Size of screen

Thread Starter
I have a Sanyo PLV-Z5 with the following stats:
ANSI lumens: 1100

Contrast (full on/off): 10,000:1

Light Engine: 1280x720, native 16:9, 3x 0.7" PolySi LCD.

Lens and Throw Distance: 2:1 manual zoom/focus lens with manual H/V lens shift. Throws a 100" diagonal 16:9 image from 10.1' to 20.1'

I am looking to hang the projector from the ceiling from about 11 feet back, although I could do less.

From the stats it appears to me, a newbie, that a 100" diagnol screen is best. I can get this, but unless there is noticeable degradation I would prefer to get a 106" screen (Carada - 106 Inch Diagonal Criterion Series Projection Screen - 1.78 to 1) with a 'brilliant white' option (gain of 1.4).

Do you believe there will be a noticeable difference between me getting the 106 versus the 100? As an example will the brightness factor be noticeably worse on a 106 screen with my hardware? Other issues?

Thanks!

you should go to "projection screen" forums. About size, you wouldn't notice a huge difference between 100" and 106" diagonal screens, although 1100 ANSI lumens isn't too bright and you will need to darken the room a lot. What about projection screen gain, for whatching movies the closer gain to 1 the better. 1,4 gain means that projection light is reflected 40% more compared to projection source, which may cause color blur and other negative effects.
