encountered this error. When I tried to set my PS3 (with latest FW) or WD TV Live video setting to 1080P 24Hz output, my mitsu is giving a blank screen with "Invalid Format" text on the upper right hand of the screen then after a 5-10 seconds the PS3 or WDTV will revert back to the previous working video setting.

It looks like 24Hz is not supported by this TV even if it was mentioned in their spec sheet that it supports 24Hz. When the PS3 or WDTV is set to 1080P 60Hz, no "Invalid Format" error is seen. I have tried more than 3 HDMI's but getting the same error on 24Hz.

I updated the firmware on my TV yesterday and the 24Hz Handshake problem on my PS3 disappeared. But the problem on my WDTV @ 1080p 24Hz is still there. I am using cheap HDMI 1.3 cable on both setup.

Again, I'm no expert, but from all of the reading I've seen on this problem (which has been seen on DLP, LCD, Plasmas, PS3s, BD players, etc) it's virtually always been the cable.

In theory the HDMI 1.3 spec specifies the 10.2Gbps required for 1.4. But when buying a cable make sure it's a high speed cable. There are "low cost" and "cheap" cables. Low cost just cost very little but work great. "Cheap" cables are likely not up to spec and cause issues (like this).

Go to monoprice.com and buy some High Speed HDMI cables (24AWG to be safe). This place has quality cables for the best price you're likely to find anywhere (I got 3 x 6ft 24AWG HDMI High Speed cables for $18 shipped.... that's $6/ea.... not bad).

I bought my wd-60638 tv on black friday. I had several problems with my ps3/Xbox and tv. I kept getting green screens and invalid format and picture with no sound. I tried 4 different Ps3s and 3 Xboxs and 1 dtv receiver. I tried 6 different hdmi cables, and going straight from the gaming consoles to the tv or through the 3D adapter and still i had the same problem.

I called amazon customer support and received a new replacement. I made sure on this new tv that I bought good hdmi cables from amazon (1.4 with Ethernet). On my new tv wih new hdmi cables, I noticed that my non ps3 devices are recognized much faster now. However, my 3 ps3s has problems being recognized.

My ps3 firmwares are 3.41 slim, 3.56 slim, 3.55 kmeaw (broken drive). I think it may be a problem where Sony is trying to push 3D images through 1.3 hdmi port. I am not happy with this MIT tv. If I didnt buy the 3D starter kit, I would have returned this tv a long time ago...

I got my free 3D kit yesterday for my 60C10 and setup was no brainer. It looks awesome with the included 3D preview disc with my PS3 (It only does everything TM)

I am still getting the invalid format with my WDTV Live every once in a while but it auto corrects itself if it encounters this error. Picture goes blank for like 1-2 seconds and then goes back. I can live it.

I can't wait for the Avatar 3D to be available to the public by 2012. Damn Panasonic for buying the selling rights until 2012.

so i just bought a Mitsubishi wd-73638 73" and im having the same issues with my ps3 and my cable box(both hooked up with hdmi cords).sometimes when i turn on the tv they work other times it just says in the top left corner no signal/invalid format for about 30 secs and then the screen turns bright white and i have to either switch to a different input or turn off the tv then back on and most times after that they both work but no sound????ive had this tv for two days and wish i woulda found this forum sooner lo. so what i really need to know is, i know i got two cheaper hdmi cables, ive red every post on this subject and it seems 50/50 to whether this prob is the tv or just the hdmi cable.do you guys think better hdmi cables will solve this problem?or should i exchange the tv for another of the same model, or just get a refund, it sucks because the screen on this tv is absolutely beautiful but if im gonna have this issue two days in, is it really worth getting another Mitsubishi? any input would help thanks in advance
