I am not sure what all the spec means and there is one I am defiantly not sure about, is the speaker Ohms 4-8 OK for amp at 6 Ohms? Does the speakers range from 4-8 covering the 6 Ohms? Not sure how the Ohms work.

Also could anyone tell me if the amp is compatible with the speakers in general?

thanks for any help

Yes, those speakers are compatible with that amp.

Speakers typically have an impedance rating that they are "4 ohm" or "8 ohm" or whatever, but almost all speakers have different impedance at different frequencies. For example, look at the first graph on this page, which is a graph of impedance vs. frequency for the Magico Q5 speakers:

Your speakers have a specified rating of "4 - 8 ohms", which is a bit odd, but I suspect the manufacturer is just trying to say "these speakers work with amps that can handle 4 or 8 ohm speakers".

Pretty much all home electronic amps work fine with 8 ohm speakers. Some amps also work with 4 ohm speakers, and some even work with 2 ohm speakers. Some amps, like your amp, are rated at 6 ohms, which typically inflates the power rating a bit -- the same amp will deliver more power into 6 ohm speakers than it would into 8 ohm speakers, so the amp manufacturer specifies the power rating into 6 ohms to make it sound more powerful than if they posted the power rating into 8 ohms. For example, look at the last chart on the following page, which shows a beefy amp that will deliver 365.1 watts into 8 ohms and 669.8 watts into 4 ohms:

This stuff can be a bit tricky to understand, but the bottom line is that your speakers will work fine with your amp.

Thank you for maxcooper for the reply
The links are very useful, but I have not read them properly yet, need to spend some time on them as I am not very technically minded. But its good to know the speakers are OK with this amp.
Thanks again
