Shameless on SHO HD - Page 3

Maybe they got some negative viewer feedback on Frank's original character- cause his behavior has been much better in the last couple of episodes as compared to the pilot and first episode. He's actually lucid and coherent throughout the full hour now

Probably out of concern for what else might be in Sheila's toy chest. ;-)

I was negative toward UK Frank but more and more he's Effing brilliant, the more lucid and coherent the less it's Frank. UK Monica on the other hand NEEDS TO DIE. CHRIST. lol

Anyway yeah... I might have to give up on the US version. UK just kicks US to the curb. I'm really sad about that. I'll continue to chew on my sock now...

I am fairly certain they stopped taping any recent episodes months ago. I do not think you get a high profile actor and keep him drunk and not talking for the rest of the season.

I think the whole point in introducing Frank the way they did is to establish that he is NOT a "functional alcoholic" but is a total basket case. Keeping our expectations low. I thought it was pretty effective. In reality, there's nothing about Frank that's funny, but he does create some funny situations for others. If it wasn't for his kids looking out for him, Frank would be living in a cardboard box.

This show is great. I love how we slowly find out about each member of the family. I was beginning to think that Carl was just a background character, since we knew next to nothing about him. And now we know that Lip is actually a pretty smart kid using his brains for money.

It's more like the whole town (too a point of course). I can tell you this much though, US Frank would last ALOT longer on his own than UK Frank.

I got a good kick out of this line:

"I'm not a religious man, but every now and then there comes a child that makes me believe in the existence of Satan."

Or ...

"Have you ever been with a black guy?"
"Does rape count? ... I was acquitted."

And then there's Joan Cusack who makes you laugh and cry at the same time.

I love this show!

Wow. Awesome episode last night.
Really, Showtime's whole programming block was good.

I guess that Special K really took Frank out. I was scared Frank would wake up when the "bad guy" shook him around.
Then there is that scene with Ian with the aggressive sex with that one dude. How interesting was that.

The whole season was worth it just for the swimming scene alone...

Great stuff. SHO is pretty brillant for bringing this show to the US, but also having shows on when other networks like HBO don't have any shows on.

Has definitely caused me to hold on to Showtime after Dexter's season ended. Otherwise, I might cancel my cable!

Showtime Gives Second-Season Pickups To 'Shameless' & 'Episodes'
By Nellie Andreeva Deadline.com - February 28th, 2011

Showtime has renewed both of its freshman series, drama Shameless and comedy Episodes, for a second season. The William H. Macy-Emmy Rossum-starring family drama Shameless received a 12-episode order, while the size of the order for the Hollywood-centric Episodes starring Matt LeBlanc is yet to be determined. Production on both series will begin later this year. With the pickups for Shameless and Episodes, Showtime is now bringing back its entire winter Sunday lineup. In January, the pay cable network gave an early renewal to veteran comedy Californication. The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim that has met both SHAMELESS and EPISODES since their January debuts makes it clear that these two brash and sophisticated series are burgeoning hits, said Showtime entertainment president David Nevins. John Wells is carving out a tone that is truly unique in the television landscapeequal parts drama and comedy. And EPISODES marks the universally embraced and hilarious return to television of an inspired comedy triumvirate: Matt LeBlanc, and creators Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane..

From John Wells and Paul Abbott, SHAMELESS is based on the long-running hit UK series and stars Macy as a working class patriarch of an unconventional Chicago brood of six kids headed by the eldest sibling (Rossum) who keep the home afloat while their dad is out drinking and carousing. The series averages nearly four million weekly viewers across multiple platforms and is on pace to be the network's second-highest rated drama series behind DEXTER (5.2 million). SHAMELESS hails from with John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV, with Wells, Abbott and Andrew Stearn executive producing. EPISODES is a co-production between Showtime Networks in the U.S. and the BBC in the UK, written and executive produced by David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik. Jimmy Mulville also executive produces through his Hat Trick banner. The show centers around a husband and wife producing team who are forced to navigate the many pitfalls of the Hollywood television business when their successful British show is brought to America.

It is good to see both shows were picked up.

12 episodes for next season...Is that how many we're getting in Season 1? I think Episodes premiered the same night and it's already done.

Yes, the original commission for Season 1 is twelve episodes. That's the typical number of episodes these shows get, for some reason. Dexter is also twelve episodes, as are most other shows on premium networks.

Episodes only had 7 episodes planned.

Last night's episode was grand.
I shouted out when the kids put the liquor back in his mouth. I think he could have done it.

The foster kid thing is crazy. lol.

Good stuff.

Shameless is awesome.

Wow. This show is, for lack of a better word, shameless!

I was wondering if we'd ever see the mom, and looks like she's just as messed up as Frank is. And speaking of messed up, Sheila went into a hissy-fit when Frank wouldn't give her a fake teddy bear. That woman has serious issues.

Chloe Webb. It took me a moment, but I finally remembered she played Mona in "Tales of the City." I recognized her voice.
She also played Danny DeVito's girlfriend in the Schwarzenegger movie comedy "Twins".
... and Nancy in "Sid and Nancy". She did a good job in that movie.

Is there any character on Shameless besides 10 yr old Debs that doesn't have serious issues?
In Fact the whole Gallagher clan by itself is a pretty good argument for mandatory reproductive sterilization

Lip has got a decent head on his shoulders.
Not sure how you would think Debs doesn't have any serious issues considering she stole a kid.

Joan Cusack better ****ing win something. She is ****ing perfect for Sheila. If there's anyone that can beat the UK characters it's her. lol
