Panasonic P50G20 Questions

I literally just bought the TV after it being recommended by... everyone. I had an LED-LCD, but the input lag was absolutely horrible, and to top it off, it burnt a pixel on week 3 so I took it back and got this instead!

It's lag is down, but connected to my computer an old NES emulator has a bit of lag, haven't tested the NES in RF or AV yet but here's hoping.

Other than the lag issue I have a strange question about the dim whites. I've noticed when set to my computer, if I localize a window in a small area (roughly 10 - 40% of the screen the whites a bright and vibrant, almost LCD bright. but in full screen, white is almost gray.

I've noticed that when I bring up the menu with a full or close to full white background (say google.com maximized) it brightens the whites as well, considering that the menu dims half the screen.

I was just wondering if it needs breaking in, if its a "feature" like smart dimming or something of the sort that I can turn off, because all colors and look fantastic, just need to fix the whites/white balance.

.I am already pretty happy with this purchase (other than the input lag never ever reaching near 0) so I was just wondering about the white thing. Thanks in advance.

Search for the term ABL. I think that's what you're seeing.

Turn the power saving features off if you need those retina-searing whites. On most plasmas, this will help, but nothing is going to produce LCD-like performance on full screen 100 IRE.

I honestly don't know when this comes up in actual content. I don't care what the iPad commercials look like.

It may be the brightness thing, because it isn't just white, its all bright colors, they get brighter when sectioned off by, for example, the menu or any other image.

The eco settings on the TV just have to do with when it shuts itself off, there isn't much in there.

It just looks perfect when half of the screen is covered up by a dark image, all the colors seem to be at their perfect level, so who knows, I'll have to poke and prod with it, but other than that, THX + movies = this thing is the best looking picture I have personally seen... and I own it!

Thanks for the responses and such.

Make sure CATS is turned off in the video setting though I think it is like Randy said the tv is limiting the "brightness" on an all white scene as it is harder for plasma to do that. Glad you like the picture on your set.
