Amplified Splitter Question

Hi,

Quick question here. I'm planning on mounting a cheap, flat antenna high up near a window in one room of my apartment (Maybe this one: http://www.amazon.com/ANT1500-Superi...2273850&sr=8-2). I'm going to run it to this amplified splitter: http://www.pctstore.com/RF_amplifier...tmab10154a.htm. This should feed all the rooms of my apartment. I realize that active return is unnecessary, but will having it in any way harm or degrade my signal (or anything else). I noticed that Amazon had a passive version of this available (http://www.amazon.com/DIGITAL-AMPLIF...2270586&sr=1-6). However, seeing as how I might have cable TV in the future, active return might be nice to have if I get fancy with the wiring. I just don't want to give myself issues.

Also, I realize that not all splitters with an amplified return path work with cable modems (I currently use DSL, but again, for the future). Looking at the spec sheet, I have no idea what to look at that might tell me if this would work with a cable modem or not. That being said, would I be better served by a different model?

Thanks for the help!

Dan

No takers? Also, I thought maybe I should repost this in the "A/V Distribution" thread instead.

The return path is 5-42MHz, whether it be passive or active.

A cable modem should be connected prior an an amplifier, so having an active return path is neither here nor there as far as a cable modem is concerned. Settop boxes, however are a different story as they also use the return path. For four outlets, you shouldn't need an active return path, but if you can get that amp with an active return for 30bux less than the same version with a passive return, do it. Having an active return will in no way cause issues with the forward path.
