Will there be a model year 2011 Mits RPTV?

Anyone know for sure? It had been rumored months ago that 2010 might be it. That there couldn't possibly be anything left to improve upon in this ancient technology. I'd been tempted for the longest time to upgrade my 2 year old 2008 WD-65736 to a 73 incher but if there is a model for 2011 I may wait till then. Over the years it seems as though around April-May is when the new models were announced. But I've got a tax refund coming in soon that HAS GOT TO BE SPENT!!!!!!! IT HAS GOT TO BE!!!!

Thanks!

I'd be very surprised if Mitsubishi stopped making these TVs. I think 3D may be the saving grace as it's the best TV for that. However, to answer your original question, I don't know if they will stop making these.

There is still much more to improve, it is even rumored TI has come out with a new chip for these tv's which would definitely be implemented in more models. DLP is still an innovating technology in front projection, and its not as popular but still offers an advantage in Rear Projection. It is far from being maxed, so I guess just wait and see lol.

Why does it matter??? They are available now so buy one! Ancient tech??? LOL!
Front projectors are the oldest tech.Should we not go to the movies anymore? No home theaters?

It's amazing to me how hung up people are about having the latest and greatest tech. so they pay 2x more for a TV that's 1'' thick.Personally,I like watching the front part!

I'd take a 60'' DLP HDTV over a 10'' holographic 3D laser TV that you can tape to the wall.

All that being said....IF DLP's and flat panels were the exact same price or money wasn't an issue,I'd go for a plasma(less moving parts). However,my 60738 was $599 open box.Now that's a lot of bang for the buck!!!!!

How many 60" DLP models does Mits. have?

I can't make much sense out of their website. Thanks.

3 60 inch models: 60" C10 series, 60" 638 series, 60" 738 series. The other 60" models are discontinued models. Retailers may have those older models in inventory even at this late date. I saw this month a 60" C9 sitting in inventory at a local retailer. The store owner finally gave up and sold it at a big discount so he could have room for a few more LCDs. This guy is a "Premier" dealer who will not stock any LaserVue or display DLPs correctly. But no one else in the area is allowed to have LaserVues. Another store had a 82" and a 73" 737 series in inventory they were selling at the beginning of December. Some of the older models are out there, so Mitsubishi has to show them on the website.

Thanks David.

I have a Mits. front projector with a 4x color wheel speed, and I do not see rainbows. I assume I would not see rainbows with one of these sets either? Does anyone know the color wheel speed they use? Have the color wheel assemblies been reliable with these TV's? Thanks.

Maximum wheel speed is about 15000RPM from what I have read, which end up being about the same as your 4X color wheel speed. My friends who own DLPs have not mentioned maintenance problems with the color wheel. The biggest complaint is the lamp changing routine and cost. These guys are very good about making sure the set has proper cooling air. They are careful about not allowing dust to accumulate near the vents. They all use an excellent Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to make sure there is clean power going to the set and that brownouts and blackouts do not have much of an effect on the safe shutdown of the set. All the sets sit on excellent stands and were properly leveled. Yes, my friends with DLPs are all machinists, carpenters, engineers, and mechanics with excellent tools, but the average person with the correct tools could do the same.
