Hey everyone,

I wanted to expand upon the guide that currently exists for making 3XDVD (9gb HDDVD) by showing you how to make HD DVD with single layer 15gb HD DVD-R Media.

I put together an 18 minute You Tube Video (in 2 parts) showing you how you can author advanced HD DVD discs with HDi menus. For this tutorial I made an HD DVD for Season 1 of The Walking Dead. This is just for instructional purposes.

So if you get an HD DVD-R burner and find media... you can now make your own close to studio style HD DVD's

Part 1

Part 2

This will allow you to make advanced POP-UP style HD DVD Menu's/

Please Note: The ULEAD SOFTWARE in conjunction with HD DVD-R Media seems to only have 2nd Generation TOSHIBA HD DVD Player compatibility. These discs will also work on HD DVD ROM and XBOX HD DVD Drives.

3rd Generation Player support has bugs I have not yet worked out when using 15gb single layer media. However, if you use 8.5gb DVD+R DL Discs you will get support across all players (2nd and 3rd Generation)

Enjoy

Hi gary,

To make a video tutorial on conditions can use the program CamStudio 2.5.

Have you tried authoring DL 30GB discs, and do they work on the HD-XA2 / HD-A2 players, especially at the layer transition?
Can you use existing H.264 transport streams as source material and/or VC1 content without the software re-encoding, IF the source is compliant?

BTW-Cool video.

At the moment, have not tried making a 30gb disc... actually haven't found any 30gb HD DVD DL discs anywhere. However I can tell you this, ULEAD automatically puts the layer transition in for you at a pre-determined location. This is not anything you can personally control when authoring HD DVD with ULEAD.

Hope that helps shed some light. if and when I do find affordable 30gb discs I will give it a whirl and see what happens.
